Uma singela homenagem do cantor Diogo Ferreira (Raul) a Alex Harvey, o rei descalço da Escócia. Romam Wall Blues, do album The soldier on the wall, ultimo e melhor album solo de Alex.
@@lordofglencoe7084 it’s my fake UA-cam name Daevid Allen / Alex Harvey popped into my head ... a huge fan since 11 years old 1975 Tomorrow Belongs To Me ... & The Alice Cooper Group ... when SAHB did School’s Out I thought they did it for me !! haha it just doesn’t get any cooler than that ... love covers
Alex was working on this album just a few weeks before he passed away, this was completed & finished by the band, I had the opportunity of meeting with Alex and the band , spent about 4 hours in their company when I invaded the dressing room after the gig at rotters nightclub Doncaster, that was about 3 weeks before he died, 🌅
I was at the Doncaster 'gig' ( or should that be... Show ... Alex & SAHB needed to be seen) such a shock to hear the news of his death & complete sorrow knowing we would never see the like again. RIP Alex & his Sensational boys.
Excuse my bad English. Alex recorded the album Blues Roman Wall in 1969, it has that green cover. The blue cover with the wall in the background and the cover with him in front of a mockup of a battlefield are from the album The Soldier on the Wall. The other cover, with a little girl searching a soldier is a special version for cd already launched in the 2000s
Over the heather the wet wind blows, I've lice in my tunic and a cold in my nose. The rain comes pattering out of the sky, I'm a Wall soldier, I don't know why. The mist creeps over the hard grey stone, My girl's in Tungria; I sleep alone. Aulus goes hanging around her place, I don't like his manners, I don't like his face. Piso's a Christian, he worships a fish; There'd be no kissing if he had his wish. She gave me a ring but I diced it away; I want my girl and I want my pay. When I'm a veteran with only one eye I shall do nothing but look at the sky. by WH Auden
No it wasn't. It was built to control cattle raiding from both sides of the wall and so protect the Stanegate, the road from Carlisle to Newcastle and the shortest route across Britain.
I live in Wall (on Hadrian's Wall) and only found the poem recently. Purely by coincidence I loved Alex Harvey as a teenager. (still do) Probably the worst song AH ever performed. Ignores the peotry, scarcely a blues... and he changed the words: "I am a Wall soldier"
I Miss Alex's Voice ... he left us far too early , much sadness still . My favourite
hi , are you from the family ?

É muito complicado encontrar palavras . Uma só : SENSACIONAL !
I have come to know and love this song because Mark Lanegan sang it in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Did a great job, too.
Alex harvey immortal !
midgies, cold rain and us blue painted britons are north of the wall :)
PS.: The album "The Soldier on the Wall" is of 1982

Written to be sung surely.
@@geoffreypiltz271 and so it came to pass.
Can you legitimately change the words of a renowned poet to fit your song?
Dunno but Alex has done a first rate job😜😜
Answer?.......
Yes!
One genius helping another!
Who are we to question them, we mere mortals?!
Alex's version scans better.
Bad english? It's brilliant!
Let it be noted that the Romans built the wall to exclude tha Caledonians.
No it wasn't. It was built to control cattle raiding from both sides of the wall and so protect the Stanegate, the road from Carlisle to Newcastle and the shortest route across Britain.
