Billy came to my town to do a bass clinic fairly recently, there was only like 10 people there, so 10 of us were in a room, with Billy, he didn't really even do what he was gonna do because there was so little of us, so we all just got to talk to him, 1-on-1 for a bit, the best experience of my life
That's crazy!
@@digitaltourbus because it never happend -.-
@@shoguLIVE wow you're cynical.
He seems so normal and not rock star ish
There were a lot more bass players that wanted to come, but their moms were busy and couldn't drive them to the clinic.
Billy seems like the nicest guy ever. Really humble and laid back.
He most definitely is! He is always such a pleasure to work with!
I agree but he's into Scientology so that confuses me about him because he seems like a very intelligent man
But the interesting thing about him is he still doesn't judge despite being into scientology. I'm personally against scientology, but billy is such a nice person that it really enforces the 'people aren't defined by the crowd with their beliefs' mentality.
yeah but into some waaaaacky nonsense.
topo logic. People should believe the truth, which comes from discussion, argument, debate, reason, thought, science, evidence etc. I have great respect for Billy as a bassist and as a person. I find it odd that such a seemingly well grounded guy can buy into scientology which was founded by a science fiction writer, conman, blackmailer and thief.
Billy Sheehan is an excellent ambassador for bass players everywhere. Total class act.
Totally agree!
"It's a pretty simple setup"-every guitar/bass player ever, proceeds to explain labyrinthine rig. Honestly though, lol, dude is not only a boss player in his ability, his sounds and rig incredible, but he's also really insightful. Very awesome and inspiring.
Totally agree!
Who doesn't want to just have a beer with this man?
Just about everyone would enjoy that!
i kinda did when mr big played a bar in toronto.. hung out in the club with the whole band after the show.. eric martin (singer) says to me “ you want a beer?” .. i thought he was asking me to buy him one.. then he pulls out a beer from the pocket of his overcoat and hands it to me 😆 i didnt keep the can but i did get all 4 signatures on my mr big debut tape liner 👍👍 thanks again guys !!!
I’d like to smoke a joint with him then throw down a little jam.
💯
Every bass player would love a beer with Sheehan. Legend.
Love this guy even more.
Back in 1998 i send an email to him asking technical stuff, he reply promptly an answering all my question. Such a humble guy!!
That's amazing!!
He's such a nice guy love how excited and animated he is after all these years
It's an amazing thing to see!
He just has a lot to say.
Has obviously taught a lot of newbies and wants listeners to understand the sophisticated ideas he runs on.
What vibration tech is he talking about anybody know ?
I assume he’s talking about roasted wood on the artificially aged part of the body idk
I could listen to Billy talk about any subject. He is a humble dude and probably knows more than he lets on.
Couldn't agree more!
This guy is such a great musician, without the rock star attitude, such positive energy, what a great vibe he gives off.
Definitely!
what a humble human being. the guy is a musical genius and it seems he would have enjoyed going on and on talking tech.
Totally agree! He's a great guy!
Billy Sheehan knows his instrument and his equipment very well!! He is very knowledgeable, and very down to earth!!
I had the opportunity to meet Billy a few years ago and I can't believe how a master bass player and top musician can be so humble , passionate and kind. A real gentleman , the same as you can see in the video! one of the musicians who really inspires me! great video!
Couldn't agree more!
I have loved this dude since his Talas days. He is so helpful with info and tricks, seems to be a really humble gent without a huge ego. A fantastic bass player and so passionate about it. Love that he hasn't jumped to a 5 or 6 string seems to easily get it done with 4. Stay cool Mr. Big.
in my sleep i just know where to roll it
*rolls the tone knob*
aaaand i just got it wrong
LOOL
Oops
Makes me there haha
I witnessed Billy Sheehan and his trio Niacin at the erstwhile Bottom Line in NYC as well as own a number of his recordings. All I can say is what an incredible bassist. Billy Sheehan is the REAL DEAL.
💯
I’ve always enjoyed running my basses stereo, both Rickenbacker and Alembic, because various pedals work better for one pickup or the other, depending on frequencies. I loved Billy’s playing back with Talas and DLR through his current projects! Killer player who gets it and a nice guy to boot! Thanks for sharing!
Love this guy, met him with Mr.Big in '92, really pro but very down to earth - you mention preamps or effects to him and he'll look at you with a look that says "Hey, I just play this shit!" LOL
Haha
Such an awesome musician
Totally agree!
This man is a lot more then just a musician.. he is a master of sound and grit.. much love to Mr Sheehan.
I very rarely comment on UA-cam videos - but this time I just have to!
What a stand-up guy - intelligent, very well articulated and humble. I have known about him as a musician for years but this is the first time I actually hear him speak - it is SO nice to hear a rock star with depth and insight to explain his train of thought. Very good video - I will email the link to my friend who also need to see this right away.
Sorry for the poor English - I'm not a native speaker of the language.
