Battle styles is very underrated in my opinion, obviously it’s not a very popular set and it’s very middle of the road, but $95 booster boxes is something you can’t argue with. You’re almost guaranteed to break even or make money if you’re into that, as well as great value for the average collector.
Vivid Voltage is the best option for me. The reason is the "Amazing Rare" cards in the set. Sadly, this card type is not continued in future sets, but in that case they could end up in higher price ranges soon. Especially because the reprints are mostly in a bad print condition here in Germany.
I'm going the Japanese route the box art alone the storage space and the fact that it's much cheaper the cards are actually printed nicer mostly and the grading isn't too far off from the English version. For an investment purpose.
Vivid voltage makes the most sense, the pikachu in 5-10 years will be even more desirable. Always thinking about which set has the most expensive chase card and then refer to print rate and date out of print.

So interesting to hear your take with the competitive nature of cards in mind. People are writing Battle Styles off as “bad as Rebel Clash,” and pegging it as the reason the modern Pokémon market is “crashing.” Curious to see how we look back on this set in 5-10 years.
This was an amazing video! Thank you so much! I have LOVED Battle Styles! I pulled the Gold Houndoom, Rainbow Rare Cheryl, and many more cards with market values above $30 per card. I am more of a collector/investor than a player. But, the game is fascinating! It reminds me of chess.
Idk why some people were so mad about these current sets and the increased printing. I love it. I can now find booster boxes and pay retail. There are some really strong cards in these. The fusion strike elite trainer box got me back into heavily collecting again.
Just started watching and I've invested in 1 of each Vivid voltage product from the blisters to ETBs and Booster boxes, I feel the the Pikachu vmax, full art and rainbow rare outdo the single Charizard from darkness ablaze, this is not including shining fates if thats included in the video

I’ve got a vivid voltage booster box sitting on my shelf. Got it for £138 which is pretty good. The reason I got it for investment was because it’s the first and last “Main set” to feature Amazing rares. An other reason is because of the Pikachu cards in this set.

I don’t usually sell or trade cards, so financially I tend not to care as much. But functionally, that’s another story. And boy-howdy, does BattleStyles have some good functions! Already built a Rapid-Strike style that has been brutal. All just from one ETB

So as a players competitive set battle styles yeah I think it’s the best investment since ur getting a year out of it rotation wise, and because it’s unfriendly pull rate for chase cards has it at all time low for a box MSRP, makes it the ultimate players set but not ideal for collectors at all. Especially with the amount of reprints battle styles will see over the next year, I suggest one sells high on everything but the TY 5 alt and alt art Vmax BlueShifu

Yes modern sets can do well but i cant help but think of other 'modern' sets from like 5 years ago with full arts n that being worth like £5. There are surprising amount of relatively worthless sets from between vintage and modern. Having said that trends change.

