- UPDATE: I didn't know this at the time, but the game language needs to get set to English for this to work. Also, if you try this in Nolun Village and you get an item other than the broken dagger, remove everything except Gaffer's Buggy, than save and reset. The glitch should work after that.

i have pal version (french language) I tried to do it. it gave me an invisible thing that I can place only in items. I wanted to sell it, it was for more than 15000 but when I sell it, my game freezes :(
I didn't mention these in the video since I didn't know they were requirements at the time, but the glitch only works if the game language is set to English. If you still get a different item on English, try removing everything from Nolun Village except the store, then save, reset, and try the glitch again. Being near buildings or trees here is known to temporarily change the function of some glitch items, and that broken dagger happens to be one of them.

GUYS THIS GLITCH WORKS IN PAL VERSION BUT YOU CAN ONLY DO IT IN THE MORNING (DARK CLOUD MORNING) IF ANY OTHER TIME YOU WILL GET NEGATIVE :)

I know this is very old but I just played through Dark Cloud on the PS4 and you sir, are a godsend for this game. Thumbs up. Next I am playing through Dark Chronicle, wonder what you can offer me for that :'D
Check this guys other video about selling glitched loot. Goes over the process of resetting certain RNGs to change a variety of things. I'm still having trouble with a few of these PAL glitches but that video really helps to understand the process overall.
Quick rule- Don't access 'weapons' or 'companion' menues if you're trying to sell glitched items.
This works for me in every part of the game. If it doesn't work, try resetting the game, then do the broken dagger glitch immediately after loading the game. That usually works for me.

When I record with fraps, all the colors become inverted, which is why I don't use fraps to record pcsx2.

it has been 1 year since I've tried this glitch. now, that's the first time i got the dagger, and not an invisible thing.
This glitch works on the other versions of Dark Cloud as well.
what is the difference between teh broken dagger and the unbroken dagger ?
the PAL version for some people doesn't work as when the steps are followed the game freezes we would appreciate if you could help us out
don't work in my game, I try this glitch but i'm arrived at the moon sun temple, this glitch works only at start of the game? i have ungaga in my team

@pokemonfan4000 Oh, okay. I just got worried if it didn't work on my case, since the first time there was nothing then the second time there was freeze. If i find any unusual glitch items, i'll mention you.

That item is in my version as well its in the English us release that came out for ps4... There are 3 broken dagger glitches I have tried and tested in mine this one and the other one where big bucks is swapped out for the pour ability and another one with big bucks but it sends a bunch of stats into negative values
could you please share other Brocken dagger glitches? I tried this one, but it gives negative stats for any weapon I attach it to... I bought PS5 in Bulgaria
I started mesing arpund with this trick and I'm gettin a blank space but I cant take it as a normal item, when I set it to active items it frozes the game . Who knows the heck is it.
Hey! So I’ve managed to get the glitch to work with the Broken Dagger having positive stat numbers - however, when I attempt an upgrade, the game tells me “The weapon can’t be built up with that attachment” any tips? Thanks!
Edit: For those stuck at this point, the key is to equip the Broken Dagger [Positive Values] to the desired weapon, and then raise the Abs to MAX in a dungeon, then ‘Upgrade’ the weapon to affix the stats to the equipped weapon, then it can be successfully ‘Built Up’ into a new weapon. Then, rinse and repeat for each subsequent weapon evolution! Good luck!

It's called "Departure". It plays at the beginning of the game.
I can't do it!!! I've the pal version but my gaffer's store has very few things! Nothing ice nothing potion just bread, water and something else...
Matteo Dezzani I know your comment is four years old but if you're still interested, gaffer only has a few items because there is an order needed to complete the village. Before finishing the buggy you need to find Paige's house and her dad Pike because Pike fixes gaffers buggy for him. if you don't have Pike, gaffer tries to fix his buggy himself during the cutscene, falls, and injures himself. The injury is the reason he has limited stock.

Umm, do you have to have the Gaffer's Shop where Gaffer broke his back trying to fasten the sign? Or does it work either way?

@@jerimiahcuadrado7364 If I recall, there's no way to fix his back once it's broken, but you can avoid having his back break by adding Paige's House to town and Pike into the house before completing Gaffer's Buggy.

dude i found this out myself b4 watching this vid lol it doesnt work all the tym iv noticed if u change ur inventory in anyway an try this it wont work ul git an invisiblye item thats why i got 40 daggers also the other methods work but the daggers are all different and sometimes the game freezes, btw u no any other pal glitches any chance?
How do you do it in the Japanese version?
The broken dagger glitch isn't in the Japanese version, but there's an alternative. Open the game menu with Triangle then close it. Open any shop, place the cursor on row 11 column 1 of your weapon inventory, then press Left once, then Right & X at the same time to get a Wise Owl Sword. It will come with 3 invisible attachments. Remove the 2nd one from it and place it on the weapon you want, it will max out nearly every stat, but it will only increase fire and holy by 30, so you'll need 4 of these to max those out.