So glad you enjoyed the video! Billy is one of our favorite people to work with! :)
MakaBlaka : Your command of the English language is better than most Americans! Good post and I concur with your statements.
Billy is amazing.
My first time hearing him speak too. His voice (for me) has always been his playing. Great to finally "meet" him as a person. It's no surprise he's so articulate and professional. It explains why he's always got work. His career (still ongoing) says it all. The chops and the personality - the full package.
Amazing how well spoken and easy to understand that video was.
Billy Sheehan not only fucking rocks, but knows his shit. Mad respect bro
💯
That was Awesome Billy Sheehan Forever!
By goodness, Billy is such a cool guy. Love how much he just tries to help and seems so genuine.
Old video but a fantastic video. Billy is so down to earth and humble. I love how he refers to his rig as "all this nonsense."
You gotta love this guy. I have enjoyed every subject that Billy has been connected to on UA-cam.
Always so informative, Billy! Thanks again, brother!!!
When it comes to Billy, it's always super informative! :)
Love this guy! He’s so good! So likable! So smart! So! Good! Genius level!
🤘🤘
Billy we love ya here in Rochester NY and miss the good ol days of TALAS at the Penny Arcade...Much love bro...Peace
Thanks Billy, always good to hear you talk gear and play awesome bass.
🤘
What a superb rig, feautring loads of clever ideas for tones and for filling in the band sound! Best run down I've seen in a long time.
So glad you liked it!
Thank you for sharing, Billy. Even a guitar player like me learned a lot from this.
Billy is amazing 🤩 I wish I could meet him one day.
Billy Sheehan is simply awesome in every respect.
Totally agree.
he's such a humble guy.
god bless you sir Billie.
💯
i have seen him lexplaining the gear live, i have watch gazillion his rig rundown videos from many channels but somehow never get tired listening him explaining his rig ^_^
awesome!
I've checked some of them out. I'm obviously bias, but I feel like he really went in-depth on this one. :)
+Digital Tour Bus yes, you're not bias i guess... because this is the first time Billy Sheehan explain his gear almost half and hour LOL .... most of the time, half and hour is rig rundown of him and his band mate ^_^
Made me laugh about the plywood guitar. Funny guy.
Just watched video, got to love Billy,so down to earth, probably one of coolest guys in the music world, not to mention a great bass player
Thanks for checking out the video Erik!
I actually enjoyed his breakdown a lot.
One of the best out there.
Billy is amazing!
His setup could be a college course in and of itself. Not just an incredible bass player, but a tremendous technician as well. I've been playing bass for 40 years and looked up to Billy the first time I saw him in 1984 at a place called Stage 1 in Murraysville, PA. Thank you for posting this.
I met Billy several times years ago in Talas. He gave me some tips I appreciated.
Wow, he seems like a really cool guy, and I've got a new appreciation for what he does after that gear overview.
That's what I like to hear!
thanks Billy.... very nice demonstration.... from Brazil!!!
So glad you enjoyed the video!
Billy, What a great down to earth good guy! Being a guitarist I like giving my bassist some new ideas, so that's how I found this video. I have viewed it so many times I feel I could repeat it in my sleep lol But its all just really great stuff for me to know even though I am not a bassist. I now can give insightful ideas and I have also learned a few things I incorporate myself! Thanks!
So glad to hear! :)
Billy is the perfect example of how charisma makes the difference with a musician. There's many great bassists, but his unique personality and charisma shows in every aspect, whether he's in an interview, playing, or even just hanging out.
He's great!
This guy is really a genius. One of the best bass sounds out there along with Robert Deleo’s “crunchier” bass lines. Perfect for a trio and perfect for cutting through the mix.
🤘🤘
I love this guy.
Haha the bit about him managing to achieve a 6 string range with 'stupid stuff you shouldn't do' always cracks me up.
:)
a legend.. humble guy.. monster player.. true inspiration..❤️.
He most definitely is all of those things!
Extremely informative, have never had anyone explain their rig better. I use two channels also (ric o sound) have for years thank you.
Glad you liked the video!
I fell down the UA-cam wormhole again, glad I landed here, legend.
Yay! Hope you liked the video enough to subscribe to our channel! We release tons of videos just like this one featuring awesome acts, all the time! :)
I learnt sooo much from Billy Sheehan on bass (his tutorial video from the olden days,,,) Watching this reminds me how much he actually has influenced my playing.
😀
Billy Sheehan Master Of de Universsssssdddddd!
Bad ass!! You are the man, Sir! Mitch love and rock on my brother! Big inspiration to me!!
Nice guy, great voice, excellent musician!
Completely agree!
That was great!
You guys keep coming with awesome stuff I love it
That's why we're here! 3 new videos every single day! :)
Great job Billy, I love the references to the old gear set ups from the Talas days!
Glad you like them!
