      @@safebox36 One of the best decisions super early Pixar made was to make movies with a primarily non-human cast (toys, bugs, monsters, and fish) so that they don’t have to worry about human skin and dealing with too much uncanny valley. They played up the strengths of CGI, while experimenting through short films to work out its weaknesses at the time. Sid and Andy look rough, but by the time they got to The Incredibles and Ratatouille, they finally got human characters to look aesthetically pleasing.

      Them being pissed about Flik makes zero sense too. What were they actually mad about? The circus gang? Flik being the one behind the bird plan? And why is looked as that bad to begin with, since they know the plan can still work? I’d say the answer with the most logic is that they disagreed with circus performers concocting the defensive strategy. But there's nothing to allude that they have any prejudice to certain types of bugs.
      And the Queen's plan is just as dumb. Hiding the whole thing and pretending it all didn't happen? WHY!? Even when they do act like it didn't happen, I still don't know what their plan is. Are they gonna say "We apologize, Hopper. We are still picking your food because we got distracted while doing something". Like they had a bird, ready scare him and his gang off, but no.... the idea won't work because it came from a LIAR. F**k off writers. You just make the queen look like a dumb**s.
      Now some have argued that because Flik is despised by the colony, mostly the council, they see anything he does as doomed right from the get-go, therefore they now believe that his his bird plan will fail. EXCEPT WHY THEN WOULD THEY EVEN BOTHER HELPING HIM BUILD IT TO BEGIN WITH!?

    • @aether3697
      @aether3697 3 місяці тому

      @MrJomalley123 @osmanyousif7849 I think their decision mostly stem from their tendency to be risk averse, and their unity and loyalty to one another made them distrustful to any form betreyal, thus, if they can't trust Flick, they can't trust his strategy, therefore, they decided to stick with the conventional(pick up harvests). I know, it doesn't much sense when one try to think about it, but judging by the ants' intellect before that scene, well... let's just say they are more intuitive and irrational

    *1)* I LOVE how A Bug's Life's narrative is essentially a more family-friendly take on Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, if the samurai were easily misled circus people. It's one of the most creative examples of reimagining a familiar premise.
    *2)* Thumper terrified me as a little kid in theaters. It was my first time seeing an animated character (let alone an anthropomorphic insect) that moved & vocalized with such ferocity. His boss battle in the A Bug's Life Playstation game was similarly scary. I restarted after dying so many times and always dreaded returning to that particular fight.
    *3)* I didn't learn until college that Hayden Panettiere's first feature film acting role was voicing Princess Dot at age 9.
    *4)* The animated "outtakes" for this movie are hilarious and showed how the creators & crew genuinely had fun making this movie. The two that had me crying were Julia Louis-Dreyfus losing it at Kevin Spacey and the bird malfunction.

    Fun Fact: Pixar did their best to make the bugs in the film look much more appealing than they do in reality. Because real bugs are creepy to us, and there's a few reasons for that, but a big reason is the legs. Almost all bugs on Earth have 6 legs, it's a defining trait that helps us identify them. But 6 legs is also very unappealing to us, so for the character designs of the film a lot of the bugs have only 4 limbs. This includes all the ants, Francis, Manny, Gypsy, etc. There are a few exceptions to this however. If the bug character had very strange proportions, then they were given 6 limbs to fit the abstract look. This includes Slim's very tall stance, Dim's gigantic build, Heimlich being a caterpillar, and also Rosie just needs 8 legs because she's a spider, etc. But the biggest exception was the grasshoppers. All the grasshoppers in the film were given 6 limbs to add to their evil personalities. The contrast they have to the 4 limbed ants makes them even more threatening and creepy.
    Bonus Fact: The characters in Antz have 6 legs, and so a lot of people remember being uncomfortable when watching that film. This is exactly what Pixar avoided.

    8:25 I had a friend in high school, let's call him Jim. I went to Jim's house one day to play gears of war. We were playing in the basement. Jim's house was incredibly messy. I was hungry so I asked if I could have some food. He pulled out an open bag of chips from the floor that was underneath his couch and offered it to me. I ate some of the chips. I couldn't really refuse the guy.
    Later that night I stayed over on his couch. When I woke up I found spiders all over me. The couch was a spider nest. The open bag of chips was under the couch. In the spider nest.
    We remained friends for years after that, but that night never left me
