    Great video with great information. We have a Suburban in our rig it was a factory install on the Alpine 3850RD and we love it. There have been some issues but all in all much better than having to deal with a tank again. Glad to see the RV Industry is starting to come into the current century. Seeing your descaling process made me think about needing to crack open the owners manual though. Our system doesn't have a door like yours, it's a cover that is caulked. Always my go to channel when I want to learn how to fix or maintain something. Thanks for sharing.

    I wonder what did wrong with my Girard, we don't have temperature fluctuations or problems with mixing. I got rid of the bypass because winterizing is not necessary got rid of the unnecessary loops and hoops they put in RV plumbing and run a constant 55 psi water pressure if possible. The only problem we had was having hot water for washing cloths as they time to have hot water was not instant just constant so i added a small point of use electric water heater to fix that issue to the washer. Even if I wanted a Truma it would never happen because of cost and that you can only have a trusted RV tech install it and I have not met a trusted RV tech that I will let work on my rig. This is my home and only I understand the importance of not messing anything up

    Hi I wanted to know your opinion still, because I ordered the suburban IW60 based on your review and your statements that it was an excellent unit without problems away from the obvious cold water spurt if ya shut it off to save water. It is way more reasonable priced than this Truma unit. You stated IW60 worked in higher altitudes and colder weather so can you please tell me what made you switch it out and did Truma offer you something to switch? Thank ya for your time n help. :-)

    Well, I've watched all four of your 'tankless' videos, Jared. Two thoughts: You repeatedly refer to the Girard unit as having the 'problem' of not being able to mix cold with hot water. Boy, that just stumps me. I set my shower temp for 104F (Patricia's is 106F), use the hot water valve exclusively, and I'm always enjoying 'just the right temp' of shower water. Just don't understand how that is a problem. The second thought is that I'd welcome you to give us a follow-up in 3 or 4 years. The Truma system always gets rave reviews when its new...but it's a sophisticated, complicated system that requires specialty support. That combination often produces difficult to address problems over time.

      Hi Jack, fully understand your concerns with technology. Jared didn’t mention much about Truma, however our systems are developed and produced in Germany, just outside of Munich. Like most European products, our systems are built to last.
      We actually have been selling the AquaGo in North America for over 6 years and we are in touch with those customers who have had units over this time. With regular maintenance of the heating system it should last as long as your RV.

    Just for your info you can tell how much propane a gas appliance uses. Take the BTU rating on the data plate and divide that by 91,500 equals how much propane it will use per hour. Example if the water heater is 40,000 Btu’s 91500 divided by 40000 =2.28 gallons per hour. The other point to know is like a furnace that time is only when the burner is on. Typical furnace or standard gas water heater is about 1/3 the time the burner is on. 30 years in the propane business teaches me this.Thanks for the good information on all your videos.

    • @markhowlett1334
      @markhowlett1334 3 роки тому +2

      Hi Dave, great example of how to calculate maximum propane use. The Truma AquaGo has a max of 60,000 BTU output, and it can modulate down to 20,000 BTU to match the flow and in coming water temperatures. Propane use will therefore be influenced by where you are and incoming water temperatures and how you use the system.
      As Jared showed, leaving the unit in Eco will consume zero propane unless there is a demand for water or the ambient temperature drops below 40°F (5°C) - the unit will turn itself on at that point to generate hot water and protect the system from freezing.

    • @ginnawitters-evans5156
      @ginnawitters-evans5156 2 роки тому +1

      Thank you Dave for the information great to know for all consumers :-)
      Just FYI for consumers why does Truma think it matters to have an Eco mode when any good RV on demand unit Does NOT operate until demand is needed unless freezing temperatures are detected. They have electronic ignition so no flame is even running continuously.

    Someone else commented that this video is right to the point? Right to the point? Wouldn't the place to start be the price of the darn thing? How much does it cost? I watched as much of the video as I could. And then before posting this somewhat negative comment I thought I should check the end of the video. Cleaning it out is covered. How great it is is covered again and again. How much propane he goes though in a month is covered. How great it is is covered again and again. How much does it cost? lol I just tried googling this hot water heater and the manufacturer will tell me the price IF I submit a form or call them on the phone. I don't begrudge anybody earning a living but when you have to jump through hoops just to learn the price of something, it's usually insanely expensive and almost always garbage. Just my opinion. I'd be willing to bet the kickback (apologies if that's that's not the proper term) for pitching the heater on youtube is substantial.

    Plus which one can operate at the lowest outside temperatures since there a stupid design to have them exposed to temps no insulation whatsoever for those wanting to extend their season no all of us can afford to stay at RV parks as often as it appears you do$$$

    No way am I paying $1200 for somebody to put a water heater in my RV.
    What’s the point of having an RV if you can’t do it yourself.

      He says $1200-1600, not $2200. But it's still about 2.5-3 times the cost of the others. If we're going to do math, let's do math.

    ANOTHER brilliant video Jared. Thank you.
    I've seen your other water heater videos and am in a unique situation. I am full-time, but stationary. I currently have an on-demand tankless system but am tired of the cycling when I try to adjust temperature in the shower - freeze or scald - neither good choices. And I have shore-power. So I was thinking of putting in a larger, 20 gallon electric tank but leaving the existing gas, on-demand system in case I go mobile.
    But you sure make this model look like it 'does it all'...
    My toyhauler layout means it's 18 seconds for the water to get warm once I turn off (or try the shower-miser switch) and I truck in my water - so I have to be almost as stingy with it - as boondocking.
    Thanks for your professional assessments with personal anecdotes; a good combination.

    So far we have been fortunate with our 10 gallon water heater. If I turn the propane on along with the electric water heater ( I have the option for both), I can take a 20 minute shower easily. Of course that means we have full hook ups. We have the 2 Thurman generators you reviewed before but have not had to use them yet. We got them due to the rolling blackouts here in California but they will come in handy in the future while dry camping/boon docking. After all of that, I would take a shorter shower. LOL. Thanks again!

    We love ours , we have the same model you have . I also made bug screens that fit the air intake and exhaust so bugs won’t stop it up . I couldn’t find anything easy made that would fit it . I ended up buying a screen that fits a RV refrigerator and cutting it down to fit .

    How can a tiny little pre heat tank affect a relatively huge volume of water? That volume of water would be gone in no time.

    Would love to switch mine out but I'm waiting for someone to install a new water diverter panel right now. I'm hoping the new panel repairs the pressure issues im having and in turn makes my current on demand system work better. Trying to find a plumber for the job- since many experiences with rv repair guys has been less than satisfactory.😕very frustrating.

    Personally, I'm not a fan of any of the tankless models. Every single time a traveling RVer calls me for repair and says they have a tankless, I have to tell them there's only a 10% chance I can do an on site repair. Tank models, no problem. They'll have hot water in a jiffy.

    Is the water instant hot because it keeps circulating the water to maintain a temp till you demand it or is the water in the pipes cold and you have to wait till all the water comes out to start feeling the warm water?
