1000 grams in a kilogram. Usually beyond 1000 grams just switch to kg. You also probably don't need more than two decimal places for kgs of gear and no decimal places for grams of gear.
I followed you because of that video! UA-cam hadn't even recommended you to me before then and I live off of backpacking videos at the moment. I enjoy the energy and humor of your channel 🙂
Just wanted to say I've used your reviews a LOT when picking my supplies and your recommendations are very good. I've started bike trekking and as a wildlife photographer, a good 80% of my pack weight is photography equipment 🙄 ( which can't be helped) So to be able to reduce weight in the panniers while still camping fairly comfortably is very pleasing. Thanks for your channel!
Just 21 pounds. Cool gear. I'm feeling pretty good now. My typical load out is 22 including a REI Flexlite chair. I really enjoy your videos. Not just information; your sense of humor is a big plus. Thanks. TomLovesDIY.
Thank you for your videos. I am always looking forward to the next. In response to your questions, we typically use grams for measurements up to 1000 grams. Once we reach 1000 grams, which is equivalent to 1 kilogram, we switch to using kilograms. For daily use, such as when measuring hiking gear, we usually round the measurements and use minimal decimals, if any. However, in scientific contexts, the precision required often dictates the use of more decimals in grams.
Aha haha (8:40) yes the metrics conversions XD not yet a dealbreaker between my guy (from texas) and myself (from Holland) but thankfully he took it upon himself to learn to convert by heart. Thank you Tony!!
best pad I've ever had and i never want another after that is the Naturehike R8.8 its 12cm thick, 8 layers NKTR foil, 65cm wide, weight 690g. you cant beat this!
I’ve been using outdoor product’s bags for 10+ years. Can’t be them for the price for what I use them for. I have several OV products I like. I have their shirts and rain jacket and hoodies. Never had an issue with their stuff.
Consider a Tilley hat [LTM6] (I hate hoodies-they kill peripheral vision, slump on your back, and don't help with sweat). I backpack in Michigan with near-total shade, but the Tilley absorbs my forehead sweat, sheds the rain, and blocks the sun. And I roll my Marmot rain jacket hood into the included collar storage. PERFECT!
It’s all ❤ bros! Love all of your videos and your humorous honesty. And I have to say as you posted your weights there were some “hefty” items there that had me silently screaming at the TV. But your reasonably light total astounded me. And if you forgot your food that coukd really be your true trail weight. Lol. Nicely done.
Aren't ya kind with that mention... I had to unload those bags on someone ya know. 21 lbs... not bad, that will be a good weight for the Willowa's trip this August..... Once again a great vid. Oh, I didn't think you'd give up the signature Bryce Newbold bright orange trail runners for hiking for pink.....
If you’re adding up all the grams, it makes sense to leave it in grams. You can also choose to express the total in kilograms in which case, move the decimal point 3 places to the left (1000 gm in each kg). (186.4 oz)(28.3 gm/oz) = 5284 gm. (5284 gm)/(1000 gm/kg) = 5.284 kg. There are about 2.2 lbs in a kg, so if you’re happy stopping at a tenth of a pound, then a tenth of a kilogram makes sense. It kinda depends what you are describing and for what purpose, ie how detailed you want to be. You might want to stop at a tenth or a hundredth of a kilogram. In any case, thanks for the metric (and also for putting them on screen for those of us with memories like goldfish). It’s just one of those things that get better the more you use it. You develop a sense of scale when you use it for stuff you care about. Go weigh a lot of stuff. Have fun with it.
Love all my OV gear! My sun hoodie and Satu pants are staples on all my outdoor adventures. Just picked up my speedgoat 5's hope to love them as much as I did with the 4's. Hope your leg is feeling better!
You know you’re getting old when you bring gloves, down booties, and hand warmers on a spring trip! Also lots of comments on how hilarious you are. Such personal growth 😂
3:20 Those Walmart stuff sacks come in a three pack with three sizes, but only one size is usable. The other two are way too long and difficult to use or access the stuff in the bottom.
Great video as always Bryce. Cool to see the Outdoor Vitals gear in action. I'm really considering their rain jacket at the moment but I'm not sure how confident I am in a "less waterproof" front of the jacket as we are moving to coastal Oregon where we're gonna get rained on pretty much every day. Any thoughts?
I used to really dislike Outdoor Vitals because it was all white label chinese gear with their logo slapped on. Now that they actually seem to be innovating, I find my dislike for them vanishing. Still haven't ever pulled the trigger on their gear. You previously stated that you were trying to bring more of your humor to your videos and I think you're doing a really good job of it. Your personality is even shining through this gear list (even if you're basically being a Tayson clone). 😂
I think so. My feet are wide (can't wear nikes/ASICS). I don't even order the wide version of hokas and they are fine. They did feel snug at first but I never blister in them.
Glad to see you trying to use metric weights! Keep it up… makes so much more sense for all of us in the rest of the world 😆

Yeah...BUT... NONE of them are the important parts 🤪🤪🤪
Can you be my math teacher
@@Bille12387 Dude....I'm just Canadian.
Nobody cares. Kilograms are fake units, anyway. Same with Celsius.

There you are!~ Great Vid as always...fun watch!
I just found your channel a few weeks ago and I gotta say, you have quickly become one of my favorites.
Nice, Thanks for showing grams for us European foreigners as well. 😊
I've said it be fore, but I'll say so again.
I really enjoy your vids. Your sense of humor is really appreciated!! 😂😂😂😂

Bryce, your videos always make me laugh. You have a wonderful sense of humor and I appreciate you sprinkling the humor in with the gear reviews.
No hate! I've been liking all the OV gear I've bought so far, and you're totally up front with your intentions! 👍

A 10:53 outdoor vitals commercial
Thanks for the metric, Bryce.

I admit…I do use that same red Walmart bag as my toilet kit… Great vid!

Hoka Speedgoat 5 is an amazing shoe and is what I use for hiking
Thanks for the fun video.
Great video, man. I wish you made more of them.
I made that mistake with Goodr's at Niagra Falls! Wish I had known!
Bryce - thanks for sharing! I appreciate the info on the gear you got in Utah. Great stuff. Not hate comment hear. LOL Thanks again! -dave
Thanks for sharing Bryce, saving this vid to my fav list when I start shopping for new gear 🙌
Your hoodie moirés like crazy

Make a Steak in the back country 🔥
Those hokas are good for wide feet???
I think so. My feet are wide (can't wear nikes/ASICS). I don't even order the wide version of hokas and they are fine. They did feel snug at first but I never blister in them.
❤
They've been saying that pad is limited run for over a year now
Once you go wide/long sleeping pad you just can’t go back! Especially if it’s sea bass colored.
OV doesn’t make socks huh?
Y not vacuum pump on your water filter like coffee. Or just use your coffee pump for water filter all in 1
👍👍👍👍
OV is great!❤
METRIC SYSTEM
Schmedium?
between small and medium. haha
OV not a cult
If youte hiking in the U.S.... then use the imperial weight system, like the local natives do...🤪
1000 grams in a kilogram homie ❤
1 kg is 1000 grams so more than 3 decimal points is unnecessary . Counting weights less than a gram would be some extreme gram weinery 🤣
Metric is simple centi = x100 kilo = ×1000
What a cringy sponsored video
I agree, OV owns this guy.
