  • In the work of Sebern Fisher, neurofeedback has been revolutionary in resolving complex trauma for many of her clients. She’s also written a brilliant book on the subject called Neurofeedback in the treatment of developmental trauma: Calming the fear-driven brain (published by Norton).
We talk to her today about her neurofeedback practice, what got her into it, and how effective is it. You can find out more about Sebern on her website where she has other resources www.sebernfisher.com/

I did NeuroFeedback in June 2022 and never needed prozac again - after 32 years of sever chronic debilitating depression and on 4 night hospital stay. Now I am symptom free. It was that simple. If not for the drug lobby and the DSMV it would be in our health care system.

How many training sessions did you have? What did you watch? Can you give some more personal experience about it all?? Thank you! And what was your cost? I was just quoted $4000.

What kind of neurofeedback did you do?

Despite the person in the comments section, who a) doesn't know what they're talking about and b) probably had a bad expierience with a poorly trained or not trained at all practitioner, I must say, this technology is life-changing. Seriously, it's the greatest invention in neuroscience in 1000 years. Fantastic therapy. Highly recommend. Make sure your practitioner is BCIA-Certified.

Certainly in our experience of talking with both practitioners and patients, neurofeedback can have fantastic results. Certainly worth considering over many drug therapies.

How did the Neurofeedback help for your fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue? Have you tried beef liver and cod-liver capsules?

The Neurofeedback System that Sebern Fisher uses 27:30 . I never felt alive unless I was on Adderall or Vyvanse, I really hope this works.

I'm nervous to try it. I'm afraid of everything though, hell I just made a protein shake and I feel like I drank it too fast and I feel dizzy and afraid that I'm going to die or like have a psychotic episode even though I've never had one. Can't believe I've gotten to this point. I guess with neurofeedback I'm afraid I'm going to break my brain or have a nervous breakdown or something.

@Slaytounge I understand exactly how you're feeling. I'm there too but I need to have faith that this will help with my acute trauma, until I can start the EMDR therapy when the doc comes back from Cali. I hope you get help and that it works for you. Sending love🥰

Did you start it? Read her book, it’s the most beautiful book ever. Neurofeedback can help with these extreme phobias you have. I also have them…

I have a question. I have seen this therapy being advertised as an alternative one for certain metal disorders such as adhd, drug dependency, anxiety depression to mention some. I want to give it a try cuz i have bpd but this condition isn't mentioned in their advertising so the question is Does the practitioner have to be knowledgeable for bpd or even cptsd so that this therapy can help me? Or is there like a general technique in neurofeedback that affects positively a lot of mental disorders? Thx!

      @MS-pm9fe Рік тому +1

By BPD I assume you mean Borderline PD, rather than BiPolar Disorder. Neurofeedback targets symptoms rather than diagnoses. Borderline is generally complex ptsd which is also generally neurodeveloomental trauma. Neurofeedback can absolutely help with Borderline, but because it is a complex issue (as opposed to general anxiety) I would seek out a Neurofeedback practitioner with a lot of experience in Borderline or Developmental trauma. Hope that helps

Try EEGer neurofeedback. Hopefully you find a practitioner, I can’t find anybody in my region in Canada….

Advice to potential patients - DO.NOT.DO.THIS. This is a dangerous practice - the way the brain can be influenced and changed is still largely unknown. Despite all the pop science rhetoric, neuroscience is still largely in its absolute infancy. Take it from me - whatever problems you might be experiencing, messing with a bunch of idiots and crooks who don’t know what they’re doing and don’t care, just isn’t worth it.

My cousin's son was saved by it. He was completely nonfunctional. Now he's a normal kid. That was 8 or 9 years. She's only now having to do a toych-up. She's also a good parent, but she couldn't help him before because he was so overwhelmed by his emotions. She acted as his therapist basically. It needs to be done in conjunction with therapy, a trained and experienced neurofeedback practitioner and a lot of feedback from the patient, at least that's what I got from my cousin. I did it some myself, and I think it is amazing.

Take it from you???? Who are you???? Lol. Just kidding but I am curious as to who you are and what your credentials are wrt Neurofeedback and why you are telling others not to do it? I’ve heard many pros to Neurofeedback but not any cons. Would love to hear what those cons are? Thank you!

Neurofeedback can demonstrate sound efficacy for trauma therapy (especially with kids as Fisher has so abundantly demonstrated). Make sure you are going to someone who is certified and knows what they are doing.
Agreed that neuroscience is still in its infancy but that doesn't mean we know nothing, there is enough evidence that these techniques like neurofeedback can have a positive effect. We certainly know a lot more now about memory formation, memory reconsolidation, all of which are being used to formulate better therapeutic techniques and interventions.

I suppose it's straight to level 2 narcotics for all then aye? I took my 10 yr old in for 20 rounds only and have seen a major reduction in anger outbursts ..I was amazed. I did read up on this nfb for weeks b4 trying. I'm willing to try anything over narcotics for a developing child.
