If I ever get to grill out on a blackstone griddle with that deck view, my life will be complete.
100% Agree
I was obsessed about getting a blackstone and now i want my money back. I did everything it said to do, seasoning and so forth and had a good summer with it. I cleaned, oiled, and stored it inside. I just got it out today and its an absolute pile of unusable rust. Just a garbage piece of equipment. Not only did they get me for several hundred dollars but got me for another 20 for their resurfacing kit that doesn't work. Save your money folks. He is dead on about the flimsiness too. Going back to a traditional grill.
Sorry to hear about your experience Henry. We appreciate you sharing your thoughts and concerns with us.
This makes sense you all ! I bought two new griddles. This guy knows what he is talking about ! And to Blackstone……..YOU CAN DO BETTER !!!!!!! QUALITY OVER QUANTITY !. Thank you !
Thank you James. We want Blackstone to do better as well. 👍🏻👊🏻
I am definitely buying one, the 22” is the one I’ve been eyeballing. Thats great information guys👍🏻 it’s nice knowing someone who has tried multiple grills

Awesome review, I'm looking at buying one of these next week and this was pretty helpful.
Awesome!! Enjoy your new Blackstone! 👍🏻👊🏻
It’s the best purchase I’ve ever made and my family loves the food I cook. Also my grandmother loves keeping the mess of cooking outside
Awesome! Blackstone has changed the way we cook and we love it too! Thanks so much for watching!
Well done on the review guys.

Hey Doug and Jamie, that cooking portion of the griddle looks amazing, just like your deck and view! Have a rockin weekend! Good to know the problems with the griddle, and where some improvements can be made.
Nothing is perfect, as you know, but Jamie’s cooking on the Blackstone makes up for any deficiencies . Appreciate you watching Brother! You have a great weekend! 👍🏻👊🏻🍻
@@PinetreeLine so true! Jamie is a pro on that griddle! Have an awesome weekend! Looks like we will be getting soaked HA!

Thanks so much Nick! Appreciate you watching!! 👍🏻
Great info Jamie!🍻
Thanks for watching Marc! Appreciate it Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻🍻
The handle is on the one side only because the casters swivel on that side. The side with no handle doesn’t have wheels that swivel. You couldn’t pull it and push it the same way the handle side can. Yeah, you could pull and push it, though. They should put a handle on both sides, possible swivel wheels on both sides and I think people would gladly pay more. I’ve seen a bunch of reviews about this griddle and the consensus is the build quality is ok and could be better. Blackstone should get engaged with their customers and really listen to their feedback and come out with “The People’s Griddle/Grill.”
Great points John. I agree two handles with swivel wheels on both sides would have been nice. I’ve heard some of the newer 36” models have improved build quality which is great to hear so perhaps Blackstone is listening to their customers. We love Blackstone we just want it to be the best it can possibly be. Appreciate you watching and sharing your thoughts! 👍🏻😊
I’m looking at a griddle and I can’t decide between Blackstone, Weber or Traeger.
@@johnsopko2682 John I know you won’t be disappointed with a Blackstone. Our review was critical but only because we want an already great product to be even better.
Great review Jamie! I got the 22" Blackstone combo pack maybe 4 years ago on a black Friday sale. Came with the griddle, stand, hood, and adapter hose for a 20lb propane tank for $137 at Wal-Mart. Really enjoy cooking on it and it's all i need since it is just me. The only downside i had with it is it originally uses the small green bottles of propane and the hookup is on the right which is where the only side table is. Just gets in the way so i drilled new holes on the left side and moved the table since i do not use the bottles anyway. Would still like to have 2 tables though!
You definitely got a good deal Steve. Much better being able to use a 20lbs tank over those little bottles. Appreciate you watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Great review! Nice job!
Thanks so much Mark! Appreciate you watching! 👍🏻
Awesome video!! Thanks for posting! I'm about to buy the Ace Hardware model of that grill, and am very excited! The attached lid will be a nice addition.
Thanks so much for watching!! Awesome, hope you enjoy your new grill!! 👍🏻
@@PinetreeLine very welcome!!
The handle is where it is because those are the wheels that pivot during moving around.
Awesome video guys.

