The cool thing about the Carolina rig is it's actually a multi-species rig I've used it for bullhead catfish, channel catfish, blue catfish, flathead catfish, bluegill, white crappie, black crappie, redear sunfish, pumpkinseed, rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, freshwater drum, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, northern pike, and muskie in freshwater. And in saltwater I have used it for barred surf perch, red snapper, and flounder so it's a very effective rig for many different species pretty much all of them if you rig it according to that specific species the trick is just knowing what bait to use for each species and that's about it really it's all rigged the same it's just the bait that's different.

Yes, and it can be fished on the bottom from the bank, drifting/ dragging or suspended at any level in a boat. And it can catch way more types of fish than you have listed. Great rig!

@@bradreynoldsbtcatfishingad7656 yeah I've been fishing for 25 years of my life and I've pretty much used the Carolina rig exclusively for every fish I've fished for in my life.

In swivel a 1#, 1/0 up to about a 3/0 should be fine. In hooks, I prefer 5/0 & 8/0 going sometimes up to a 10/0 Circle hook. The bead will vary also, a medium to large bead depending on water conditions and the size of weight that is needed. Good luck to ya!!

      @@bradreynoldsbtcatfishingad7656 is a swivel sz 3 too big ? and how about a 6 circle hook ?

3# or 3/0, They both will work, but the 3/0 has a stinger test pound strength. And a 6/0 is just fine.

If you are talking about the little bead you can go without, but, the is a risk of damaging the knot at the hook with the sinker if you do. This could cause you to lose a fish. If you are talking about the sinker, a flat, no-roll sinker will work just as well. Be sure to snell your hooks if not using a bead, the knot will be more protected from the sinker that way. I'll leave a link that teaches how to snell a hook below. Good question, hope that helps you, and thanks for watching. Please be sure to like and subscribe if you haven't already. Thanks again!
