Great idea for accuracy if you don't have a table saw and not making too deep of cuts. Keep up the great work as the goal is to continue to inspire others to DIY and build something awesome!
This will work where a table saw will not in many cases, just like a track saw. I made one similar to this, but I used 1/2" ply for the track and a 1/4" base I had for my circular saw. It gives me two inches of cutting depth. Great for breaking down sheet goods or cutting the edge of a large piece like a table.
that didn’t look safe at all! with the blade spinning while his hand was reaching onto the table? He should have turned off the saw as soon as the cut was done.
I have made a very simple one before but I need to be careful that the saw doesn't come to the right ans ruin the cut as it doesn't have anything to hold on place. Your design is much better. I tho k it is my favorite so far and I will one just like yours but maybe out of 12mm instead of 18mm. Awesome idea. I love it. Keep up the good work.
Hey J. What a great take on this tool. As always, bringing fresh insight, perspectives, and innovations to tried and trusted methods. I REALLY need to make one of these. I've neglected my handheld saw so badly that I haven't even changed the blade since the 90s...I'm just awful sometimes. It's a great saw too but I just hardly ever use the thing. But, if I'd make something like this, I'd get more use out of it because it would be better to use. Thanks for visiting this technique. Great video.
There are so many videos of similar jigs with this and I have another one which was made and uploaded before. But I hardly use it. It has a problem. I needed to make another. I hesitated making this video because I would bother my subscribers. Sorry about that. As I'm a UA-camr I am urged to upload periodically. My creativity isn't like wells. It sometimes runs out. Now I'm in the same situation. That's why you met the boring video. Thanks for your kind compliment as always. Take good care of you friend.
You make such a useful videos I love all of them so far. I am not in the habit, but now I felt to write something positive comment . You are doing great, keep up uploading videos like this!
I built 2 (much simpler versions), 1 is 4' and the other is 8'. On both, I put anti-slip tape on the bottom so I don't have to clamp them down. I still will if I REALLY need to be extremely precise and get paranoid, but for all the jobs I've done so far, the tape works perfectly well as long as you don't put a lot of sideways pressure on the saw (which you shouldn't be doing anyway).
Very nice. I will make something similar in the near future. I wanted to ask if you have or plan to add an outfeed table for your table saw? I notice that when you make cuts that you hold the board down at the end of the cut and either turn the saw off or lower the blade. I used to do that then I added an outfeed table to support the wood. It was a way to make using the saw safer. You are very skilled and I enjoy watching your videos a great deal. If you have children or grandchildren you could teach them about wood working too. Thank you again for all you do. Stay safe and I hope everyone is happy and healthy.
Thanks for your kind advice sir. As you said I'm making an outfeed table. And you will be able to watch the video soon. Stay safe and please be happy sir.

I didn't understand the purpose of the fence at the end of the build attached to the track. If the saw runs in the track, it shouldn't be able to move.
J, why do you use both a miter groove and the fence? Can you just use the saw with the miter without the fence. Seems to me that the fence would do nothing when the miter slot is keeping the saw in line.
I like this, but I think that the piece of wood you are using as the shoe of the saw is too thick. It robs the blade of its maximum cutting depth. I think you could have used a piece of 5mm thick acrylic just as successfully. Thanks for sharing.
Ahem!!! There are two simple ways to make this jig. One way is to fix the wood strip to the moving panel, and cut a groove in the main board to accommodate the strip. Do not use the narrow board. Another way is to fix the narrow board onto the wide board and do not cut a groove in the main board, or fix a strip to the sliding panel.
not bad, but you loose so much cutting depth by using a sole and a track that thick, all you can cut with it are sheet material, but then again that is mostly what you need a track saw for.
Perfect for small projects. Not got a lot of power so if the wood starts to flex it stops the saw pretty easy. Use it for small tasks and you will be happy. Safety system Works great ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c .lose your grip on the saw it shuts off and the sheath closes over exposed saw.

Great idea and so calming to watch. You have a special gift in teaching table saw safety by going slow and carefully planning all of your cuts. 👏

You should put a block of wood under the sled itself to help mitigate tear out, beyond that, awesome job. I’m definitely gonna make one of these!

Hi sir good video but what about 2mm saw blead you have to add 2 mm more all the time in cutting cut right size
Thta is a great job 👍👍👍
but the boards were a bit too thick wernt they, lose a fair bit of cutting room
Merci beaucoup pour la vidéo
Very nice work

hai j ilike your circular saw hehe...
Hello, Thanks for your share, can you give me dimension of your sled, I like to made one same as you
Amazing 👍👍👍
How many cm is the saw blade? How much wood can a machine cut on 2 floors?
Very nice. One question why do you need a guide fence on the jig if the saw carriage is riding in a Dado grove?
You are right. Actually the fence isn't needed for guiding. The fence was for making the jig stronger.
Thanks for watching sir.
Am I missing something? 3/4” of cutting depth sacrificed from the sled?
You are right.
Sorry about that. 12mm plywood is recommended.
@@j-woodworking9573 great video, I like the sled you made
The machine run in the channel, what is the point of the fence?

The best. Sorry that I'm 2 years late for this video.
Why would it need a fence if there is already a runner running on the slot?
저도 비오는 소리가 좋네요
Молодець
Nice ! You are sacrificing some cutting depth. How did you decide the thickness of the plates?
Good point. The thinner one is better as long as the jig is strong enough.
Thanks for watching sir.
Excelente le copiare su guia, gracias muy buen trabajo.

great idea just found.
Thanks for watching sir.
I didn't understand the purpose of the fence at the end of the build attached to the track. If the saw runs in the track, it shouldn't be able to move.
You are right. The fence isn't necessary. I intended to make it stronger.
Thanks for watching lady.
I think the fence definitely adds an extra stability to it.

You are definitely right. I intended to make it stronger but it became unnecessary.

Definitely a nice easy build. I have always wanted to make one now I will. Did you use 3/4 inch birch for the base?
Yes I did. I think 12mm plywood is enough.
Thanks again.
Very useful

WOW! All you need is £2000 worth of workshop equipment to do it!

Low tech rules.
If you have a professional table saw, and you use it to create it, why do you need a cutting guide for a disc saw? It's unnecessary! It's absurd!
You could use the cutting guide on building sites where there is no power source.
Festool became rich an famous with their tracksaws and guides.
it's often used for cutting 4*8' plywoods or any sheet goods more manageable size before you put it to the table saw.