Excellent review Jamie The Adventure Chef! I have this same grill and absolutely agree with all of your assessments. I fortunately, have a dedicated spot for it, so I don't have to move it except to clean around it. Mine did not come with that awesome lid, so I have to deal with a vinyl cover (whitch sucks!) But, otherwise, I love cooking on it and it is a breakfast machine! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us and #keeponcooking Brother!
Thanks so much Brandon! It sounds like you concur with Jamie’s review of the Blackstone. Jamie loves cooking on it too! Appreciate you watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Nice beautiful place my friend watching Po G0d bless
Thanks so much friend! 👍🏻😊
Hey Jamie, good honest and transparent review mate. I reckon being a regular user Blackstone has to take on board your observations. Take care over there. Mark
Yes Jamie has the experience with Blackstone to back up any review he does Mark. Have a great weekend Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Hi Jamie!
I purchased a 36 in Blackstone about a year and a half ago. I like it but it is my first gridle. The flaws you talked about are the same as I have experienced, but there is one more you missed. The shelf on the left side has a magnet on it. that is great if you are left handed but the shelf on the right does not have one. I am right handed which means I have to reach over my self to get the tools I have on the magnet. Have a nice day.
Thanks Gene, good call! Appreciate your input and thanks for watching! 👍🏻
Beautiful view!
Thanks so much! 👍🏻👊🏻
Fantastic review, good job, like.
Thanks so much!! 👍🏻😊
Great review Jamie ,
I’ve outgrown cooking on a grill plate, I’ve come to rediscover my Webber lol, with the extra expense of purchasing a pizza stone it was the best investment I’ve made,
Take care mate, PS hello Doug 👍🍻
Hey Jim! I tell ya one thing whatever Jamie cooks on that Blackstone tastes incredible! Appreciate you watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻🍻
Well, I was going to purchase one. Not so much now. I see maybe $100 worth of materials and labor there with too many flaws to justify their asking price. Not to mention I’m seeing a lot of people selling them on Facebook marketplace. I also see many pictures where the top is severely rusted and or damaged in some way leading me to believe this entire unit is more of a gimmick in my personal opinion. Thanks for the review, just another company that won’t be ripping me off!
You’re welcome Michael. The whole point of an honest review is so people can make an educated decision on whether or not they want to spend their hard earned money on a product. Appreciate you watching and commenting! 👊🏻👍🏻
Nice review Jamie. I have the 28 inch and I'd recommend the 36 . For the price point it's a good value but it's definitely not ment to lug around . Cheers 👍
Well said Steve! Appreciate you watching Buddy! 👍🏻👊🏻🍻
Great review thanks
Thanks Jason! Appreciate you taking the time to watch! 👍🏻👊🏻
For the price I can adjust to the "flimsiness" of the external shelves and legs. I don't plan on moving it around too much. The four burner setup and the 36" cooking area is what I want.
Awesome Joe! You won’t be disappointed. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍🏻
Thank you. Good video
Thank you for watching! 😊
great video, have a nice day, look forward to your video every day
Thank you so much friend! 👍🏻😊
I seasoned my griddle and cooked my 1st meal. It was windy today in Indiana and my roll of paper towels ended up on the neighbors property I agree about the handle as well. You have to take all your tools off the griddle and unhook the propane tank just to get to the handle. I really enjoyed the smash burgers tonight
It’s definitely a bit of a give and take William. We love our Blackstone but it’s not perfect is all we are saying. Nothing like a good smash burger! Appreciate you sharing your experience with us!
I was using the offset this past weekend, just north of Indy and went through double the wood splits as usual just because of that wind. Rough place to cook outside most of the year.
@@JDsBBQnBourbon I live in Greenfield Indiana