Love how everyone is coming into Pokemon for investment purposes because Logan Paul and Logic suddenly brought eyes on the TCG. Before 2020, the cards weren't worth nearly as much as they are now, stores had shelves full, and no one but true collectors cared about opening packs. It's stupid as hell how many think you can send just about any card into PSA and think you're gonna rich overnight and how inflated the price of graded cards have been. It's not about collecting for the sake of the cards, but because of how you expect to get rich off of it in 5 years. Wrong mindset. I hope to God that the market crashes big time so the scalpers and "investors" get scared from collecting. It's not about the money, yet almost every UA-camr that does box breaks shows the price of the cards or says "this card is worth this much in a PSA 10". PSA had to shut down because everyone sent $2 V cards in to get graded thinking they'd make hundreds of dollars off of them. Pathetic what collecting Pokemon has come to. Sports is the same way, but worse. Cards worth thousands of dollars right off the shelf that are new released sets. You can still buy base set holos in near mint for pretty cheap still. The modern cards are way inflated in value and everyone knows it.
I'll enjoy benefitting off all those over populated PSA cards when the value tanks and I can buy a bunch of PSA 9 & 10s for dirt cheap for my collection
I don’t hope it crashes, I hope it gets printed to fill capacity. Why would u root for my collection to lose value while i play? This anti collecting mentality is over the top, like KIDS buy price guides or did to know their values, I did at 10 so I guess I was a JERK then too lol. Everyone only sees extremes these days.
And no I’m not rooting for the scalpers if I’m rooting Pokémon to stay up in value but printed to full capacity. Yes I want everything at msrp, but I’m not gonna root against my own collection so I can say I’m more pure than even a child’s love for the game, which when adults declare it’s laughable. Like ok, some KIDS care about the values of their cards, some don’t, but don’t use that as the defense.
@@k.d.5772 You're not wrong. We have our different opinions on how we value the cards. It's not over yet. Graded cards will be coming back to their owners soon. Watch this. ua-cam.com/video/uTprxDTsrEQ/v-deo.html What he is saying is what I'm trying to get at. I don't want anyone's collection to go down in value, but collecting Pokemon isn't just about the price value of the cards. I was a kid in the 90s when we didn't care about the value of the cards in that way. That's how it should be. Just like how other TCG's are still very low in value, but many people are still collecting. Pokemon was hyped up beyond it's true value in the past year.

@@k.d.5772 facts. And besides, it's not like you're at a total loss here. I'm sure the cards will rise up again. If not in months, then definitely in years. That's always how it goes. Price goes up, then it goes down, then it stays there for a while, then it skyrockets again.
Ok I get that they are going to be rotated out but aside from the competition aspect why is this a bad thing? Wouldent it make older series more valuable? Im just trying to wrap my head around the phasing out series thing
I think what he’s getting at is they’re not going to be in play anymore. Therefore the value will already be going up. From an investing standpoint that’s not the perfect time to invest. Usually you want to buy at the low before the market for it goes up.
You can’t put invest in the same sentence as playable it’s just bad business when the sets playable cards will drop and won’t go up playable isn’t collectible.

