I had bought a bit of Brisket from ALDI £7.50 ish. Put a bbq rub on it and a dash of liquid smoke and a bit of chopped onion in the pot. Slow cooker for six hours or so with beef stock and red wine. Took it out, wrapped in foil with a little bit of butter on top let it go cold over night in fridge. Following day diced brisket up put a bit more bbq rub on then added brown sugar and Baby Rays bbq sauce and a little apple cider vinegar heated it thoroughly in large pan till sticky brown. If it gets to sticky add a tablespoon of water. Brilliant in a bun with coleslaw I ain’t no chef but it turned out pretty good even the wife said so. So good I’m going to do again for the family over Easter with a bigger bit of Brisket. The TGI stuff did look good I must say, and probably a lot easier then doing it from scratch. I have done beef short ribs in a slow cooker as well they were pretty cheap to buy. Nice with mash and winter vegetables or do them in a bbq sauce.
sounds delicious Charles great effort. Something very rewarding and satisfying when you do it yourself from scratch. All the best and happy Easter mate.
Best bit , when I was young I used to drive my mum mad because I always tried to peel the outside edge off the top of the beef joint, loved it, mind you I used to pick the top off a pork joint as well.
Great videos I hope this channel grows and grows, honest and proper reviews of uk supermarket foods that people actually eat , I’ve just managed to buy two packs today for half price £3.50 each bargain lol 😂
Best way to serve them is with plain rice with the sauce from the silver foil poured over it or in a hot pitta bread with some salad and the sauce poured over the top.
Hi, Gareth the burnt ends review I must say we had never heard of these, so the wife came home with the said items, whoop whoop what a delicious tea we had Saturday they were Gorgeous, Many thanks Gareth take care and a happy Easter to you and all the family..
If u ever do a video trying the Fridays rack of ribs, try a couple of end ribs with no sauce on - its vile & tasteless with no meat texture, its the sauce that makes them tasty. Tesco do bottle of Jack Daniels bbq sauce same stuff that is in the pouch. Deffo gonna try this though looks lovely.
The issue with these BBQ things is that although you can do them from scratch by the time you actually buy the meat, buy all the stuff to make the rub and cook them it would cost as much to make them as to buy them. Same for the beef ribs. When they make these things you have to cook them for 16 to 18 hours at least in a smoker NOT an oven.
@@BaldFoodieGuy yes they tend to use those smokers made out of oil drums and old cars and all sorts of stuff.... but thinks that can control the temperature in. When they do burnt ends they usually cook either tri-tip or brisket at about 100 - 150 degrees F in a smoker and then once the briskets are cooked remove the burnt ends and recook them the result is a smoke ring inside the meat, and flavor like you wouldn't believe. If you are going to cook stuff that is authentic like those burnt ends you sampled you need a large array of kit they are not just something you can lob in the oven for half and hour and hope for the best. Additionally if you look at the ingredients the number of spices and herbs and stuff you would need for the rub would cost you about 20 quid before you even thought about the meat aspect. And brisket is not all that cheap in the UK It is in the States... and most butchers or supermarkets here would not know what tri-tip is let alone how to cut meat to get it.
I recently bought some burnt ends from Lidll's for under £4. They didn't have any sauce, which suited me. They were pukka. I wouldn't have paid £7.50 and there were no bones involved. It was all meat, which was great.
i tried this yesterday after watching your review and i enjoyed it, the beef was lovely, i don't think its worth the money, but i'm still going to buy another one! ty
Hi Gareth glad you enjoyed these ,mine still in freezer so look forward ,like you say got to look at all food , especially new, it's expensive ,but , quality ,but like everyone else ,got to start watching my 💰 money ,support local butchers, send in recipes ,thanks Gareth
Hi, Gareth. Thanks for another brill review. I've never heard of those before. They look superb.. Way out of my price range but they do look tempting lol. Keep up the spot on work. Best wishes from Scotland.
Morrisons do their own v similar range (exactly like this, same internal packaging etc) they have the beef ribs, brisket or burnt ends with the nicest bourbon/BBQ sauce (550g). Until approx 1 month ago they were £4 each or 2 for £7 they now £4.50 or 2 x for £8. Each packet serves 2 & so quite reasonable for such a tasty (as good as a restaurant) meal (do mine with baked spud & too much butter!).
I love low and slow cooked meat! The best I've ever had was at a music and beer festival at a pub near me. I had hog roast in a bap with apple sauce. Had a few pints of strong Kent cider too!

Iceland have got a TGI Friday online deal on at the moment. £25 for nearly £30 worth of food. And those burnt ends are included, and pulled pork and hot dogs etc. Get in there foodies 👍
I wouldn’t normally buy these as they’re a bit on the expensive side but after watching your vid, I’m straight down to Iceland to try them. Great channel mate all the best 👍🏼
I think these would be better heated up in a pressure cooker because they won't dry out so much and you would finish them off in the oven for 3 minutes or under the grill with the sauce on, thats how I do my baby back ribs, they take 20 minutes from raw
Loving the videos, I am originally from the North West - Bolton, Astley Bridge to be exact, been living here in Denmark for 22 Years now, I do miss the ready / frozen meals from the UK, Denmark is catching on but nowhere near like in the UK, would propose to be able to send you some stuff from Denmark, you might want to review ?, obviously not frozen stuff, but non perishable stuff 🙂

that meat does look tender. well done to Iceland. again. they'll love you for promoting their meals! lol.. when i first saw the video before i clicked. i thought it was coal ! lol. then it looked like prunes... must try these. thanks for this.
got some today gonna give them to my mum as she helps me loads since my wife went into care she will love these. Can't argue yes this range is pricey but quality buy cheaper but sometimes get poor quality. I have got ribs from the butchers and then done all the marinade and price wise about the same by the time all components are got.
hi Gavin beef short ribs which come in a rack of 8 cost less than a fiver but i live in n/ireland where things generally cost a little bit more than on the mainland,my daughter and i cook them all the time. we buy them at our local butchers so i think things like these are cheaper than that out of supermarkets granted you have to prepare them yourself but that way you really do know what youre eating . cheers chum
I can buy and beef joint and have exactly the same result (unintentionally 🤪) once again Iceland have their prices a bit to high for me… 🥺 glad you enjoyed them though 😋😘 xx
dont need boiling water for the sauce sachet, its just to thaw it out, a cup of water from the hot tap will do the job in about 5 minutes, and you dont need to do it if its already liquified. an hour on the worktop on its own will do it. a kettle uses upwards of 1000 watts,, think of how much money you will save by not boiling it. great review looked awesome.
