Billy Sheehan is a legend, and a lovely guy. I got to drink wine with him backstage after a show in Adelaide, South Australia ... So interesting talking with him, and what a player!!!! Total class act! :)
I'm impressed on how minimalistic R.Kotzen's rig is,you see other guitarists with huge pedalboards,pre-amps,stacks etc. This guy has just that tiny, compact pedalboard,a wah, these 2 tube amps and a modded Tele, that's it.Prove you don't need crapload of stuff,to get a great tone.
+greekfreak1980 Even listening to Richie EXPLAIN his "small" pedalboards was complicated. KEEP IT SIMPLE, fellow musicians, and you'll be so happy you did.
It depends really on what music you're doing as well though, like if you do like music that has like weird synthy sounds and octave and stuff you would want all that crap but some people like josh klinghoffer from rhcp's pedal board is just stupid
+greekfreak1980 Theres a lot in what your saying, But on the other side of music is the miles of note and free ride expression to the Nth degree. And then there are players who just don't buy into it early. I said this before he explained his origin set up. I was thinking that once you have a sound that holds water as my dad would say. You get in your show and go
Richie's such a cool guy. It is pretty cool how with his signature stuff he thought of everything like the phantom power knowing all else that he needs is a wah. And i like that they both ran through their own rigs not just a tech.
As a drummer I'm really loving this interview series. I like how they dive into gear rundown as well as the artist. I really dig players that know their gear besides just being a player.
I found this to be a very good and watchable interview, both guys knew what they were talking about and were very easy to listen too, plus the interviewer was chill and had crazy hair.
I can't watch the video because I'm reading all the crap about John's hair. But even watching the vid I can't hear what they are saying because I'm so transfixed on John's hair... Sux...
John has one of those built in handsfree hair mics. Fair play to Ritchie for keeping a straight face 👀 What a cool simplified rig a credit to Ritchie's technique and skills
I watched 4 of this Rig Tour with Richie. I like him, he is a down to earth guy. And i like his Simple Rig's. I know just a few more they play like him (without a Spaceship of Pedals) me included! I have an Engl Artist and a Delay. It's all you need. Like he said, all you need is an Amp that sounds good to you 🤘🏼😎
The truth is Steve Hackett was doing tapping with Genesis back in 1971, in one of their songs, in unison, with the keyboard player Tony Banks. Crazy stuff.
This is 2nd interview I have to give Richie credit. I'd have asked wtf he thinks he's doing with the hair. I need Richie's shirt. Hot, talented, on fire man.......

John is slowly morphing into Ace Ventura
Billy kept staring at it at the start of his interview, lol
+Anthony Knese .... nice guy but more like "dorking" into Ace Ventura
And there it is
Fly by night rush
Fly by night rush
How Ritchie kept a straight face I will never know
What you can't see is Portnoy holding signs up behind John saying ' don't look directly at the hair!!!'
i thought it was a stage fan; then i thought he just got up and then i realised, no it's for real.
i also wonder hahahahahahahhaha
Never mind the hair what about Ritchie's mad max
skirt leggings combo
Caloss2 Channel Is that Jonald Trump!?? Hahaha!!!!🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 John that hair is Wicked!!!🤘😎
What spectacularly regular folks. Thank God for good people, good musicians and the Winery Dogs.
I guess being a Pet Detective doesn't pay the bills like it use to so now Ace is interviewing musicians.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS (took me a while!)
i noticed the sam thing~!!
JoshDownUnder if you have hair enjoy it. Mine.....tis Gone.....life....cruel mistress.

