- Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is finally here and with it we have to adjust our Monsterverse Timeline just a bit to accommodate the new film and its incredible novelization by Greg Keyes. The novelization has loads of new lore to explore that the GxK film barely touches on. It also hints at the next movie in the Monsterverse, and what Monarch and the Titans will likely face next. One reviewer summed it up really well. Godzilla has become end of story arc Goku. He shows up and you know whoever he’s facing is going to get stomped.

AND his story arc in this movie is very close to that of Kratos and Atreus.

@@GeekritiqueThat’s not what it said, it said the same type of ice was seen when ghidorah was frozen.
Yes, then it later says that that type of ice was a direct result of “The Hypothetical,” or Shimo as they learn her name is. Later still, it confirms bluntly by the end that Ghidorah’s freezing was a result of Shimo.

They confirm it in the novelization. We know the base layer of each ice age occurred instantaneously, thanks to the Prologue, and its heavily implied that the monster that did that was also responsible for a site in Antarctica. It’s heavily implied by Serizawa that they were referring to Ghidorah in the ice.
Chapter 13 later confirms the monster that triggered each ice age base layer, like the site in Antarctica, was Shimo. This is later confirmed by the Director of Monarch to be true in Chapter 19.
At some point later, I forget which chapter at this point, they reiterate that Ghidorah was frozen by Shimo.
I listened the book twice, I’m positive about this.
Hollow earth threat when the last 2 movies were basically centered around Kong and the hollow earth. If you look at what the director said, he points to Zilla being the next story arc. And he seems to be the surface King!
I'm convinced the next antagonist will be a member of Godzilla species. Not saying that's going to be Space Godzilla, but it will be a Godzilla. Nothing else can challenge G at this point.
Edit: Apparently Toho doesn't want Godzilla to be a species. So my prediction is updated to be a Godzilla similar antagonist.
That could be pretty cool. I mean. There are a lot of things that could beat Godzilla though. Mechagodzilla almost took G out. And Shimo could definitely take G. But situationally, with his ally’s, he does need a new threat. You may be onto something.
@@Geekritique I agree more or less. Not entirely sure about Shimo but I don't have any data to really argue my point so my thoughts on that fight are moot. But even if not a true Godzilla, Mecha was based on Godzilla and Shimo is Godzilla-ish so my point kind of stands 😛 But also I think it works thematically. Godzilla having to choose between humanity and others of his species. All conjecture and almost all of my predictions for GxK were wrong so I could be completely off base again.
I can see that but I'm really hoping we can see Gigan, Biollante, Titanosaurus, SpaceGoji, Hedorah, (Destoroyah is for last period) in the future. Hopefully.

With how op shimo is now thanks to the GXK Novel making her the strongest monsterverse titan and her ice powers if destoroyah ever comes to the monsterverse as the final boss i want her to be the first titan to face off against destoroyah and lose horribly against him to showcase how dangerous and powerful destoroyah is
That could be an interesting way to introduce that threat.
Hot take, Shimos powers obliterate destroyah, obviously they will 100% make destroyah OP but if were going strictly off the heisei destroyah and the current shimu, shimu wins by a landslide
@@ChonkiezYou spelt shimo wrong its not shimu the last two times its shimo and despite having one of destoroyahs weaknesses as her main weapon Heisei Destoroyah would absolutely destroy her easily He took on Heisei Burning Godzilla the most powerful live action incrantion of godzilla to ever exist and would have won if not for godzilla going into meltdown and the jsdf and U.N.G.C.C using cryo lazers to finish off destoroyah after he was very injured from fighting Heisei Burning Godzilla BY HIMSELF

Nah destroyah has regenerative powers, if a fully amped up godzilla can barley put a dent on shimo then i dont think destroyah can either, remember ice was super super effective against destroyah thats the only reason why i think right off the rip, if shimo blasts destroyah i think the odds are very very slim
Burning godzilla was absorbing powers from Rodan, The most recent godzilla absorbed a nuke and a titan, so i would consider the purple godzilla slightly stronger because he def knows he wasnt dying from the get go, But Nuclear godzilla (kotm) > pink godzilla