I saw Billy with Talas several times back in the 80s in Western NY, and finally met him at a gig once in Syracuse. He is a really warm, decent guy - its has been a great pleasure seeing him go from a big fish in a small pond to a world famous musician. Couldn't have happened to a nicer or more talented guy.
Totally agree!!
The guy is a savant. Loved this. Thanks.
:)
Great info from a seemingly humble and very talented man!
Sound engineers are really some unsung heroes.
Appreciate you checking out the video. He is definitely a very humble guy. :)
A friend of mine back in the day had a Yamaha Attitude mark I, and I must say it was a very nice instrument to play. Solid as hell, great action, stereo out/ bi-ampable etc...good stuff.Great guy Billy Sheehan.
Thanks for the insight!
The most down to Earth, coolest Rockstar out there. Billy Boy is the real deal!
Real passion for bass keeps him grounded. Looks like a really great guy! let alone make music where he's really top of em all :)
Wonderful video... Thanks, DTB...!! Was shared with "Wild Bill" - Billy Sheehan Fans Club on Facebook... :D Thanks!
Yay, that's awesome!
Great video! Billy puts a smile on my face!
He's awesome!
@@digitaltourbus Exactly and so humble
Billy is awesome! Love ya Billy! Rock on bro 🤘🥁🤘
He's great!
This video was well worth my time…
Awesome! Billy is so quirky it's funny. Seems like a great guy.
He's awesome so great to us!
Billy's brilliant!
I spoke Spooky prints on the back. Love it. Awesome guy, thanks Billy.
Billy is great!
Highly technical musician and he took his sweet time! MP is right at home! Many props to them!
One of my personal favorite Gear Masters episodes.
Digital Tour Bus I’m a drummer, and it is mine too, this guy is really cool! Thank you for sharing!
Billy is a solid dude. He gave one of those amps and two cabs to my bass player, who is a student of his.
" Let's put a Clean Tone "... put overdrive 😂
I think it was the camera, when he was playing the piano it was distorted too
@@apocalipsejoao4968 yeah maybe !
Legend!
Although I have never been a fan or listener of any of Billys bands, he is without a doubt one of the best bassist / musicians EVER and his high IQ doesnt hurt him either.
Western New Yorker I believe.. Cold
Exactly. You don't have to like the music to respect the craft!
Michael Mulligan yep, skill always transcends any genre.
October 31, 1986, Maple Leaf Gardens, I was there, Cinderella opened, the best concert ever. I still have my stub and program, truly awesome.
🤘
That was some great interview/bass gear dissection! I'd love to see something like this with Jack Gibson from Exodus
Love it especially the last part. Im still trying to wrap my head around the possibilities of those pedals and computer software. I'd love to hear more detail about it whenever you can.
Lots of lots of information in this video. Billy is a great guy!
EVH of bassists, And a hell of a nice guy!!
i love this guy!
Ditto!
He's so incredibly passionate about bass. Inspired to continue the journey!
This cat has been around for awhile. Such a great talent.
I'm a drummer and I came to see the ambassador for bass players Billy the man Sheehan , wonderful human being, virtuoso with no arrogance, down to earth, positive vibes, love this legend, I call him a lead bass guitarist who makes his instrument talk to your soul
He's truly an awesome guy!
This was amazing!
So glad you think so! :)
I agree with everyone else... he seems like great guy! Thanks👍
He is! 😀
Billy Sheehan is a Class act. Nice guy
Definitely!
He is the man!
Most definitely!
What an enjoyable fella!
With Billy in your band, you don't need that many more musicians. He covers a lot of ground.
He most definitely does! :)
What a great great dude and amazing bassist
Couldn't agree more!
Awesome guy.
Definitely!
What bands hasn't he been in? What a career, true legend.
I have no idea who this guy is but he sounds so happy to explain his rig
And this was an awesome video to watch
You don't know who Billy Sheehan is? He's a legend. Definitely look up some of the bands he's in!
Billy rules!
I used to think the dual outputs are a little bit extra. But after fiddling around with distortion while trying to blend the clean into the mix and how each pickup affect the overall sound, now I think Billy Sheehan is a genius.
Best bass player on the plant. I'd give my soul to play with this guy.
The 2 inputs are the killer tonal distinction. No doubt. That rig is completely killer!! Than is for the great walk thru.
I was blessed to buy a 1960 jazz bass many years ago (#49 ever) ..that had been modified to have 2 input jacks. It had been lying ‘in the closet’ for way too many years, unused. Thankfully, it came to me. Best tone, sustain, and jazz bass kick I have heard. Bottom and phat is killer. Slap is ridiculous.
Thank you Billy for all you have done and do. 👍🏼✌️
Appreciate you checking out the video!
Digital Tour Bus so much good musicianship comes from the older rockers. It drew me in with the two inputs.
Thanks for posting the video 👍🏼✌️
Billy's one genuine guy.
Definitely!
Phenomenal bass player - never heard better.
🤘
