Wossy, you should do a video about how local card shops are price gouging far past the MSRP... Hard to support local card shops when they do stuff like that. I had to pass an a $100 Shining Fates ETB today... this ain’t right.

Definitely a choice which is why I passed, I understand supply and demand but they ARE the retail spots (think MSRP), and they’re charging double a week or two after release. That ain’t kool, and we’re expected to take it with a smile, grateful that we even got anything even though it comes at a brutal mark up. So we’re suppose to stay loyal and supportive of LGS in a pandemic but we get met with hard-ball business tactics?? It ain’t right. How you gonna say “one a piece so everybody gets some” but turn around and high buck out the gate. Sounds like a one sided relationship to me. If it’s about money, then go all the way and sell the the most to the highest bidders to liquidate inventory then turn around and use that money right away to reinvest into your business and make more money with that revenue. To me, textbook price gouging with supposed “fairness for all” claims. Anyway, my two cents, support your local game store in ways you see fit.
@@xerathyn I never said it wasn’t, what I said was it’s hard to say with absolute certainty that LGS’s are gouging based solely off price due to LGS’s always having a rather fluid standard of pricing to begin with. Even in the case you mention, it takes a lot more than “two stores relatively close are selling at vastly different prices” to be certain of gouging in a market as fluid as that of tcgs. My main point is that to make a video talking about it requires knowing not only that it is occurring but that it is occurring at a significant rate while also being able to give solid examples of it. Such is why most people have only been discussing it in passing in videos rather than making videos about it alone. I don’t disagree that price gouging is occurring, however, I recognize that substantial proof of such for LGSs is hard to come by due to the nature of how LGS’s have always operated.

I find it so unfair that only america and japan get pkemon center exclusives while we in europe dont get shit and have to pay multiple the price for the special cards they hand out only for a limited time...
They printed thousands of special delivery pikachu and since its not committed to a series or set theres nothing stopping them from running it again at any time. My beliefs the current prices are pure FOMO.