Ancient Timeline theory. You can correct me if I’m wrong. This is what I got from reading the novel
250 Million Years Ago: Dagon and other members of the Gojira tribe would survive the Permian extinction by feeding on the planet’s radiation.
55 Million Years Ago: The Great Apes would evolve in the Hollow Earth to become the Dominate Species
6 Million Years Ago: The Iwi would worship the Great Apes and other titans as Gods.
3 Million Years Ago: Shimo is born and would claim Antartica as her territory
2 Million Years Ago: Godzilla is born
2.2 Million Years Ago: An adolescent Godzilla would be driven out of his territory by an ancient Kong known simply as The Rival
2.1 Million years ago: Godzilla and Shimo would fight for dominance and as a result, an Ice Age is created
1 Million Years Ago: The Ancient war between the Gojira and Great Apes would begin. The War would end with Godzilla banishing Skar King and his followers into the Hollow Earth
1.? Million Years Ago: A Group of apes attempt to flee from Skar King and take Skull Island as residence. When Skar King found out they escaped, he sent in the Skull Crawlers to kill them and so begins the battle between the Kongs and Skullcrawlers
300,000 Years Ago: An Ancient Civilization would be built and worship Godzilla. This civilization would be the precursor and progenitor to cities like Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Sumer.
200,000 Million Years Ago: King Ghidorah would arrive on Earth and cause havoc. He would kill
Anguirus and other members of Godzilla’s species. Maybe even his aging parents. Godzilla would fight Ghidorah for centuries along side Rodan and Mothra.
100,000 Years Ago: Ghidorah’s reign of terror would end when Godzilla and Shimo would team up to freeze him in ice, not only turning Antartica into a frozen wasteland, but causing the last ice age to begin. Due to the last Ice Age, many titans went into into hibernation. Shimo would go to the Hollow Earth to hibernate only to be captured by the Skar King.
The surviving members of the first civilization would create various ancient civilizations.
1500-300 BC: Dagon would be worshiped by the Phoenicians only to be killed by MUTO Prime. Leaving Godzilla as the last of his kind.
16th Century: The Iwi would arrive on Skull Island and be protected by Kong’s parents
17th Century: Kong’s Parents would engage in a final battle with the Skullcrawlers. They would die and a grieving infant Kong would be born in the aftermath.
The Rest is History

There's something bugging me about that "Wednesday August 30th" date on the film. You mention that it could be a prop from when it was filmed, but there's no such date in 2022 (when they shot the film between July and November). It could be a reshoot! Which must've been in 2023, which does have a Wednesday August 30th, but that was in the middle of the WGA strike where they couldn't have shot it. So, I think it must be an intentional date then? It's really noticeable on screen.
Having settled that GvK does happen in Fall (October?) 2024 and GxK is a few years later in late August, could it be 2028 instead of 2027? 2028 does have a Wednesday August 30th!
About Jia, if she was about 10 in Fall 2024, could she be 13 about to turn 14 in August 2028? I think it fits!
(Also, although not really a clue, the time elapsed between the production of Gvk and GxK was about four years as well)

I have a theory about the civilization seen in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and how it might connect to the Iwi.
300,000+ Years Ago, there was once an ancient and powerful civilization as old if not older than mankind itself. We will refer to them as *The Forefathers*
These Legendary Forefathers’ culture was all about worshiping the titans as gods. As they travel the world, they would encounter and worship various titans. They would build monuments and temples for the titans to worship them. These early humans would venture into the Hollow Earth where they would evolve into the Iwi, becoming its own independent civilization. While the Iwis evolved to have telepathic powers, the Forefathers used these special Magatamas formed from Hollow Earth crystals which helped them telepathically communicate to the titans. The same crystal by the Iwi that was used to send a distress call to Godzilla. Emma Russel used these Magatamas as a basis in creating by the Orca. But the Forefathers got power hungry, so they sent their controlled titans into battle against each other. This led to a civil war between the humans and titans. The titans obliviously won, it lead to half of the civilization destroyed in the process and the connection between man and monster to shatter. For a time, there was relative peace until Ghidorah came and shattered the peace completely. The Capital city of the forefathers would be destroyed in the process and completely sunken underwater. The survivors would spread across the globe and form the various civilizations in the real world, retelling the story of their ancestor’s downfall in the various flood myths. The fall of the forefathers also inspired Plato in creating the myth of Atlantis.
The moment the governments try to colonize the Hollow Earth, they're gonna start a second Titan War, this time with Godzilla and Kong leading the charge.