LMFAOOOOOOO
Billy Sheehan is a legend, and a lovely guy. I got to drink wine with him backstage after a show in Adelaide, South Australia ... So interesting talking with him, and what a player!!!! Total class act! :)
He has the "There's Something About Mary" doooo going here!
+Retro Joe Ace Ventura baby!
+BarbecueFitness totally a ventura doo
+Nosy Peeking LMAO!!!
He knows his hair is surfin' on his forehead, right?
+Retro Joe I think, it's more of an Ace Ventura Pet Detective vibe going on.
Richie is making a professional attempt at not looking at John's hair.
as soon as I saw Johnbo I scrolled down knowing their would be hundreds of ballbusting comments..you guys didn't disappoint.
Dat. Hair.

+Secular Voices Just compare Kotzen's pedalboard with other famous musicians rigs, hell just take a look at how much stuff Billy Sheehan has on stage.

"Hey this is ace ventura for premier guitar"
Richie's such a cool guy. It is pretty cool how with his signature stuff he thought of everything like the phantom power knowing all else that he needs is a wah. And i like that they both ran through their own rigs not just a tech.
Came here for the gear, stayed because of the comments... Now have to watch the video again and pay attention to the gear, well I'll try!
Ace Ventura investigating Winery Dogs; makes sense.
Richie has that Jesus/Chris Cornell vibe happening.
+Darragh Tate Ah, that old chestnut. ;)
+Darragh Tate odds are that they're all related, its uncanny!
i know it's a bit late but Rest In Peace chris!
Christ Cornell
Ace Ventura Pose...
"I shake you hand again!!!!" RICHIE THE BEST GUY AROUND!!!! Being humble is not a skill! It's a way of life! BE BLESSED MAN!
Have a lot of respect for musicians who actually use the gear they endorse. Great work Ritchie and Billy
Billy Sheehan is an absolute legend.
Billy is unbelievable
It's nice to see a major player with a KISS approach to his gear setup. Just what you need, nothing more, good results without all the hassle.
Love the simplicity of Kotzen's rig. Obviously the main parts of the rig are REALLY high quality, but I love the simplicity...
One of the best interviews of Premier Guitar... Very nice and knowledgeable
i so much like the way he uses just one damn great guitar !!! so much respect for this man !!!!
Really love the down to earth interview of Ritchie.
I'm stating the obvious here, but Sheehan = insane bass chops! Never ceases to amaze.
I came for the gear but I stayed for the hair.
As a drummer I'm really loving this interview series. I like how they dive into gear rundown as well as the artist. I really dig players that know their gear besides just being a player.
I can hear a band and even if I don't know the band if Billy is playing with them I know it!! He has that thing that no one else has!!
Was gonna comment on the hair but you all have it covered 😄 great job everybody!
Richie
"It's a standard telecaster pickup"
Other guy
"Ahh. Thats very cool" !!!!!
petewoodroffemusic BAHAHAHA so true! He says that a lot
Richie seems like real chill dude. Winery Dogs are unbelievably awesome. Check them out.
HAHAHAHA... Kotzen keeps looking at his head like "are you putting me on?"
I found this to be a very good and watchable interview, both guys knew what they were talking about and were very easy to listen too, plus the interviewer was chill and had crazy hair.
Richie is a truly amazing guitarist.
I really like his set up ,seems like he is really cool
I can't watch the video because I'm reading all the crap about John's hair. But even watching the vid I can't hear what they are saying because I'm so transfixed on John's hair... Sux...
+Buddy Martin there is something abut mary... err.. john
+patricio morales 🤔 😹🗯 Ha-ha, too funny!
John is a great guy but what would make a grown man get up in the morning and decide to create this look?
Winery Dogs rule tho!
John has one of those built in handsfree hair mics. Fair play to Ritchie for keeping a straight face 👀 What a cool simplified rig a credit to Ritchie's technique and skills
What in the hell is UP with John's hair?
Josiah Luck He's got that Jim Carey Ace Ventura vibe about him
Nice rig billy you are an ambassador for the low end bringing all the bass world together \m/
Who else went to comments to read about the hair? Haha
Lucky Singh 4 whole seconds.
When did Ace Ventura start working at Premiere Guitar?