Pokemon tcg shouldn't be all about money it should be about the cards and the fun memories we have with them.
It doesn't matter what you think it should be. It is what it is. When cards are thousands of dollars you should choose wisely what cards you want to buy. Don't buy the hyped cards, buy the cards no one is talking about. If you just want to complain about the current situation then that's fine. The truth is there are a lot of fun things to do in life outside of Pokémon. If Pokémon is too much of a burden then forget about it for a while and come back in a year when things may have changed. I personally haven't been buying much. Also btw there are still plenty of cards out there that aren't expensive and are still just as fun to collect.
@LK Gaming Reviews Because when 50 year old men are buying 100 shining fates etbs and then scalp them at 150$ it alienates those who cant afford that price from the hobby and therefore damages the core community of people who actually want to collect.
I like promos, I buy a few instead of 1, I keep one to myself and the rest safe and sleeved in a binder, I may grade them, I may sell them raw but if I get in early I never lose money and they look beautiful lol.
Prime cards right now are on the rise. I feel like the ex (except gold stars) and Diamond and pearl era cards are overlooked. Was looking at secret wonders lugia (low pop) and a bunch of LVL Xs and with the Diamond and pearl remakes idk maybe more interest in those sets will increase.
I'm kind of unsure about investing in steam siege break cards because the production numbers were pretty high, but most people didn't buy too much of it, and most of the people who got it were children that didn't take care of them. I was just wondering what anyone else thinks. (I commented this on Both of his investment videos)
Anything in modern outside of staff and prerelease promo's is never gonna reach the heights of vintage WOTC because it's way too oversaturated with everyone and there get rich quick ideas being a dime a dozen sending chases off to be graded and listed on ebay often before the set is even released and it sucks scalpers are cleaning out shelves like it is because it's killed off the fun of the hobby
I have one autographed Marnie that I pre-ordered (I live in Japan). It was sold out pretty fast, even the second print run. The whole product (binder+card+3 boosters) was 2000yen. Just the card worths 12000 yen here in japan.
I think gold stars need more love. Crazy low pull rates and incredible artwork. Low psa population and not as many were printed because Pokémon wasn’t popular at the time.
I was going to comment this aswell! Picked up a gold star celebi from a card store right before covid for $100 and got it graded at a PSA9. I think that is an example of how awesome the gold star era cards are as an investment.
It's in the Netherlands a bit unusual to upload 2-3 times a day a I think a lot of people (including me) appreciate that and want to do something back.
Thank you so much for this video, I haven’t collected in 10 years since I sold my OG Pokémon cards when I was an innocent non guided child for a stupid low amount and now that I’m an adult this will definitely help me pick up where I left off.💝
Your info and some comments here convinced me to invest into an EX 5 condition Special Delivery Pikachu. Regardless if it maintains or increases in value in the future, I'm glad to add it to my collection. Love your vids :)
Really makes you wish you had a time machine haha. I wasn't a huge collector or anything but I looked through my old cards and had some decent ones in there, like espeon prime. Not super valuable but still annoying
I about threw up (in a good way) when you mentioned Japanese Umbreon Prime's NON-MINT condition price. I was an Eeevelution fanatic back in those days, and I invested $500 to obtain both the Japanese Espeon Prime and Umbreon Prime SEALED in their little clear promo pack thing. The moment I opened them, I placed them in a special magnetic card case and that's where they've remained all this time. The idea that my $500 investment has now become a potential $6000 payoff MINIMUM (assuming I get $3000 each, which is worst case scenario because they're mint as hell and thus would likely get much more based on your comparison) when I never intended to get any money from them to begin with is just mind boggling. Thanks for making my day. :D
You should probably double sleeve and top loader, magnetic cases without sleeves leave room for the cards to be banged around in, also it's not air tight sealed so dust and air will curve and scratch foils
Just bought around 5-6 hundred at yard sale. Bottom says 2011 some say 2019.Still in wraper. I'm trying to learn about them, cause I'm a baseball card collector. Anyone have any ideal what they could be worth.
I mean... There's gold Stars and crystal types but those are never going to hit prices like that of the worlds promos (unless you have a mint Rayquaza, zard or umbreon) but they're more affordable than some of those other one or two of a kind cards and they'll be garanteed to hold value
Great video! I picked up a few cards after watching myself. I got 2 copies of each birthday Pikachu. Your video seemed to trigger a buyout as theres a lot less Birthday Pikachu's on the market... RIP.
my purchases for the future are the full set of mcdonalds 25th anniversary set along with the full Indonesian KFC Promo. Also bought three shiny pikachus from the general mills set!
I think E Series Japanese is a great potential set to collect atm, the holos are going from upwards of £10 and there's an absolutely miniscule supply of these on ebay!
A card I think will go up is the japanese players ceremony 2020. I know its sent out to people for playing and earning a certain amount of points but with 2020 being a bad year for in person tourneys, it could potentially be a rare card to get down the line.
I'm sorry, I love your content and watch every day... but I have to voice my opinion here. I really dislike when you do "investment" videos. I love you for your focus on the game. This "investment" outlook (in my eyes) just feeds the toxic scalping which you have vocally denounced on the channel before. If I'm wrong here, I guess that's on me. But as a genuine fan, I ask you to reconsider doing these videos while Pokemon is in the climate it is in right now. Much love.
I disagree, as a long term collector I want to know my cards are valuable and sought after in the future, they provide not only happiness to me as a collection but also a financial safety net. Also it's good to know what cards are likely to get expensive in the future so I know how to prioritise my spending now so I don't worry about never being able to afford a particular card in the future! Example: Gold Stars, Shining Neo, Tournament prizes etc
@@ptc2307 Exactly! Prioritizing is super important to a serious collector, Imagine knowing nothing about the value of a card then spending 300$ on it! Likely a month later its gonna be selling for 150$ and you've just wasted 150$

I freakin' love that practicing smiling Marnie card. I wish/hope I could get myself one! Really wish they made an English version, as I collect English cards though.
Great video, I love collecting sets and love the artwork and value of cards as well. Which sets should we actually be looking for while we can still buy some booster boxes and packs still?
Wossie, I sent in every single card that I like, to CGC To be graded. I sent it in bulk, and am in zero hurry to get it back. That way I'm set for the future if I ever sell, but currently don't expect to ever sell. This includes several $2 cards like full art houndoom ex
@@kevinduong5477 I paid Subgrade only for the 10% that I know are worth money now, like e3 red cheeks pikachu, golden zekrom, etc, as long as they were in potentially great shape. No need for sub grades on something that couldn’t get a 9 or 10
The cards with the most growth are the sleeper japanese promos.. if it's well known and high priced upon release there's more risk that it'll either drop in value or not appreciate very much Lillie's Clefairy from Dream League is a good example it was 15$ at release and now around 150$ that's 10x growth in a few years

