  • A mini-tutorial on how to farm Raw Materials in the sci-fi space flight sim game, Elite:Dangerous.
Officially called "Raw Materials" in the game, these are elements from the Periodic Table primarily used in engineering one's ship. However, they have a host of other uses unrelated to engineering:
    • Reload your ship's weapons.
    • Rearm your SRV.
    • Repair your SRV.
    • Refuel your SRV.
    • Synthesize Limpets.
    • Synthesize Oxygen.
A crashed Anaconda on Planet Orrere 2 B offers 3 Cargo Racks that can be looted for Antimony, Ruthenium, Tellurium, Tungsten, and Zirconium. The first three listed are Grade 4 Raw Mats (the highest grade) which can be traded at a Material Trader for other mats. Refer to this page for more details on materials and their exchange tables when trading:

This farming spot is repeatable; simply log off to the Main Menu and back in again to reset the Cargo Racks. Happy farming!

Didn't know you could shoot the canisters off. It seems helpful, so I won't have to hop out with my Maverick and get like 5 or 4 canisters

These are not canisters, but cargo compartments. It won't work with the maverick's cutter

You're welcome; glad it helped. I haven't been to the site since the engineering update, but from what I understand there are even more cargo racks to farm now. Also, apparently they can be farmed using Flak Launchers paired with Collector Limpets, similar to Brain Tree Farming.