Yeah all the novels are Canon to the story, the whole main idea of the novels is adding context in between things that weren't fully said or not said at all in the movies. They add context to the origins of the monsters.
@Somesom33 They’re also based on the original scripts, so most of the conversations that occur throughout the books that don’t show up in the movies were originally intended to.

It’s called a Tree Mimic in the book, and apparently there are many varieties of Tree Mimics. This one mimicked a dead stump.
hey geekritique i would like to ask you something about the mcu timeline you sayd that everything is canon but 1 show is missing and thats Helstrom Roxxon Corporation is everywhere in the mcu in some of them and so is the sokovia accords later on in the mcu the one thing you missed in Helstrom is that on a tablet they where watching showed the Sokovia Accords so that would mean that Helstrom is MCU Canon too because we must not Forget that robbie's Ghost Rider in Agents of SHIELD was supposed to make a crossover with Helstrom in the mcu franchise called adventure into fear before it was cancelled that should also make a connection to the mcu as well just like a team of heroes like the defenders franchise in the same way if you think about it it does make alot of logical sense for that reason and also since where talking about the timeline of the mcu once Deadpool & Wolverine aka Deadpool 3 releases does that mean you will finally make an X-men timeline including the other fox films like fantastic four, daredevil, elektra to have them also be aded to the mcu timeline as branched universes timelines just like Sam Raimi's Spider-man, The Amazing Spider-man, Venom the Spider-verse with miles morales into one big universe timeline for the MCU.

While it's true that Helstrom was originally _intended_ to be MCU (& it is still fully _compatible_ with the rest of the franchise), when it came out, the showrunner explicitly stated in an interview that it _isn't_ MCU. Clearly a decision was made between filming & release to remove it, & it is to date the *only* show with an official decanonization announcement.

After seeing Legacy of Monarch, now I understand how Skar King is still alive all this time, considering that the apes can't live millions of years.
Skar King’s age is still curious. They never actually enter the Hollow Earth in Legacy of Monsters, but the in-between realm, the Axis Mundi. Only there is there evidence of extreme time dilation.
Also, there’s no evidence the war between Godzilla and the Great Apes was millions of years. But it is definitely many thousands at least.
Need to bring an all out war of monsters. Zilla n Kong. Vs all. Bring on Gamera to help out as the 3 battle space godzilla n destroyer

The reason I think you should exclude Blue Beetle, is because of these two quotes from James Gunn, "I mean the first DCU character for sure is Blue Beetle and the first full DCU movie is Superman" also the quote from January 31, 2023, "Then to move into Blue Beetle a fantastic film about a kid who's a marvelous part of the DCU." When Superman Legacy comes out next year on July 11, 2025 you can do another timeline, but add Blue Beetle to that video.

So there is but I believe it was from a cut scene from Godzilla vs Kong with the original interpretation of how the Titan war happened. But something changed between when they filmed the scene to when they did reshoots for Godzilla Vs Kong. Honestly I think one of 2 things went down during the reshoots for GVK either 1. They explained the whole war in GVK via murals and when Wingard reedited the film and did the reshoots he changed his mind about adding it just in case they wanted to use it later. Or 2. Wingard got the idea for Skarking during the reshoots of GVK and decided to cut the scene in case he got a chance to make a sequel the story would revolve around the Titan war and Skarking which fits really well because Wingard really did do a lot of re-writing and re-shoots of GVK but GXK had no re-writes or re-shoots that we know of which indicates that Wingard knew exactly where and what he wanted to do with the sequel.

@the_only_lonely Either. We only know Shimo’s first appearance in the fossil/glacial record is 3 million years ago. We don’t know Godzilla’s age. From the now non-canonical Godzilla: Awakening, Eiji Serizawa posits that Godzilla might be 250m+ years old, but there’s no proof of that beyond a scientific guesstimate.
@@Geekritique i just googled "Despite the continuity discrepancies between Godzilla: Awakening and the film, Legendary still considers it canon to the Monsterverse, as revealed at its "Secrets of the Monsterverse" panels."
The issue is it cannot exist within the same continuity as Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. They’re two very different stories that contradict many times. They’re gonna keep calling it canon, because they want to keep selling it and packaging it into their omnibuses. And the comic itself doesn’t confirm that Godzilla is that old anyway. Eiji just guesses he might be.

The book explains he wants to stay there for a little while longer, but he knows it’s probably temporary. And yeah, the gov are definitely gonna be a nuisance moving forward.
