As far as I am concerned, this is the best overall heavy metal song ever written. I say overall because it has all the great elements of metal, yet it's totally accessible to people who aren't familiar or comfortable with metal. Not too much screaming, includes truly beautiful guitar work, tackles a universal subject, catchy groove, infectious heavy bass, etc. There are so many great metal songs out there, but for my money, _Master of Puppets_ is the absolute pinnacle.
@Abdulla Afeef damn killed his whole comment with that 😂😂😂 all jokes aside i love Megadeth but they obv weren’t as big overall as Metallica. I agree with the original comment. This song has everything you could as for in a metal song but still commercial enough and/or melodic that most people would enjoy. And ofc lyrics, bass, drums, guitar everything!
Well-articulated and accurate assertion, I would say..Not Metallica fan, per se, but they really got it right with this one..Catchy ,melodic ,thunderous riffs and a penchant for getting to the crux of serious subject matter..Epic in its ferocity .
As a former addict I can tell you this is so intuitive as a real life experience of being hooked on Cocaine, Meth or Heroin, Even the music is written to simulate the high & the crash! It starts out slow & acoustic, then the pace gradually picks up, the the middle part crescendo(High), before descending back into that frantic pattern. I can tell you that is the day in the life of an addict without the lyric's. The scramble to score, getting high, then coming down and back to frantic need to score again. Such a deep song!
You better believe it. As a long time cocaine addict this song absolutely explained my life day to day. The music explained it. Didn’t need lyrics. You can feel the beginning is the run to find it and then the high in the middle and then the ultimate crash and searching again. Spending 10s of thousands every month and cannot stop! I had heard this album since I was a kid but never listened to it until I hit a teenager. Then got caught up from a weekend good time…don’t we all remember how it starts. This song then made perfect sense one day when I put the cd on in my car and had the top down driving in the country and all the sudden this song sank in! I pulled over and started it over and it was my life! This song was me and millions of others!
Drug use was very popular back then in the 80s (which is when this song was released) with crack, to list one popular example. The issue still continues today with drugs like opioids, to list another popular example. It is by Christ that people successfully overcome drug addiction.
Now don't throw things at me... I never heard this song. But i have heard the song title and seen the album cover. This took us on a journey. Didn't know how it would go. Loved the interlude in the middle! But you are right all the riffs are good! All 4 are/were talented!!! Amazing the songs and sounds they they keep coming up with!
How did I miss this? MY freaking FAVORITE Metallica Album ever!!! Could we do "Sanitarium" soon guys? Sorry but your fave part is all Cliff Burton. Much like Randy Rhodes, Cliff was a classical trained musician. Metallica owes all their early beauty to that man.
People need to get off of Lars man! He killed it in their first 4 albums. Why this album is under appreciated is beyond me, but I’ve never heard someone who loves this genre say anything but love for this album but other people who like Metallica but didn’t listen to them until freakin Black don’t like their first few albums and I just don’t say a word or it’s gonna be an argument, but if they don’t let it go and keep mouthing about it…I do end up going off and what I say is undeniable! Great album and my absolute favorite besides RTL. Incredible work!! How they show through the music the intensity of cocaine and how it works and then the high…but your right back again screaming for more. It’s perfect! Edit: After hearing in an interview that they received thousands of letters on how this song effected them and knew how someone finally understood what they were facing changed their lives. Even people who had never been introduced to Metallica were told to listen to this song and it changed their life. How many songs can do that? That’s amazing. No clue if they appreciated it or not but as a musician that would be touching. As a cocaine addict for 12 years and spending 10s of thousands a month this song changed my whole perspective on it. I was commenting to someone on here that I had the top down and driving on a great very high morning and popped this in and it all sank in! I was hearing my life from day to day. Absolutely amazing song and I hope they appreciated people that took the time to write to them and didn’t blow them off. It’s an absolute false victory. Whether you use needles or just your nose it grabs you and keeps you the puppet!
Hey guys, check out “Suicide” by Thin Lizzy. The early twin/duelling guitars in that song went on to be developed into a real Thin Lizzy signature sound.
Since you have seen this one you guys should check out the band "Liliac's" cover of this it's fantastic. They are a family band 3 brothers and 2 Sisters.
Have y'all ever heard the S&M1 live version of this song? I've always said it's the greatest version of the greatest song of all time. Not everything from S&M combined well with the orchestrals (and S&M2 was much more miss than hit, even Master of Puppets and especially compared to the first version) but S&M1 Master of Puppets is...... perfection. If y'all react to it that'd be amazing, but even if you don't, just..... get together and listen to it, camera or not. Please.
We need more METALLICA REACTIONS guys. It's 2024 now and you still only have 6 songs in the Metallica playlist, C'MON man. PLEASE DO MORE METALLICA REACTIONS GUYS
@@ViewsFromThe502 Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that my Frankenstein/Saxophone Trivia prize (T-shirt) arrived in the mail today, and it looks great! Thanks very much! ps~During the livestream when I won the shirt a few weeks ago in October, I had requested a song reaction, "Tightrope", by ELO (Electric Light Orchestra), and you guys said you would react to it in November. So I figured I'd follow up to see if you have the song in your queue of reactions to do for this month? You won't regret it, the song rocks! :D (Please be sure to react to the studio album version.)
Shit, y'all did All Nightmare Long?? It's not on your channel currently, did it get taken down? Damn I been on a watching spree of y'all and that would've been a big, biiiiig priority watch.

Listen to the whole album. Master Of Puppets is often regarded as the best heavy metal album of all time, and i can totally see why.