Whether we collect because the love of the art of the cards, the hobby of collecting cards in general, and also investing. But an artificial bubble was created and we will see a correction. It's not over yet. Graded cards will be coming back to their owners soon. Watch this.
ua-cam.com/video/uTprxDTsrEQ/v-deo.html
What he is saying is what I'm trying to get at.
@@foresthill538 I'm sorry, but you kinda just sound like a terrible person. You're basically saying you WANT people to lose money just because you don't like the fact that they view Pokemon as an investment. You also made it pretty clear that you're not just talking about scalpers, but also literally ANYONE who invests in Pokemon. That's pretty ugly dude...
Have one of each, but opened a lot of vivid, and soon chilling reign
I managed to pull 3 full art marnies from 15 random sword and sheild boosters it was insane!!
Haven't finished the video yet, my guess is gonna be Darkness Ablaze for Charizard V-Max, Eternatus, and Crobat V
Edit: Just passed the Darkness Ablaze part, I now see that I'm wrong
Don't forget that we'll probably get the charizard Vmax theme deck that Japan already have. It'll most likely tank the darkness ablaze variant price.
@@e8efs69se wait really? Thats awesome!
@@e8efs69se Good. The whole market is inflated. Every single card should be much lower than they are except for vintage, out of print set cards in near mint to mint condition.
@@MandoMahri We already have the Venusaur VMAX and Blastoise VMAX Battle Box in English. All we need is Charizard to complete the trio :D
@@e8efs69se that's awesome I gotta get that blastoise one hes my favorite Kanto starter and I can't wait for a charizard one!
To wrap up, I agree as a comp online PTCGO player that BST is the best and most value (not valuable since if u tried to scalp this booster box u had to literally lose money lol with the price drop this box has went thru since release lol. I legit bought my first one the week before it fell like 59 dollars in msrp.) for competitive players, and with the hype and chase cards in the upcoming sets the time to take advantage of these booster boxes at all time lows is now. So yeah I am waiting on my third booster box (yes I was locked out of buying these for a year don’t judge me) at 110 lol and it feels like Christmas in June 🔥🙏👍
No mention of the 25th anniversary set kind of surprising I would think that would be the best to be "investing" in.
It’s a mini set like detective pikachu and official info hasn’t been released yet on it, although the merch list has been leaked.
@@Carl_McMelvin yeah Ik but time flys by and look at the 20th set “generations”/xy evo those blew up in price
Excuse me? The Tyranitar and Rapid Strike Alt Urshifu cards dropped to less than $110 already? Holy crap I'm glad I didn't get tempted by the hype for this set. Lmfao
Yeah the drop in both sealed product value and chase card singles is like at 40 percent unlike u I copped my first box at 160 Smfh, but at 110 I just copped cause value wise for players that is going to be the best price all year for booster boxes considering the hype over the next 3 sets
@@k.d.5772 facts. And besides, it's not like you're at a total loss here. I'm sure the cards will rise up again. If not in months, then definitely in years. That's always how it goes. Price goes up, then it goes down, then it stays there for a while, then it skyrockets again.
Compare shining fates and champions path please ur the greatest PTCGO streamer ever if u do
One has a shiny vault and the other doesn’t I guess.
Anyone know when the vv reprint is landing in the UK?
Ok I get that they are going to be rotated out but aside from the competition aspect why is this a bad thing? Wouldent it make older series more valuable? Im just trying to wrap my head around the phasing out series thing
I think what he’s getting at is they’re not going to be in play anymore. Therefore the value will already be going up. From an investing standpoint that’s not the perfect time to invest. Usually you want to buy at the low before the market for it goes up.
Have vivid booster box. BS booster box. And chilling reign on the way. I also grabbed 2 chilling reign build and battles for very close to msrp.
I’ve seen battle styles booster boxes going for $100 (US) on TCGplayer.
Saw one for 89 on eBay yesterday
What deck is more likly to have fossial pokemon cause i really want to collect them
Someone needs to give the people who think battlestyles will actually see a dramatic increase in the short term some Narcan.
Bro I love the way you think. It makes battle styles more valuable just by kiddos like you not collecting them.
@@isaronharaden294 I have over 5000 of them.
Sounds like u need to take ur own advice or you’ll od
@@Bryanox7 didn’t buy the set expected price increase, also bought a lot of bulk
@@turtelz217 it sounds like you did OD bc nothing you've said correlates to anything
You can’t put invest in the same sentence as playable it’s just bad business when the sets playable cards will drop and won’t go up playable isn’t collectible.
I love your intro
Think investing in base set psa graded cards is the way to go. They don’t ever be printed again, modern is everywhere think it’ll drop below rrp soon enough.
Sounded like wossy wanted to call it rebel trash
Shining fates??
Why did you start walking away from the microphone @ 4:22 lmao
Nevermind, I think my youtube bugged out. Its normal after refreshing
Wossy, what about Amazing Rare Jirachi for Vivid Voltage playability? Telescopic Sight has a lot of good play too
