I lived in auburn for about ten years and just about everyone has a Bo Jackson legend they've heard before. I was lucky enough to meet him at a Bo Bikes Bama event in 2022. He was so gracious with everyone. Stopped to take a selfie with absolutely every person that asked. Asked their name, shook their hand, thanked them for being there. 100% pure class. Elite athlete, elite human. ❤

I met Bo in 1986 as a young baseball player. He was so gracious with his time. Became an Auburn man at that moment.

Very nice guy. Well spoken, respectful to everyone who approached him. When he was with the Angeles he came to Iowa when our minor league team was affiliated with the Angels. Why he was there I have no idea but he shook hands and talk to people before and after the game. I was 14 then and had grew up loving watching him do what Bo does football and baseball. The guys strength, speed, and power was almost in human. The Raiders were never my team but we all tuned into watch Bo. And when he got hurt it devastated alot of us kids. But luckily he could still play baseball and sometimes you'd catch him on a fishing and hunting channel. Definitely one of my sports heros as a kid. I worked all summer 3 yrs in a row just to be able to buy his Nikes for school alot of us did, it was either Bo Jacksons or Michael Jordan's, and later kids had Shaqs Reeboks with the CO2 cartridge. Man I miss the 80s and 90s.

So he was the man when I was a youngster. As a 10 year old kid watching him do things no one else could on the field was unreal! His time was short, but it was memorable! He is an inspiration.

For the amount of talent and athleticism that Bo had, he was very humble and never had any off-field issues. Pure class and one of the best role models of any athlete to ever live.

Bo Jackson was the closest thing to a superhero I could imagine what a remarkably gifted talented athlete and of course a very Humble man there will never be another Bo Jackson and if not for injuries he may well have made the Hall of Fame in both football and MLB

@@Auditorsarenotcriminals I remember this like it was yesterday. Broke a long run and got tackled from behind obviously the guy had an angle on him as there's not many that would catch Bo from behind, if anyone. Maybe Green but anyway, I remember him talking like he'd be back next week and walking off the field after the game. That hip joint!! I remember his sneaks and all the commercials. I had his poster on my wall where he's wearing shoulder pads with a bat across his shoulders behind his neck. And he was such a humble respectful guy as well. An athlete that would have been great in any era in both sports IMO. I love watching the younger generation watch his highlights in amazement. We got to see it while it was happening

Best athlete to ever play the game. And great player with great numbers. Plus he chose baseball when nfl offered him 6x the money. Just my opinion.

In addition, his minor league career was ridiculously short. He was hitting major league pitching basically as a raw talent that played half the season. When he was at his peak, he could hit the fastball. It was the curveball that gave him trouble. It’s not unreasonable to assume that that extra time in the minor leagues he could’ve become more disciplined at the plate.
He was the only guy in my 50 years of watching pro sports that made the dimensions of a baseball diamond look smaller than everybody else.

The things these talented young men and women dealt with in the time when college sports was becoming national and monetized was deplorable. The multibillion-dollar industry that feeds on their talent and hard work has finally had to pay the piper for the decades of exploitation.

Even as a Phillies fan, I've always appreciated the 90s Braves teams because even as a kid I recognized the greatness in their pitching rotation with Smoltz, Maddox and Glavine. So when the Phillies beat them in the 93' NLCS it made it that much more special. I was 9 years old and remember going into that series just grateful the Phillies had made it that far but no way they'd beat the Braves... But they did and it was incredible. Funny enough, the Phillies ownership of the Braves during the Postseason, is still alive and well 😆

The greatest thing about Bo Jackson is not just the lore. There is talk about Bo’s speed. His explosiveness. His strength. Just everything about Bo that sounds utterly ridiculous to all of us mere mortals. No way he ran a 4.13 40 time.
And then there are the people who played with and against him. While the rest of us armchairs said such stuff was impossible?
Those people in football and baseball and track and field will talk about Bo and say that everything they say about Bo is not only 100% true but that the stories are moderated in order to maintain some believability. It wasn’t just those of us who witnessed him do it (I got to see him play in person against the Bengals run for a TD of over 90 yards against the Bengals. From those cheap seats at the Coliseum it was clear that he was the biggest and the fastest and the baddest) who were awed.
It was the elite pros who said that we mere mortals have no idea just how fast and big and strong he was.

Multiple primes of Barry Bonds video when, or The Beginning of the End of Baseball as we knew it, featuring Adam Dunn, the first/most prolific three true outcome player. (Obviously you could argue other people, but considering he ended up with a career average of .237, its pretty bad. It really felt like he set the stage for everyone else that followed, aka mark reynolds, dan uggla, and any other players who can't hit for average, strike out a ton, mash 20-40 homeruns a year and walk a semi moderate amount each season.)
I do enjoy that you look at other players than simply the creme de la creme of MLB history.
