- Speaking in a short film produced by Lambeth Palace, the Archbishop of Canterbury talks about the sense of hopefulness and generosity which lie at the heart of marriage, and what this also tells us about the 'mystery' and 'delight' which can be found in this life-time commitment. Dr Williams, who will be conducting the marriage ceremony at Westminster Abbey on Friday 29th, also describes the sense of privilege he feels about his own role in the royal wedding.

Amazing speach. It is not often anymore that we hear such kind hearted and non-judgemental words spoken by a true gentalman and scholar.
The Archbishop is right. Marriage is a life time commitment learning about someone. Too many people today take it lightly.

This man is a true intellectual. I really enjoy listening to his take on marriage and how valuable and bonding the ceremony can be. If there were more people with a similar mindset who could inspire and speak as he does our world would be a much more practical place.
What he says is very meaningful. It would be great if many more people would take his words to heart to make their own marriages better and more meaningful. I also love the fact that he refers to marriage as generosity. Beautifully said.

This is why I don't understand hypocrits who say " well theres always tommorrow" or that it's "just fish in the sea". We need more people like this!

Indeed he is a man of God, his words are warm and filled with love, wisdom and understanding.
Beautiful and so true and sad too, because so very many go into marriage on a whim, blinded by a superficial attraction that they believe is the real thing only to end up at the divorce courts, often with tearful little children who simply don't understand why Mama and Daddy can't be together with them any more. The Royal Couple do seem unusually mature and not at all starry-eyed. Let''s hope they have a life-long joyous union that nothing can destroy!

How succinct is this? How many people have labored over "defining weddings and marriages, and this fellow reams it off with realism, logic, and simplicity. What critique is there to be had? This man spoke from his religious convictions. And yes it is true that many look to royals on how persons should live their lives. Everyone does not have to use royals are role models but what is the beef with his statements?