Awesome Andrew! Happy Blackstone Griddling! 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch! 👍🏻☺️
I was on the fence about purchasing one, don’t think I’m going to, all’s I hear also is the flat top rusts, along with everything else you mentioned
You absolutely need to make an informed decision before spending your hard earned money. Ongoing care and conditioning of the griddle is essential to keep it from rusting. Appreciate you watching! 👍🏻
If you know you can put the tank on either side, how is it a con with the handle? Move the tank to the other side then you’ll be able to move it by the handle. Standard > metric
It will still have only have one handle Brian. Jamie is not talking about moving the unit around in a certain space, he’s talking about moving the unit from one area to another. I guess the entire world is wrong about metric? 🤔
I knew a person that was a quality control engineer for a manufacturing company. He said that he could engineer a product that would quit working a few weeks after the warranty period had ended or it would last 15-20 years. Just depended on what they wanted.
Unreal what happens in the manufacturing industry but nothing surprises me anymore. Appreciate your input Michael! 👍🏻👊🏻
Thank you for the video, well done! What do you do to cover it during rain/snow? Do you use a cover or just use the lid?
I use a Blackstone cover I purchased on Amazon. Thank you so much for watching! 👍🏻
I appreciate the very honest review of this Grill. It seems that the cooking surface is stellar but the frame, side tables and overall flimsy build would keep me away, especially for the price (I just looked it up!). I would expect some of the lower-quality features in a grill for about half the price but this one should be stronger-built. Cheers!
Thanks so much Craig. You’re not wrong on any of your points. Appreciate you watching brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
@@PinetreeLine You guys always give honest reviews with no fluff. That's what people appreciate. That's why we trust your reviews. Keep up the great work...but keep an eye on Doug, he sometimes will nibble off the grill before the dinner bell rings, watch out for that!🙄😜
Thanks for an honest review. Great job. Look like a very nice flat grill. But those side tables got to go...
It’s a great grill but there are some deficiencies. Appreciate you watching brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
A goid, honest review. Unfortunately, companies that bring products to market early on, eventually lose sales because newer competitors get to hear from the users what they like and don't like and can build and offer a better product. Now, Traeger has jumped in and their flat top looks superior, based on the early reviews. Of course, it's more expensive, but, if you figure it will last many years, and you enjoy using it instead of constantly making allowances, then you have a winner. We will see if Blackstone steps up and fixes their deficiencies and will offer a competitive product going forward.
Thanks so much John! I agree with what you’re saying but companies like Blackstone who bring products to the market early should be listening to their customers too and keep improving their products instead of cutting some corners. Appreciate your input! 👍🏻
Thank you.
You’re welcome! Appreciate you taking the time to watch.
couple things to look out for. when you grab free floating cover to lower and hook on the back, don't accidentally hook the grease trap that has dirty grease from day
before and knock it to the ground making a gross mess. not hard to do but you'll only do it once. the paper towels like to unroll and blow about on that holder for some reason.
the wind will inevitably blow them right into the open flame underneath, like happened to me. fortunately i had cleaned up the grease slick on the floor of my garage before the paper towel
fire made its way into it. no complaints but this thing cooks really hot !!! i usually have the rh burner off totally and the rest on low and only move the way lh to high when cooking the proteins and that only for 5-10 minutes. hot hot
Thank you for sharing your input and experience Jim. Appreciate it! 👍🏻👊🏻
He literally mentioned both of those things Jim
Thanks for the review. What model number is this? The 2177?
Thanks so much for watching! It’s the 2149 model. 👍🏻
Nice location right there on the lake!! Is that your primary or vacation place?
That is Jamie’s primary residence. He and his wife worked hard to be able to live on a lake. Thanks so much for watching! 👍🏻👊🏻
Thank you Jamie for a no bullshit review , iv'e had many a different brand of bbq's over the years both flatop & combination flat/grill style & the one thing that has always annoyed me is the amount of inconsistent heat areas, some have had really bad hot & cold spots. some worse than others. i could possibly forgive a little bit of a flimsy construction on the frame & legs as long as the heat is well distributed & even across the griddle. this particular unit is approx a $750 dollar purchase in AU & that wont include a gas bottle or any of the tools & bottles. which compared to some other brands is double & triple the price for similar features, so i want to be confident its going to be worthwhile.
we will soon find out.
Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts brother! Never had any issues with inconsistent heat with this griddle. Good luck!! 👍🏻👊🏻
Thank you very much for sharing your review. Do you have any updates since you posted this approximately 8 months ago?
Bro, you look very intelligent! Being a man who seems so crafty, you should be able to fabricate a simple handle and attach it to the other side of the grill. If I do purchase one of these, that would be one of the first things I would do based on your review.
Thanks for watching Ken. I can report that I use this Blackstone once a week on average and continue to love it. The purpose of the review was to let people know what they are getting out of the box and my impartial thoughts on the good and not so good of this griddle. That being said, yes you’re right a number of issues can easily be resolved if you’re handy at all. Appreciate your thoughts Brother! 👊🏻👍🏻
Just bought the same unit and agree with most of the questionable or negative issues.
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch. Appreciate it! 👍🏻
I am about to purchase one of these, but have a couple questions. I appreciate your honest review and was wondering if you could help me out. Do you cover it with a weather proof cover as well, or is the lid for the grill sufficient? I was seeing reviews of people getting condensation under their fabric covers and it rusting their surface. What do you suggest? How do you protect it from rain, humidity, and dew?
Hi Victoria, I do not use a cover, just the lid and my Blackstone is somewhat protected from the elements where I locate it under an overhang from my house. That being said, I still keep the cooking surface seasoned (oiled) between uses and all good. Good luck with your purchase and happy cooking!! 😊👍🏻
The new model has an integrated attached flip up lid
Saw that. That is a huge improvement. Thanks for sharing!
Cheers. I wish they’d do a plancha/ griddle that can sit on an existing bbq. I just don’t have the space like you do in the USA. Thanks for the review, you live in a lovely place.
That’s not a bad idea Polly. We are actually in Canada which has even more space 😂. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. 👍🏻😊