@@MisterTee thank you. I can continue to watch in peace
incredible rundown!
I watched 4 of this Rig Tour with Richie. I like him, he is a down to earth guy. And i like his Simple Rig's. I know just a few more they play like him (without a Spaceship of Pedals)

I have an Engl Artist and a Delay. It's all you need. Like he said, all you need is an Amp that sounds good to you 🤘🏼😎
Dudes hair is JACKED up!!!!!!
at 17;25, I really like when he mentions his roots with Talas, never forgetting what started him off to stardom.
How does Richie keep from not busting out about the hair thing. LOL
Probably Mike Portnoy (Dogs drummer) is behind Bohlinger holding a sign saying "Don't look right at the hair!!!"
... only master Richie Kotzen could tour the world with just two Telecasters as his main axes ... :)
great Interview from Ace Ventura:-)
love these dudes.. great rig rundown..
Billy Sheehan's got the ultimate bass tone!
Billy is a really a bass expert, i even wonder if he does really need a bas tech cause he knows every single thing about his rig!
anahowana he doesn't have the time with all the pr and everything else
Would love an updated run down
24:00 - was expecting a spinal tap moment, kinda got one!
They're from another planet 😎
more bass rundowns!!! awesome!
Horray for a nerdy bass rundown!
It would be nice to hear/demo more of the stuff you guys talk about i the interviews.
Holy shittt the hair so wavy amazing
Billy's bass licks are awesome on this by the way.
:)
Sheehan's bass playing is awesome in general
His hair is outstanding
The truth is Steve Hackett was doing tapping with Genesis back in 1971, in one of their songs, in unison, with the keyboard player Tony Banks. Crazy stuff.
that guy have the "There's something about Mary" incident
Strings and picks, please?
The one band where you can actually here the bassist!
This is 2nd interview I have to give Richie credit. I'd have asked wtf he thinks he's doing with the hair. I need Richie's shirt. Hot, talented, on fire man.......
His voices sounds like jack sparrow of music 🤩🤩 ! this guy is just awesome !
You're coming to Poland on 20th Fer 2016 ;-) Cool!
OMG this combination of Stifler and Ace Ventura freaks out musicians, Richie almost run away
Digging the Ace Ventura hairdo John.
awesome to see Ace Ventura and Liutenant Dan of Forrest Gump in one interview!!
Something About Mary - The Movie must be an inspiration for the interviewer.
Funny haircut, simple rig... love this vid
Theeeere's something on the wing. Soooooommme thing.
head on ya john haha. love ya bro!
Cornford ceased production in 2013. Richie is playing Marshall and Fender amps now.
Sheehan is such a nice guy
Fernando Westphalen . I concur. ......
wonder what lies beneath??
...
maybe nothing sinister.
...but he is a scientologie member...he is a devil in disguise
what is going on with his hair lol great video as normal
I just noticed, although I could absolutely be wrong, but at 3:10 it looks like Mr. Kotzen is sporting The Almighty Sheehan home-made strap!
Enough about Richies amps and stuff I wanna know where he got those boots
With Yamaha for 30 years. Longer than half of the people on earth have been alive.
I can't keep myself focused on the interview. That's because of the Ace Ventura. I can't stop laughing or keep my eyes off of that hair. Hahahahahaha.
I see that hair and the fact that John was probably nervous about meeting Richie... and I think: "There's Something About Mary".
Billy can make a bass do anything!!
very nice great
This guy should be as famous as John Mayer.
Please try to do a Motley Crue rig rundown before they end their final tour!!! Please, please!!!
Never been a fan of Fender Teles, but damn that one is nice

Wow, I am surprised to see that Jimmy Neutron is interviewing musicians nowadays... such a shame, he had a bright future.
This is a bog standard telecaster except for this and this and this and this and this and this.
hahaha
Who else found these guys via their cover of "Fooled Around And Fell In Love"?
Ray finkle on drums?