For those who don't like these investing videos, you don't have to watch them. Watching them just adds to the views. Let the views show what types of videos he should be making. It's his option trying to help us not waste money in Pokemon cards. Buying stuff that isn't or wont be worth it, grading cards that wont increase in value, etc.
"You don't have to watch them" is such a poor argument. You are right. We don't HAVE to watch them. But we have to continue living in the world where we can't play the game we love because the investment outlook has gotten out of hand. We watch because we support wossy, but we voice our opinions because we want to see change happen.
But that's not this video. I'm explicitly saying that scalping modern product is a bad investment. You need to look for obscure promo cards or products that nobody else is interested in. That is in no way shape or form encouraging what is happening lately. Quite the opposite. Not only am I completely opposed to scalpers (and have been extremely vocal) but I'm pointing out that from a business standpoint it's a poor idea too :p
I think the rainbow chunkachu is a bad example. The pull rate on that card is 1/1100 packs. Not a ton of people are getting them. That's easily 3-4x harder than the hardest cards to pull out of most other sets.
Yeah but every single person that pulls it is getting it graded. Atm vivid voltage has a very low print run but within the next few years the population of PSA 10 rainbow pikachus will be crazy so it won’t be worth much. Especially right now because Pokémon is about to completely start over producing cards to meet the demand people have right now.
@@tayonic5499 Compared to vintage sure. But compared to most modern cards no. This one will be way less populated. Its a bad card to use for this argument imo.
The pull rate may be low, but that's not the point. Loads of people will either sell it immediately (buyer will likely grade it) or grade it themselves. That means a massive population of graded pikachu VMAX.
@@tayonic5499 Agree to disagree. The logic just isnt there. Yall are acting like these cards are flying out by the dozens. They simply arent. Thats not how it works.
Mimikyu SM163 promo is a good investment if nothing else because it's japanese counterpart sells for hundreds of dollars graded while the american promo is only 4$ at the moment... everyone slept on Evolutions Charizard holo for 7$ for years and now it's around 80$ raw and into the hundreds graded you're talking 10x growth for an initial 7$ investment
Got extremely lucky with special delivery Pikachu I bought 3 items back in November 2020 only 1 item shipped as the other 2 orders were canceled. But pokemon center emailed me saying sorry here is a $20 credit and we will still ship you the promos! So I got all 3.
Why tho? Pokemon shouldn't be about the money! but since people like you treat it like currency then the people who just want to enjoy their hobby are left driving HOURS to find some sealed product. if you want to make turn a card game into a money mine then go take yugioh or something no one will mind but not Pokemon:((
Frosted Caribou made a great video on why videos like these are cancerous for the pokemon TCG. First and foremost these are toys and shouldn't be treated like assets.
It's a video explaining the kind of cards which hold value. It specifically explain why buying ordinary product to invest is a silly idea. I think you've gotten the wrong idea. I had made the point you just made in multiple videos lately. I've taught Business for 15 years, I know what I'm talking about :)
@@Ptcgradio The video associates investment and money growth with pokemon cards, that's the main point here. The video feeds that concept simply through the title alone, and when people aren't able to buy limited edition promo's from Japan or other hard to source cards etc, they'll start chasing the Rainbow Rare Chonka Chu or Shiny Charizard from modern sets as they're still valuable and more available (to a degree). This isn't entirely about the business side of things, it's about the psychology too. Honestly watch frosted caribou's video it makes a very valid argument. I'm not saying your video is wrong or lacking merit, it's just maybe not the right time to release a video like this when the situation is grim :
I enjoyed the video. He’s not and never has promoted scalpers. I play, collect and invest. I love the cards but I also love the cards that will be worth money in the future. Not that I will sell them down the road but it’s just nice to have cards that have value. I’m sure you understand when you pull a regular rare vs a ultra rare or Full art you like it better.
Why are they bad for the community????.... I definitely wouldn’t be in the hobby if they weren’t investable and just a money sink.... I’d be in D&D instead.
@@Card_Capital Because these chase cards are garbage and ruin the game for the people who actually play it. Gee you want an etb from the new set? Too bad it's now 4x as expensive as it should be because it's being bought out because of a single card that doesn't even hold meta value.

