The way I did it is I cut the rounded tip off of my NATO. After that, I figured out how much of the NATO strap I plan to cut and then placed the rounded tip on the strap on where I want the new rounded edge to be located. I use the rounded tip as a template to cut using a scissor. After that, I use the tip of a soldering iron to cinch the rough edge of the new tip. The end. With my method, you keep the same form of the rounded tip edge that came with your NATO.

I didn't have my soldering iron at hand. So I adapted your method using the mentioned key ring as a template, sharp scissors and a sheet of aluminum (soda can) on a stove top. Worked just as fine. It occurred to me one might pay attention not to get the ring so hot it leaves a mark on the strap. Thanks for the inspiration and your lovely reviews!

Very neat results - that beats clamping and heating two coins etc.

Just watched this video and used your advice to shorten my black nylon Nato strap. I also removed the keeper as shown in one of your other videos. It has made the Nato much more comfortable to wear now. Thought I'd post a thank you note so -- Many thanks!!

Hi Nick, is there anyway you could use this method on strengthening the fixing holes that your buckle fixes to on nato straps to reinforce them so they don't tear. Hope you can help.

I notice that you remove the keepers from your straps. Can you speak to that?

+Brian Taylor They're just thinner that way, and don't help much. I've got a guide to that too, going live soonish.
