This intensive two day seminar will help you incorporate successful strategies of neurofeedback into the treatment of developmental trauma.
Reviewing the latest neuroscience research relating to the impact of neglect and abuse on the developing brain, we will also turn to evidence-based techniques to calm the fear-driven brain. In developmental trauma, no major neurological system is spared, leading to consequences for physical and immune system health. We will discuss how trauma impacts the brainโs networks as well as its capacity to inhibit states of high arousal.
We will look at the brain dynamics underlying dissociation and the differences in how the dissociative and non-dissociative person processes information. These findings challenge our ways of thinking about psychological defenses including dissociation, repression and resistance. They can also inform the development of neurofeedback protocols.
All of these impacts give rise to a mind and sense of identity in our traumatized patients that we encounter as psychotherapists. The second day of this workshop will focus on how to integrate neurofeedback and psychotherapy. We will explore the powerful fields that trauma creates in our patients and in us, where these seem to show up in the EEG and how we can measure change in these fields as treatment and neurofeedback progress. We will discuss the pragmatic issues in the integration of brain and mind approaches such as touch, time and office set-up, as well as the importance of psycho-education in this approach to treatment.
Weโll discuss some โtried and trueโ protocols and some new ones that are emerging in response to the neuroscience. And we will explore the changes and the setbacks we can expect to see in the course of recovery from the devastating aftermath of developmental trauma. We will talk about all of this using case examples that the seminar leader and participants bring.

Great presentation. Iโm currently undertaking Neurofeedback to help with chronic anxiety
Thanks. I hope you find neurofeedback helpful.
How did it go?
Not getting the results I was hoping for
@@Jennings4934 How about now? How long have you been doing it?
@@samdung5630, still struggling. Practitioner recons I have internalised OCD we havenโt been getting the results Iโve been hoping for
10 years ago a therapist said my brain was too active for therapy so she did neurofeedback with me. I did it for months and I honestly do not know if it helped or not.
Unfortunately the therapist did not explain to me the why or how of it.
And gave me little instruction. So in my thinking I am playing a video game and I am trying to move this object with my brain. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
Being a non trusting person (DID) I need someone to explain with details why I am doing something.
Looking at the brain scan it is very true that that my brain seems to come alive when there is a emergency happening yet otherwise I have trouble thinking or remembering what I did yesterday in a relaxed setting.
I have gotten better through doing right brain activities.(I have no problem being the first one out on the dance floor in front of people) Yet still will have a panic attack going grocery shopping.
Thank you so much..are there videos from the weekend seminar that followed this introduction?
I've heard Seaburn say many times neurofeedback needs to go with therapy. I believe her. I'd like to know more about how or why they need to go together and where I can find a therapist to go with a neurofeedback provider.
Hi Sam,
There is substantial research evidence about the importance of the 'therapeutic alliance' (which you can find on google scholar), but a simpler way of thinking about it is the way that Sebern Fisher describes it elsewhere (in another video on this channel) that relationships are a vital foundation of human health, and that what a 'good-enough' therapist does is to provide the way for us to develop a capacity for healthy, fulfilling relationships. The brain-training (neurofeedback) guides the nervous system of the person training into lower arousal, less reactivity, less fear, more calm and more balance, but the relationship with the therapist is a pivotal part of the person being able to integrate this awareness, these new perspectives, into their outlook. Hope that helps.

How do i find a good practitioner in my area. I was going to go the QEEG way and do this at home but now based on this feel like i need to do more personalized sessions for my ADHD and anxiety.
I have a question. Is Neuro therapy effective for bipolar disorder? I have a 29 y/o granddaughter that suffers with this to the point that she is unable to manage her life. (Makes poor decisions, can't hold down a job, etc). She used to be very intelligent and dynamic, but has really decline; even graduated college with a double degree. She needs help desperately.
I am a little familiar with the great results of neurofeedback only because another granddaughter was treated with it for her ADHD, and has had amazing results!!
I would love to have more information re: bipolar disease and this treatment. Can you give some insight into my search? I would be be very appreciative!
Hi JoAnne,
Thanks for writing. Clinicians that we work with report positive results with many conditions, including bipolar. As you would likely agree, getting into the details about treatment and therapy in a particular case is beyond the scope of a text thread like this. If you are interested to know more about how clinical neurofeedback could help your granddaughter, I would recommend reaching out to an EEGer clinician who may be able to offer some guidance.

is there a recording of day #2?
This is a one hour live-stream discussion of Sebern Fisher's course Trauma and the Fear-Driven Brain. The course is a 16 -hour exploration of the clinical work of therapy and neurofeedback for developmental trauma. You can find out more about this course, and others by Sebern at www.eeglearn.com/tfd
@@eeger Thank you!! That's what I was looking for.
@@eeger I'm not a counselor, bit I want to purchase the talk. Can I? I've been looking for this information.
@@samdung5630 Yes, absolutely! EEG Learn, which hosts these courses, works to bring understanding about therapy, the brain, and neurofeedback to everyone. Although much of the course material is designed with the mental health professional in mind (since most of our presenters come from these communities), we welcome all participants.

Could these findings connect with the MK Ultra experiments? And what was also experimented during WW2 and post WW2 findings?