Was looking at secret wonders lugia (low pop) and a bunch of LVL Xs and with the Diamond and pearl remakes idk maybe more interest in those sets will increase.
i just finished my mint prime set cuz i was scared they'll go up
I'm kind of unsure about investing in steam siege break cards because the production numbers were pretty high, but most people didn't buy too much of it, and most of the people who got it were children that didn't take care of them.
Been buying all the prime cards I can! Hardest art style I’ve ever seen.
I almost have then all myself! Just missing celebi and umbreon
They already have love, they are the most sought after cards of the ruby sapphire era
What about the GameStop exclusive promos here in the US, in your opinion, would they be worth getting graded?
Thank you for your video and your input! Much appreciated love your channel
I holding the vmax pikachu from VV its being slept on, the regular one
Just bought around 5-6 hundred at yard sale. Bottom says 2011 some say 2019.Still in wraper. I'm trying to learn about them, cause I'm a baseball card collector. Anyone have any ideal what they could be worth.
I mean... There's gold Stars and crystal types but those are never going to hit prices like that of the worlds promos (unless you have a mint Rayquaza, zard or umbreon) but they're more affordable than some of those other one or two of a kind cards and they'll be garanteed to hold value
How do you all think about staff cards? I think they have a great potential
Lol i just grabbed a celebi ex 117/115 for $50 from a garage sale.... and its a 10 or a 9 if i grab it as a 10 i just payed off my college debt
Great info, keep it coming! Love the channel
Thank you love your content:) What do you think about the prerelease Charizard from VIV?
Only gonna rise because it's a limited time promo. Problem is a LOT of them got graded which means the graded value will always be a little surprised.
@@Ptcgradio thanks for the answer.
Awesome video. Thanks champ
A card I think will go up is the japanese players ceremony 2020. I know its sent out to people for playing and earning a certain amount of points but with 2020 being a bad year for in person tourneys, it could potentially be a rare card to get down the line.
What are they called
@@chrisramirez9872 pokemon players ceremony 2020
@@ptc2307 I'm not saying it's inherently a bad thing to discuss value. I'm saying *right now* given the situation at hand, it feels wrong.
@@ptc2307 Exactly! Prioritizing is super important to a serious collector, Imagine knowing nothing about the value of a card then spending 300$ on it! Likely a month later its gonna be selling for 150$ and you've just wasted 150$
What do people think about the Thank You Hydreigon card?
I just collect dragon pokemon cards and some of them look fantastic.
I do have a "thank you' Galarian Mr Rhyme i got when I ordered some cards from my local card shop. Thats quite an unusual card.
I love that hugging Pikachu 😍 Got a full set of these 5 promo cards for only 80€ some time ago and I dont regret this 🙈
Thanks for the content 🙏
enjoyed this, never even heard about that pikachu wants a hug, took me a while to find it with the promo name too how do you find these type of cards ? I Love Japanese promo pikachu's but by the time I find them they are already flying up in price :?
I freakin' love that practicing smiling Marnie card. I wish/hope I could get myself one! Really wish they made an English version, as I collect English cards though.
Great video, I love collecting sets and love the artwork and value of cards as well. Which sets should we actually be looking for while we can still buy some booster boxes and packs still?
If my back isn’t that good on my base set is it still worth sending in?
Wossie, I sent in every single card that I like, to CGC To be graded. I sent it in bulk, and am in zero hurry to get it back. That way I'm set for the future if I ever sell, but currently don't expect to ever sell. This includes several $2 cards like full art houndoom ex
Did you pay subgrade for all of them?
@@kevinduong5477 I paid Subgrade only for the 10% that I know are worth money now, like e3 red cheeks pikachu, golden zekrom, etc, as long as they were in potentially great shape. No need for sub grades on something that couldn’t get a 9 or 10
The cards with the most growth are the sleeper japanese promos.. if it's well known and high priced upon release there's more risk that it'll either drop in value or not appreciate very much Lillie's Clefairy from Dream League is a good example it was 15$ at release and now around 150$ that's 10x growth in a few years
Which Japanese packs you recommend to buy?
@@HonestTraveller off the top of my head buy GX ULTRA SHINY and SHINY STAR V and buy Dream League because it has the full art trainers with their pokemon and those cards sell for redonculus money graded well just look at lana's wishwashi in japanese vs the american banana yellow border lol also because dream league packs are still cheap for the moment... honestly buy anything and any of your favorite sun and moon sets in japanese.. that liquid holo is gorgeous on so many cards and they're so much better without that banana yellow border... in my opinion only pay full rate for expensive promos ife you intend to keep them the market is way too oversaturated for them to have signifgant growth unless it's super popular pokemon but even then it's iffy growth
@@fernandomarroquin8901 hey man appreciate the response. I absolutely love the japanese cards and was wanting to collect as well as the English but wasn’t sure where to start. Love the dream league. My dad is a collector still and is obsessed with collecting shiny v boosters and putting away In the loft. He won’t let me open them lol
@@HonestTraveller Japanese has some amazing cards but keep your eye's open cuz there's amazing stuff everywhere like the american general mills pokemon holos .. the galarian ponyta for one.. is a thing of beauty in mint condition I'm happy that i could help.. there's such a bigger collecting world out there than the narrow window a lot of the hype beast Pokemon influencers look through

