    I like it and I'll tell you why - you're building something a working man could knock out in a few weekends with tools he probably already owns. I, too, would like to see the finished project.

    I'm going to try this. I'm gonna use hardwood for the top and the finish will be epoxy. The sides I'm going to try reclaimed wood preferably slats from fencing, but burning some of the slates before applying them. The finish with several coat of polyurethane. Thank your for the great video

      @@VanDamArtisan I had been trying to figure out the framing and all I could come up with seemed way to complicated, but you made it look very easy, especially for us normal guys with minimal power tools

      +Brian Hutchins I will post a video as soon as I can. This client is having me convert his garage into a master suite currently but when that finishes we'll resume the man cave

      I am just starting my first year of carpentry, lots to learn. I've never seen anybody cut the round edge with the skill saw like that, or make the cuts for the sheet to wrap around the wall. Il have to try it! 👍🏻

    • @VanDamArtisan
      @VanDamArtisan  7 років тому +1

      It's easy. The first home I ever framed had a bunch of round walls. Just be sure to only score the sheet half way.

      You bet. I want to build a bar in my basement now, but I don't own the house lol

    Awesome. What is the depth of the cut and the distance between the cuts and the thickness of the OSB you used?

    • @VanDamArtisan
      @VanDamArtisan  Рік тому

      1/2" osb cut about every 2" about 1'4" deep. The tighter the bend the closer the cuts need to be.

    He never posted a video of the final product :(. Any idea how to cover this type of wood to give it a smooth finish?

    • @VanDamArtisan
      @VanDamArtisan  3 роки тому

      Sorry about that, the owner never had me finish the project. I think they ran out of money. I've seen people sand the osb and give it several coats of polyurethane and that works well.

    This is old but hoping for an answer. What kind of plywood is that? OSB? Once you add the plywood on the front face, is this strong enough to hold a marble countertop with additional steel supports?

    • @VanDamArtisan
      @VanDamArtisan  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, osb, which makes its very rigid. The 2x4's will be adequate to support the marble. If the marble overhangs then add supprts because it can be brittle. This construction actually ends up being stronger than regular cabinets.

      It bends easier than plywood. I was concerned about the plywood cracking.

    I built my bar rough too. Super strong but all with raw timber framing. You can jump on it and it won't move a cm. Finishing though I was a bit more careful. Check my channel if you want a look. My video editing is bad though and my camera is a budget phone.
