I am Santee Sioux a Dakota Indian grew up in reservation we make fry bread.I give you the recipe we use, please try it! 3 cups of flour. 2 tablespoons of baking powder 1 table spoon of powder milk or whole milk. 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix in 2 cups of warm water and mix. You enjoy this much better I promise. Fry it in oil and top with honey powdered sugar or butter jam or make a taco on it!
Sounds great! I will have to try this out for sure. Does this fry bread have a special name? If I do it in a video I want to call it by the proper name. Cheers!
Lovely part 2. Your Bannock certainly looked good. A suggestion if I may.....it is easy to fabricate an oven with your Trangia kit, be it a 25, 27 or 28. Simply invert one of the pans and drop it over whatever you are cooking. It contains the heat very well but use gloves to handle it 😁. As always, thank you for sharing your camp and taking the time to make videos. Stay well, stay safe....Helen, Kat, Terri & Robyn.
Nice spot to hang out. That deeper frying pan looks pretty handy, all right. Grandma used to say it all turns into bread in the oven, but some of my early biscuits were better as door stops.
Dont feel bad, Red! I can never get bannock right without baking it. I'd rather make Irish pan bread, anyways. They're a lot like a small baked biscuit
The last time I did it the Bannock turned out better in form and looks and hopefully it will better the nest time. I would like to think that I'm learning from my mistakes. Cheers Wayne!

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it out next time I'm baking outdoors! Cheers guys!

I have to confess that I've made one or two blackened door stops in the pursuit of bread. Cheers!
Good morning, that bannock looked delicious. 👍
I will definetely be doing it again.
Nice and relaxing video Red! Always interesting how fellow hikers get along with cooking and gear. Grtz, Henk.
Thanks for watching Henk. Cheers!
I have made bannock before, very nice if you put raisins in it 😊
Thanks for the tip!

I'll have to check this out. Thanks for the tip Chad, Cheers!
Looks delicious with the addition of lemon curd! Always a challenge to control to hot spot. At what point did you decide to remove the simmer ring?
If memory serves me right I had the simmer ring off for a minute or two to get the heat up and then kept it on until it was done.
look at that, how beautiful this plate is! where can I buy one? and what size is it
The plate is a 19 cm, titanium Snow Peak. Here you can find it in outdoor stores and I guess it's easy enough to find it online. Cheers!
Very nice video! What table were you using?
It's a camping table from Asivik, and supposed to be good for loads up to 15 kg. Cheers!