The best set to invest in RN is bats... can b found for 90-100$ and isn't a guaranteed instant reprint like all other swsh sets are... bats is underrated and cheap
Lol they reprinted this already and will probably see another wave next year as well for battle styles so I wouldn’t say this isn’t a guaranteed reprint. Considering it’s gonna remain in the rotation for over a year it will almost definitely be reprinted just as all SWsH sets are being Rn
@@k.d.5772 they didn't reprint bats lol it's still initial print run
Also battle style will be the cheapest set RN likely till 2022
My advice is Eevee Heroes :D
Another video that is twice as long as it needs to be
If nothing else, Battle Styles is probably going to be the cheapest booster box you will find. Literally hundreds of the things on TCGplayer for right about $100.
I love you
Rn? Evolving skies, vivid voltage, & cosmic eclipse
CHILLING REIGN will be BETTER than all of those Combined
Just what is cheapest is what I want.
I've put more money into battle styles than any other set on PTCGO. Like a comical amount but not content creator amount.
Bro I cracked 1000(feels like that much lol) packs or maybe 500, definitely enough to get around 3000/4500 cards (I assume like u, u do chase cards on the app cause we could buy a house chasing cards in booster boxes irl) and had to trade for the Ty V alt art and Both urshifu alt art Vmaxes anyway lmfao got like 10 victimi vmaxes tho so there’s that
@@k.d.5772 lol exactly Im only missing a couple I need the gold Houndoom nd the alt art Urshifu VMax for both. I think I'm at at least 800 packs lol second most I've opened is shinning fates tryna get all the shinys
@@MoreThanAGam3r lmfao 🤣 dude I feel ur pain, I got the BlueShifu vmax for 31 BST packs after I gave in, I can’t believe cracked like 500 packs and it cost me 31 lol 😂 to get it. Shockingly the ty art Alt V is only like 10 packs or something, anyway If u trade a lot on PTCGO add me - ktown5885 trainer name. I want to complete battle styles without dumping too much more cash on code cArd lots LOL 😂
I'd say vivid voltage is the worst by far in terms of playability there are basically no meta cards in vivid voltage, except maybe telescopic sight.
Is playability going to matter in 5-10 years??
I feel the same so you should never but one on ptcgo
Rebel clash is gonna be like steam siege...
Nah, that's an overstatement. Rebel Clash is bad, but not THAT bad.
@@Carl_McMelvin bro i must have been stoned when I said this i ment crimson invasion haha. I loved steam siege, volcanion was probably my second favorite deck I ever played next to sylveon-gx.
Well in ptcgo bst is losing value, viv has no value and the swsh base is the best pack right now
Sword and shield base is experience asf and I can’t find any packs anywhere, just battle styles and some sun/moon.
What if we are watching this while playing among us...
A lot of people are keeping this for long term purposes when it won't be like that. Most of the pokemon products that people are buying for thousand of thousands of dollars are products that people have childhood memories about. Now we are literally stopping kids for buying this sets because they are too overpriced and they won't make any memories about them, and furthermore you will find this products everywhere in 20 years, because almost everyone are keeping them sealed, so none of this kids will ever want to buy a box. You won't be millionaire because of pokemon cards, so buy them short term.
Lol that is total nonsense. Literally every set that Pokemon has EVER released (with the exception of Steam Siege) increased in value by a minimum of 50% within the first 5 years, and the vast majority increased by 100%. Once you hit the 10 year mark you're talking about 1200% returns at a minimum. Go look at the prices of the Black&White sets. If you think investing in sealed product is bad for the hobby then fine, I respect your opinion. But please... let's not pretend that long term Pokemon investing isn't profitable or that the new sets won't show the same long term returns that EVERY other past set has shown.
@@uthmanibn-jafar1159Of course they will have a lot of value long term too, but what I wanted to mean is that I don't think they won't have the same impact as the wizard of the coast sets, I think this is like a thing that is happening because the influence of a mediatic star plus the fact that only a few people kept them sealed. It's like an advice for the people losing his mind now thinking they will make a fortune, but I'm interested in discusing it actually, or now what other people think, so I welcome other responses 👍🏻

I feel like rebel clash got overprinted lol 😂
Battle Styles seems to be very underrated. Looking at it on its own, it is a very solid set with nice chase cards that are memorable. However, it is overshadowed by just even more hype sets such as Chilling Reign and Evolving Skies. Based on that, it might be a safe assumption/bet that Pokemon Company will be less inclined to print a ton of BS compared to VV, DA, CR, and ES.
Yeah, the exact same thing happened with Call of Legends. Some of the most expensive older sets today are ones that nobody wanted when they were released.
Good afternoon sir
I just bought myself a 10 pack case of battle styles, only because I feel like sets that get ignored that have good cards are always the ones that become valuable
Print rate Is way too high
@@turtelz217 yet so is charizard and y'all still collect and oversell that garbage fire