Great review Jamie. One question for you. The reviews on Blackstone complain a lot about the paint bubbling, chipping and some rusting on the body. Have you experienced any of these? I think the one I was look at was the 2151 model with the hood, but I kind of like your model with the fully removable lid. What do you think?
Thanks so much Brian! No issues with paint, chipping or rusting on the body. I keep mine protected from the elements of weather and there hasn’t been any issues. Although I was critical of where the removable lid gets stored, I like to cook not being behind a lid. Just a personal preference I guess. Good luck with whichever you decide. Appreciate you taking the time to watch!! 👍🏻
Great for $249 at Tractor Supply Co, bought one yesterday.
Absolutely Luis! I love mine and you’re going to love yours! Thanks for watching! 👍🏻👊🏻
36 inch
Only put a handle on one side but not on the other so I can't lift from the handless side. Proceeds to lift the griddle from the handless side to show the grease tray. Lol
You’re a funny guy Jim 😂. The complaint about the handle is to move the unit from one area to another not to move the unit within a particular space. Expecting more for your hard earned money is not a bad thing…is it?
I have a smaller size Blackstone grill for a few years now, well used only complaint I have to bring the top inside after I clean it. It's gets very rusty if I leave it outside in a matter of days
Nice! Happy you’re enjoying yours Ray! Thanks for sharing your experience. 👍🏻
@@PinetreeLine using it now, I let it cool off completely and smear hog lard on it lol and bring it inside. I cooked some bacon wrapped pork chops and and 2 pork lions wrapped in aluminum foil with peppers, onions and tomatoes. Yummy 😋Too bad I can't send a picture lol
@@raymorris104 You’re description was more that good enough Ray! Yummy!
Great review. Just picked mine up for $299. Biggest challenge I have is griddle maintenance just because I live in south Florida.
Awesome to hear Dana! Keep the griddle lightly oiled when not in use. Enjoy! Thanks for watching!
I assemble these at a a well known big box store The Gen 2 is not nearly the quality as the previous versions. The hardware now used is smaller and lower quality. Plus about half the amount holding it together. Everything is cheaper. Only thing that seems to be the same is the actual griddle.
Thanks so much for your input. There’s definitely something to be desired when it comes to the overall quality of this Blackstone 36 inch Griddle. 👍🏻👊🏻
I just received and assembled mine yesterday and I must say....they must have upgraded the thing because mine is not flimsy at all! My only issue is that the cover doesn't hang completely vertical because it hits the grease cup. It was late in the day so maybe I did something wrong. I'll investigate today. Thanks for the video!
Awesome John! Good to hear your Blackstone is solid and you’re happy with it. You won’t be disappointed. Although the review is critical at times we love Blackstone products and continue to use them. Appreciate you watching!!
Yeah I just got the 36” inch yesterday and it’s not flimsy. My hardtop cover doesn’t sit vertical because of the grease cup either. I think it’s a design flaw.
@@damiand8681 Good to hear your Blackstone isn’t flimsy either Damian, love hearing this trend! Happy cooking!
Just picked mine up today. I don't like the way the cover hangs off the back, I plan on just setting it aside while cooking and replacing once the grill is cool. I agree with needing a handle on both ends, He is spot on, the paper towels will self deploy with the slightest breeze.
Do you know if you can attach a direct propane line to it from a house?
I don’t see why not as long at you take the proper steps and have a professional run a hose and regulator from your house for the Blackstone to access. Thanks for watching!! 👍🏻
Thanks. What model number is it?
Thanks for watching! It’s the 2149 model.
New friend here.
My best wishes for you.

