You would think the "only the first killer counts as the blackened" rule means that people would want to be the second to murder. So like in this 3rd trial, Female Culprit is like "sweet I see a poisoning is about to happen" and goes ahead with the more disturbing plan because they can get away with it! But alas time was not on their side.

The whole purpose of that rule though is to defeat the existence of the participants wanting to be co-killers because you can't be accomplices and both run away together. The motive/goal behind most of the murders is that the killer wants to escape and survive the killing game. If you're unrelated to the first killers plan and can't escape and survive as well, then killing someone doesn't hold any benefit for you because not only are your hopes for escape dashed, but now everyone else in the death game hates you and won't ever trust you again, which paints a huge target on your back once the trial's over. The only reason that anyone would want to willingly be a seperate second blackened in this case is if they're unrealistically batshit insane and just want to kill someone for funsies without any motive to their crime whatsoever.

@@jackofhearts5542 that's true, but I think the only plausible reason someone might kill after a death has already happened (so knowing that they're not going to get out) is with a revenge killing. I'm going to explore that in my fangan (written, unless I can find an artist tbh) wherein the second culprit walks in on the first victim being killed and decides to kill the first culprit in a fit of rage and revenge. I think that, and the one the video shows with someone poisoning someone before the first death, make sense. If it's two killers and they don't know about each other's murder plans, it can easily occur. It's honestly a shame that they did the 'crazy guy likes killing people' thing with Kork bc at least Celeste and Mikan's motivation for two deaths is getting rid of key witnesses

@@sighofdismae Yeah, it works in this case here because the second culprit wasn't aware of the first murder until he already committed his, which makes sense. I think your idea seems interesting and plausible as well, especially since it sounds like the culprit probably only wanted to kill that one person for revenge and thus, not want to get all of their other classmates killed for winning the trial and not having/wanting to risk their own life as well. I think the original comment just confused me because they were saying why would most killers not want to take advantage of the rule knowingly where the only advantage of that rule would be in very situational circumstances like the ones you highlighted, so you're good lol. Anyways, your idea seems great and interesting and I wish you luck on your fangan! If you want it written, that's cool, written fangans are dope! However, if you need artists, a lot of fangans post on sites like youtube, reddit, twitter, casting call club, etc. a little information about their fangan and what exactly they're looking for (artists, writers, va's, editors, etc.) and there's many people out there willing to help! I'm an artist and would offer to make some art for your fangan but I don't have a lot of practice drawing in the danganronpa artstyle and my own fangan is going to be drawn in my own personal style with a few danganronpa style influences, like Lapse and Deception Examination have done, if you've seen those.

The only thing that annoyed me is when you (as many other people) said that a killer surviving the trial and people having to live with them would be original, as it has been done to death in the canon games. I'm actually curious about how this will end.

I'm pretty sure every culprit was executed after the trial. So, yes, this is pretty original

The main examples are Komaeda and Ouma, who survived after causing a murder, creating a lot of tension.
Then we also have Harukawa and Toukou (who were outed as remorseless serial killers and survived), Kuzuryuu (who intentionally helped a killer and tried to kill everyone), Hagakure and Asahina (after chapter 4).
Technically none of them were the killers during their trials, but the impact most of them left was just the same, especially for the first 2 examples.

True, they did have vital roles in the murder/investigation/trial but they were never the actual killers in the killing game so the impact and morality is not necessarily the same. The only ones that come close to reaching that impact, and therefore valid examples, are Nagito and Kokichi because they may as well have been murderers, but the others aren't valid examples. Maki and Genocide Jill never killed anyone the rest of the cast know personally. Fuyuhiko and Hina were more sympathetic because the one closest to them died, so whatever they did was more fueled by emotion than actual malicious intent. Hiro and Toko were spooked. They all have their reasons for the cast to sympathize, or at least pity them, more than panic about what to do with them. So I don't think two examples, which are not exactly the same, counts as "done to death".

@@awildnoviceappears We'll have to agree to disagree on Ouma and Komaeda. I think the impact was exactly the same, and that's already 2 out of the 3 main games. I'd say Harukawa counts too because she was portrayed as a threat. I'll admit Toukou/Syo, Hagakure and Asahina were never taken seriously, and I wouldn't discard Kuzuryuu, who at least had Saionji blaming him.
Regardless of the impact, all of them are still basically killers who survived in my opinion. If we count the impact (you implied the survivors need to personally blame the character for it to count) then Togami should also count for trashing Fujisaki's body and framing 2 innocent people for fun.
Even if it happens again in a fangan, there's no way of knowing how it'll be done. I just hope it's done in a more creative way.