I saw a listing for a Chinese pika vmax promo... but I thought it was only available in Japan. Is it a fake?
Imma invest in my beloved SF Trapinch, that's the real deal
Thanks!
Pokémon prices inflated so it’s not a good time to invest cuz like a stock u try to buy the dips
I smiled a lot because I think I've been smart. I knew to avoid the "popular" cards and I have a copy of "Pikachu wants a hug" coming back GRADED from PSA this month. I made sure I got 2 well rounded musicians AND 2 signed Marnie's. Great minds think alike Ross 😍😆😆🙌
I collect all of my favorite pokemon: drifblim, Delibird, lickylicky, porygon.... My favorite is a sealed cool porygon
Got Vmax collection boxes!
And a kanto power box
Would the 25th anniversary pikachu be worth something in the next decade?
Mcdo promo? Or the jumbo one? Either way. I think it is. Even if its not going to increase its value. They are cool

Not only am I completely opposed to scalpers (and have been extremely vocal) but I'm pointing out that from a business standpoint it's a poor idea too :p
just please buy what you want and not care about the money side of things :)
@@TriWaZe sorry but you are just wrong in this. I agree with @Adam Barnes
@@tayonic5499 Agree to disagree. The logic just isnt there. Yall are acting like these cards are flying out by the dozens. They simply arent. Thats not how it works.
Soooooo ... Steam Siege?
Mimikyu SM163 promo is a good investment if nothing else because it's japanese counterpart sells for hundreds of dollars graded while the american promo is only 4$ at the moment... everyone slept on Evolutions Charizard holo for 7$ for years and now it's around 80$ raw and into the hundreds graded you're talking 10x growth for an initial 7$ investment
Invest in Dunsparce!!!
fun fact: everyones first until they refresh

Damn thanks for taking 2 other peoples special delivery pikachus.
@@tayonic5499 they were gifts to my kids crybaby
@@r.a.f6579 ok you still got 3 copies when other people didnt get 1 lmao; you're the asshole here lmao
@@tayonic5499 how your acting like I scalped 10 then bragged or resold them. Your just a crybaby your logic is just plain dumb.
Why tho? Pokemon shouldn't be about the money! but since people like you treat it like currency then the people who just want to enjoy their hobby are left driving HOURS to find some sealed product. if you want to make turn a card game into a money mine then go take yugioh or something no one will mind but not Pokemon:((
I would say maybe the charizard promo from the vivid voltage build and battle box
I’m sure you understand when you pull a regular rare vs a ultra rare or Full art you like it better.
please stop making “investment” videos - they’re bad for the community. tcg is in shambles and you’re part of the problem.
Looks like you didn't understand the video.
