Yet another example of the law of inaccessibility; removing any component will require the previous removal of another one.

Removing the radiator hose to get the fans out feels silly to me. If one piece of plastic was a cm or two smaller that wouldn’t of been necessary

Don’t need to on XJR. Just twist the fan pack closer to 45 Degs to get it out.

The Bonnet can be put into service mode for easier access, disconnect the struts and lean the Bonnet forward, secure it with a couple of bolts in holes provided.

The earliest of these cars are approaching 30 years old, so I should say they are classics already! Lovely engine and great work.

To give yourself better access to the front of the engine on an XK8 disconnect the strut support and the bonnet will tilt further forward, do note there is a hole to place a bolt or screwdriver or... on the hinge to stop it falling on your head

Great to see these slightly more modern cars too!

I’m glad you liked it! These still feel “new” to me compared to what I usually work on.

Very nice to see you working on these "newer" vehicles. As you mentioned, these are now becoming classics and are much more accessible and drivable here in a modern environment than the older ones here in the US. Thank you, Adam.

It is possible to just replace the bearings in the idlers and tensioners just by pressing them out. This is much cheaper than buying a new tensioner or idler.

But more expensive for a customer. Remember that labor costs too.
Plus I wouldn’t want to reuse parts that caused a belt to fail

Agree re xk growing on me. Hated them at first. Very affordable and bargains considering the features, esp engine.
A great video as well!! I love these csi style vids. Crime occurred, view crime scene, solve case.

That was painful to listen to. It's nice to know that the seriousness of problems isn't necessarily proportional to the unpleasantness of the noises they create.

Great video, I have done this job too and was worried when you were going lefty loosy because one of those pulleys bolt is reversed and it is righty loosy and not lefty loosy. Which one is that?

Another episode of "not a problem ,always a solution" .....Thankyou Adam . I don't know how these cars fair in your part of the world but over here in the UK they are rust buckets that remind one of the terrible build quality of the 1960 's.
