    Jake Humphrey's is a genuine top bloke - I remember when I did some security work on the media compound/pit straight grandstand at the British GP back in the early naughties; we had to let the public in with tickets and TV crews and presenters In with media passes. Jake and the rest of the team including Brundel would always join the queue with the public - but we would let them jump the queue by letting them in a side gate. Jake would always make a bit of small talk with us and even took ten minutes out of his busy schedule to talk to a spectator's wife who was wheelchair-bound and suffering from terminal cancer. It really made her day - proving what a genuine decent bloke he is.

    I thought this was an inspiring and captivating interview. I have watched Jake for years on BT sports and always wondered why he stepped away from it all. His high Performance interviews are all about the man/ woman and what drives them as individuals. Well worth a watch. The way he describes failure by first understanding your success period, should be an inspiration for any individual, whether young or old. We are on this journey in life and any failure should not dictate how we ultimately live it.

How scary it must have been in Melbourne with that bass line in your cans, lord only knows. I love Jake Humphrey, always have. The best presenter F1 has had in my time watching it over the last 25 years. Steve Jones now is a clown. Besides that though, my mother was an elite educationalist; one of the country's Superheads. At one point she was the head of 7 different schools. She always believed that if you failed at school you would fail at life. The amount of pressure she placed on me to succeed was so was high I was always crushed by the pressure, despite having the aptitude. Jake is a classic example of the fact you can fail at school yet still go on to be immensely successful if your parents back you. The emphasis was largely placed on his parents giving him a mentality to graft, a strong work ethic. But what was probably less highlighted was that moment that they would put their arm round his shoulder and said that they loved him no matter what. That is what creates confidence and everything stems from that. Excellent interview and always a pleasure to listen to Jake. Really nice to hear his personal story. First video I've seen from Road to Success. Will definitely be checking out some more. Nice Job!!

    • @damienkearns3654

      People place pressure on the educational system for good reason, the amount of people that fall through the cracks and never recover is infinitely higher than those who succeed. He's not a total anomaly of course, but many never recover from it because the system doesn't let you.

    • @damienkearns3654
      @damienkearns3654 5 місяців тому

      Jesus, how do people like you not understand the difference between people's roles - Jake Humphrey was the main host, the presenter of the F1 coverage linking between analysts (for example former drivers) and commentators. Murray Walker was a commentator (the best), he carried out the play-by-play (the description of all the action on the circuit) of a race from beginning to end. James Hunt was a colour commentator with him like Martin Brundle was and continues to be to this day. You do realise the difference right? And comparing Humphreys to Murray Walker is hilarious - Murray Walker was in a different league in terms of what they both brought to the sport in terms of watching and listening to it. I could miss the entire introduction to a race and not particularly care because Walker was the voice of the sport for over a generation. The other guy linked segments together before and after the actual event.

      Just been trying very hard. My father passed away tragically in 2020. He was a hard working man with his own paving business. If you want to find out about me. There is too in depth episodes on the channel

    It’s interesting that he’s nowhere near as well-spoken in real life and has a separate media personality.

    With respect Jake is full of nonsense. Thinks he’s a psychologist. Continually tripes out others views as his own. Not missed on mainstream tv.

    All fine and dandy but nowadays he’s the wrong sex, wrong sexual persuasion and wrong colour! He would probably struggle to get a job in a tv advert!

    Always struck me as someone who tried too hard and isn’t natural. Plus he never really seemed to “fit” in the sports world

    I use to think Jake was very good on F1 at a time when there was something worth watching on the BBC. But I'd love to ask him now what he thinks of the BBC now? And how people like him have to walk into Broadcasting House in London where there is a statute created by a paedophile on the front of the building by Eric Gill? Do people think of their own children or the children he abused and the family dog? Or does that not really matter compared to your success?

    Always thought he was one of the worst football show hosts, always came across as if he'd rather not be there, saw him at a few live games too and he looked even more miserable
    Cant say I'm disappointed he's gone, didn't even notice until now, sorry Jake.