Thank you my friend! 👍🏻😊
Is it easy to clean?
If I use a normal grill doesn't that make the grease fall off the meat vs this one just stays altogether
As you’re cooking you keep pushing the grease to the back of the griddle where the grease slot is located. The grease will fall into the grease tray. Thanks for watching!! 👍🏻
@@PinetreeLine ok ty bro
Do you recommend those solar deck lights? Are they also motion sensor?
Hi Victor. The deck lights work great. No they aren’t motion sensor. Appreciate you watching!
@@PinetreeLine can I get a link for the deck lights if you have them?
@@vihernandez979 Sorry Victor I don’t have the link. All the best!
The handle is on the side that has rotating wheels.
Which is great for moving the unit within a limited space but not great when you have to move the unit from one area to another.
Blackstone offeres another 36 inch griddle thats has a slightly better build quality, and it also comes with a hood that you can lift up vs the lid that you have to pull off. The upgraded model costs $500 whereas the model in this video is going for $300. Personally I'd recommend the cheaper one since there's not that much of a difference.
Thanks for watching! Appreciate it!
Shouldn't all the models have better build quality???
@@Exceptionalcigar229 Absolutely but clearly that not been the case unfortunately.
Isn’t the top supposed to be bolted, preventing the contact with the grease tray issue? I see the holes for the bolts…
The holes in the sides of your griddle top are for manufacturing purposes only; while in production, the griddle top is hung from those holes. They are not there to accept any hardware for a hinge. The griddle is being used properly as seen in the video. Thanks for taking the time to watch and inquire.
too bad it is not as good as it's cousins.. good to have an honest review and hopefully the company makes some improvements// looks overall decent// the smaller one sure sounds good to me i keep getting closer to an outdoor griddle for camping
The 17 inch Blackstone is a beast and is definitely well built and portable and would be perfect for camping. This one is definitely the stay home model 😂. Appreciate you watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
I'm working on an idea to somehow hing the lid. If anyone has an idea. Let me know
Good luck! Hope you can figure something out.
It's called PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE, I try to stay away from companies that do that. There are still companies out there that make quality products that will last a lifetime.
Interesting. Many people now claiming that their newer 36 inch griddles are made sturdier. Blackstone now produces a 36 inch griddle with a hinged lid, which they didn’t previous. I definitely think you’re on to something. Appreciate you watching and especially sharing your thoughts! 👍🏻👊🏻

Canadian!!!!!!!!
Let's be honest, if they beefed up everything the price would be 30%+ more expensive. This was made to fit a price point that is already on the more expensive side for most consumers.
A very valid point however, this is a review of this particular unit as it is. The value of the unit for the potential buyer is then based on those factors, both good and bad so the buyer can determine whether or not they feel it’s worth the cost. Appreciate your input.

damn theres a lot of flaws lol
Unfortunately yes. It still works well but it’s good to be aware of it’s flaws too. Appreciate you watching! 👍🏻
I bought an 36" black stone and I Hate it. It's the most ass-backward grill i have ever seen. I was so uncomfortable cooking on it that after a couple of times gave it away. Why in the world they set the oil drain on the top. It made it very inconvenient to cook or clean the grill. pushing the unwanted oil and food forward and try to get it in that hole is backward with any grill i have ever seen or used. I would not have another one, if it they gave it to me for free. Bad Design, and cheaply made product
Sorry you had such a bad experience with your Blackstone. It’s definitely not the perfect grill but for the majority of users it meets their needs. Appreciate your feedback!
