Just a little tip about using liquid masking fluid from a watercolor artist: Dip your brush in liquid soap coating the the bristles well, and then dipping it into the liquid mask. You will save your brushes from being destroyed. watercolor artists use soap all the time with liquid mask. Hope this helps you.
Any tips about applying it to figures that are smaller? Like 1/20 scale ? We're talking about figures less than 3 inches in height
@exodus2oo I've not used it on anything that small but don't see why you can't. Just be careful. Small brush
awesome tip, love this!! Thanks!
@@exodus2oo I don’t see why you couldn’t use it on tiny figures, but removing it is going to be the trick. You have to be careful enough not to break your little figurines. You could try to use the silicone nail tools to try to rub off the latex.
do you dip it straight in soap or soapy water? Does the type of liquid soap matter ( say like a name brand )?
I put it on thick and leave it for weeks without any problems but nothing is one size-fits-all in this hobby. Thanks for the video
Remember leaving it on for two days across the weekend on a face and it took me ages to get it off but you're right one size does not fit all 👍👍😁
I use silly putty for less detail areas. I wanted to share because your video has helped me very much. Thank you for taking time to make it. ❤
Fear gone! I bought a pair of glasses, they didn’t have red rimmed ones, so bought a gold chrome set. Thinking that I could paint them myself with a steady hand. I then discovered, (what will they think of next), liquid mask. I then got too scared to try it. I have found you (😊)….thank you! Testing on an old pair of sunglasses, awaiting the ‘clear’ signal to go ahead and paint the rims!
Ah glad it helped.. Good luck 👍👍👍😁
Use silicone brushes to apply. It peels right off.
liquid latex is the same thing and much cheaper by volume for all the poor people like me who spent all their money on kits
I found that massage in a tiny amount of dishwashing soap (like Dawn) to the brush bristles, when it’s time to clean up, the masking liquid will wash right out of the brush.
Thank you for the tip 👍👍👍
`thank you for the demo. i think im gonna get this rather than liquitex, it seems rubbery enough not to leave any traces and hard to peel residues. perhaps liquitex are more on paper artwork rather than models.
I think as long as you use it properly doesn't leave any mess behind at all just don't leave it on too long put let it set before you take it off just try a bit first
I get jagged edges with enamel paints when using this stuff
Nice and clearly explained; was wondering how best to use this stuff, which is what has held me back from buying it! Your quick and concise tutorial has spurred me on to purchase som! Liked 'n' subbed!
Just to let you know; the first Amazon lonk, for the Elegoo Saturn Printer, does not work, but the others do 👍
Thank you ...glad you found it helpful 👍
loved the title lol
Excellent tutorial, I'm going to use it to mask the clear parts of the models I'm building, I think it's perfect.
Ah should do just fine be interesting to know how you get on with it 👍
@@greedy3d480 This week I bought a liquid mask and since I had never used it, I looked for information on UA-cam, and the best information was youre video.
@@greedy3d480Of course
I’ve used it with good results on model railway cars that have window glazing already installed on cars requiring a different color or that need gloss or matte surface for decals.
Glad it helped
do you seal it with clear coat before using it?
Yeah I do - not completely necessary though , ive used it with no issues not sealing
White/Blue-Tag, easy to mold and easy to remove.
Yeah I've used this too, the question came up in one of the live streams that I did and thought I would answer it in a video but there's a quite a few ways you can mask off paint 👍
What’s it like when using over existing painted area’s. Does it also pull off the paint under it?
No it doesn't at all...
how long do you let the airbrush colour dry before you apply the liquid mask? Just to prevent the original colour from coming with it afterwards
I do think it depends on the paint
Just to make sure it's absolutely dry so if there are few hours
@@greedy3d480 acrylics, first layer after primer ...
Whats the best tool to apply this with?
I know you have to soap up the brush prior to using it or it ruins the brush.. ive seen others use a silicon like brush..
Just wondering if theres any great ideas out there to get the best lines and coverage.
Little silicon brush or a brush you don't mind throwing away... I use an old brush... Works fine
I made the mistake of using Microscale Micro Mask on Tamiya acrylic paint and the mask pulled the paint off. I sent the blue bottle to the landfill.
Does it matter if you apply it with a wet brush or does it need to be dry?
Dry is what I use
does it expires? because mine is more liquid than before also after shacking it and it seems it lost its properties as well...
im sure evrything has an expiry date
Great video, I just picked up some, looking forward to trying it out, but one question, what do you use to clean the brushes with? Thanks!
Plain old water 👍👍 thank you for the comment 😁
Hello, very nice video, does it work in wood too?
Yes it does
Great video! Do you recommend sealing the model before applying the mask?
yes, i did this to protect the work id done on sking tones
Would this liquid mask work on spray paint too?
Don't see why not
Can I use it on already paj Ted area's?
Painted , not paj Ted 😂
@@glennbarton3938 absolutely you can....
Thanks
Hello , small question ... ( noob in painting ) , I print in dual ( or more ) colors with my idex ... but the final print still needs some painting ( usually the eyes , the lips , and medium to small areas ...)
Painting without primer and the paint will penetrates the PLA by capillarity ...
But then how can I paint ( primer & color ) those areas , and keeping the sides as it it with the filament color , so I cannot put a primer everywhere before the masking , etc
Mask then prime maybe?
how can i clean the brushes, with water?
Warm soapy brushed as soon as you've finished
thanks :)
Hi I got a question I'm going to order a masking liquid I like to know which kind I'm asking liquid is works better with Mr color paint
I just use vallejo... Never had a prob
@@greedy3d480 so I can use it mr color paint with it
@@greedy3d480 so it works to with Mr color paint
Looked at the descriptions of various liquid masks but haven’t yet seen it answered; will this VALLEJO product mask against enamels??
Not 100% sure on that.... Don't see why not though .. Suggest you do a test..let me know 👍
Top!!!
Thank you
I guess you have to mask the face again to give the hair its final color?
mine get dry almos at the moment it touches de brsuh :(
I've not had this problem at all..???
I have a love/hate relationship with Vallejo liquid mask
Yeah I get that 🤣👍
VAllejo. It´s a spanish surname!
I did not know that thank you
where did you get the bust file from ?
It's a sanix model
