I love the hymns being sung by the choristers in this ceremony. For years, the British anglican choir has always been the best in the world

The tenure of Coggan came too late. He was a bishop of long standing and was the favourite of Geoffrey Fisher to succeed him in 1961. However Fisher’s officious manner, which had worsened as he got older, did not endear him to Harold Macmillan and the obvious candidate - Ramsey of York - was appointed to Canterbury. Coggan accepted York, and served as that province’s Archbishop effectively enough. He was essentially a conservative Evangelical who broadened, whereas Ramsey was a liberal Anglo-Catholic who made no secret of his Liberal political affiliation. The two men did not always agree, but they allowed a creative friction to exist and worked out of it. When Coggan was appointed to Canterbury he was already of retirement age, and instead of trying to develop a strategy for Canterbury he tended to recycle projects and policies he had used in York during the 60s. He was also prone to act without consultation with his fellow bishops, and his lack of understanding of the difficulties pertaining to intercommunion contributed to the failure of ARCIC, the talks between Anglicans and Roman Catholics which had proven fruitful under Michael Ramsey. Yet he was a distinguished Biblical scholar and did much to advance study of the Scriptures, as well as emphasising the need for honest and expository preaching. The problem is that whereas Ramsey was the first modern Archbishop of Canterbury (as Paul VI was the first modern Pope) Coggan was the last old-fashioned holder of the office.

Interesting read. I find the modern history of the traditional churches fascinating. It's amazing how the ceremony of the traditional churches when it comes to enthronement has changed little whilst the weekly services / Masses etc definitely have.

With women's entry into anglican clerical orders, and as a catholic, the effective end of the Anglican Church as a Christian institution and the annihilation of any hope of Christian unity was lamented by the late Pope John Paul two. Very sad. Many Anglican parishs are to some degree pagan and to some degree atheist. This is a recent, long lasting and tragic development for all concerned.

The RCC is neither Roman (Rome is now a secular city with the Pope sequestered into his Vatican enclave) nor Catholic (having abandoned the Apostolic Tradition) nor is it a true Church (rather, it is a large neo-pagan cult).

You should learn more history, and less propaganda. In addition, even you would have to acknowledge the Christ who loves everyone. Lastly, you clearly have hatred for anyone who isn’t a member of your denomination. Thankfully, the Roman Catholic Church has long moved on from such awful sectarianism such as yours.

      Who is "they"? Henry VIII?
The idea that a bunch of "Anglicans" stole these buildings and that they should be blamed for robbing the Catholic Church of its cultural and architectural riches is absurd; there was no such thing as an Anglican at the time.
In most cases the governments of the countries that would later become Protestant adopted Luther or Calvin's teachings for their own personal/political reasons and then made people follow the Protestant faith whether they wanted to or not.
England is the ultimate example of this since in its case all of its distinctive doctrine developed after the split. Henry VIII would have loved to remain Catholic if he'd been allowed to get his divorce. Not saying he was justified, but that's a fact.
It's just as pointless as complaining about the destuction of the monestaries. Everyone is sad about this, it's a cultural treasure we never recovered, but Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell were to blame for that, not "Anglicans".
It's as silly to blame them for inheriting these buildings as it is to blame Catholics for stealing the Pantheon from Pagan Ancient Rome
