Definitely wasn’t expecting it but I trust Berry. Great size and very physical Greedy will want to start in my opinion so I think he’s gone after this year. If not before.
I think he is going to be a hybrid role replacing MJ Stewart, and potentially John Johnson. Could see him more in a safety role. I know we traded Hill but I do not see him directly replacing him. AJ Green could fill the role!
6 Months later its safe to say this dude has improved a ton from his college days. He is not super quick as you mentioned but he has clearly gotten quicker in the NFL and as a result can keep up with good NFL receivers. Emerson is also been shown to be a much more high IQ player then he was in college not getting flagged nearly as often and even last game (10/31 Browns vs Bengals) purposely holding tee higgns to prevent a touchdown. One thing you mentioned is how physical this dude. It's like watching a bully play corner with how aggressive he plays yet he manages to somehow restrains it and as a result he doesn't get flagged as much as some of these types of corners do. I think you made the correct analysis on the player but its clear the CB coaching staff has helped massively improved his game in a remarkably short amount of time. You are right in saying though he can't compete with speed demons like tyreek hill due to his lack of foot speed but we have corners that are suppose to handle quick receivers. You are however 100% right in saying we could have gotten him later in the draft. But in the end the team decided they needed another corner now who could actually be super physical. I can't blame them as receivers like Tyler Boyd who normally kills us looked lost against him. Your grade (6 months ago) C+ My grade 6 months later A- I think overall they could have gotten a better player at a more needy position but its clear this dude will be a starter for years to come. He has been a surprise and is a major upgrade compared to greedy at corner. He isn't even the best corner would could have take either as tariq woolen is better. For what it's worth we could have done a lot worse as some first round picks have not been as impactful as him (looking at your Devonte Wyatt)
I love this guy for shutting down big WRs and even the pass happy TE teams. I trust the AB lead Browns have a plan behind what they are doing. Whether it works out or not ultimately remains to be seen, but it’s seemed like they’ve been doing a good enough job lately to earn the benefit of the doubt.
Considering he’s most likely replacing Troy Hill, I actually like this move. I think being in a room with Ward and newsome will be great for him so he can get more technically sound
He may rotate in at safety. He'll probably also get work in zone coverages and in the red zone. His speed is much less of an issue if that's how they end up playing him.
To be fair, nobody should be asked to cover Jameson Williams 1v1 without safety over the top. That's a coaching issue. I think he's an interesting developmental prospect due to his height and length. A year with NFL coaching to polish his technique will also do him wonders. I see him as cb4 as a rookie with a chance to be cb2 on 3 wr passing sets if Greedy Williams is hurt, with Newsome playing the slot. The team already did this last year.
Isn't really not even a bad idea to draft for SEC they put out some ballers for sure we also should have look at his other teammates maybe there was a sleeper players there on D-line
Our number one need was a big fat nose tackle. We passed on Travis Jones who then went to the Ravens to take a broken ankle corner. Maybe they think he is Richard Sherman or Marlon Humphrey who holds on every single play.
Winfrey and York were the only good picks that the Browns made. They should've kept they're second round pick and took one of the better receivers that were still available then.
None of those receivers you talk about would be better than Peoples-Jones. And they needed a slot receiver to replace Landry. They got him in Bell. And he will challenge Swartz. Then they picked up a 4th round. I get it. We as fans aren't gonna be happy with every pick and trade. #Go Dawgs!

Emerson is obviously going to start out at CB. But I project that he will ultimately be John Johnsons replacement at safety, when we are over the cap next year and need to cut Johnsons 10 mill
He won't be able to body up receivers past five yards in the NFL. He's also slow. DT Travis Jones, a better player at a bigger position of need, was sitting there to be had. Don't like the pick.

Yeah I’m with you. Don’t think he can play slot in the NFL.
AJ green and Emerson. We have quality depth
They will call that 14 yard bump and run in the league but he will be just fine. Really like the room.
