    Couple of the nu-ounces on vaulters. If your going threw pirates you can cloak your ship as a Pirate.. they will not attack you going threw there system.., but 'tact' moment.. after the first 3 colonies where finish should of build the Portals.. -- teleportation troop transports :D Vaulters are very hard people to invade.. if a portal is built on each of the systems. You can take any ship and Drop 500 Troops down like stupidly fast. (there is a turn delay w/using the Portal.) ... (tact) don't bring them out into the fight if you don't plan to use them as a fighting unit. But i am happy i see your still doing these videos hopefully i will see you in competitive play sometime..

    Fun idea if you are playing single player: Try to find a unique planet in your starting area, even if it takes 2 or 3 turns to find one, then settle that system as your home. Restart if the RNG isn't in your favor. If you start with Tor, Sykagoja, Teonha, or Veil as your home system, you basically win the game... Or if it's something else, it may have a planet next to it that you can take, then rush the research for the planet type. It's a bit RNG dependant, and not something you would do in multiplayer unless you spot it, but it's super fun.

    So I just bought Endless Space 2, picked Vaulters, found a planet to settle on. Turns out the air they breathe makes them high, they are super happy all the time and just chill out.
    Since I'm basically Space Hippies now and angry pirates are in front of my door, maybe I should check out a guide.

    Very good. Thank you. Endless Space 2 is brand new to me and I thought I might try the Vaulters because I liked them so much in Endless Legend. I'm pretty sure the devs nerfed the number of turns for the Argosy since your guide, but the starting tips are very good regardless. Thanks again.

    I think the Vaulters are one of the best factions for newer players like me. I've never been able to win even in sandbox(LOL), but once I picked up the Vaulters, I found that even if I couldn't win normally the portals give an overwhelming advantage; having an enormous advantage as far as fleet management goes. I just built hundreds of incredibly cheap ships to overtake my enemies one-by-one.

    Also in my experience if you take the heroes T1 ability that farms strategic the timing is generally such that you will always be able to shave about 3 or 4 turns off your next colony even in the unlucky circumstance that you have zero deposits of T1 strategics on your starting system.

    I often find the planets at turn one with one of your main strategic resources AND a subterranean curiosity to be optimal to the point of imbalance because that certain subterranean curiosity always turns out to be the latter of the two resources you need for the vaulters.

    Great guide, I'm in love with the vaulters! FYI: Vikings never had horns on their helmets. This misrepresentation comes from the very popular german opera Ring of the Niebelungen, where they portrayed vikings with horns in their helmets, and has since then spread like a wildfire across the world, but is totally wrong. If you are interested in giving your ships good pagan names, look up 'The Pagan Name Database' on the web. Faering for example, means boat. Argosy means merchant vessel of the largest size, roughly translated (Vessel of Ragusa). :)

    These guides are no longer helpful as the developers have patched out a lot of these exploits. For example, the one where you refit a ship to refresh the stock of probes has been patched.

    • @thenoseplays2488
      @thenoseplays2488 4 роки тому +3

      The exploits may be gone, but the advice is still largely sound. I come back to these time and again even as a very experienced player because I love hearing how other people approach solving this games many tangled riddles on how to make the numbers go up faster.

      I was part of the beta program for this game... Back in these days, I found a science snowballing Sophons exploit, they patched it out kind quick :)
      (that wasn't an exploit, it was a way to "open" a game so that in 10-12 turns you were allready on top of everything on many aspects of the game).

    23:00 - actually you should have done the curiosities, then launched the rest of the probes to scout - and then refitted :) depending on preference you could have launched the governor probes too, then let it all regenerate while in transit to a new system. Or, leave the gov probes to have plenty as you arrive somewhere new.

  • @mooncorp212

    I'm back to this game, it's been patched to final version not so long ago.
    I'd love to see a 2021 refresh of your guides, because hacking is quite disturbing for "scattered / portal" vaulters civ (you can't protect from everywhere, so you can't cherry pick systems anymore).
    Portals are very fun to play. When AI drop a fleet on a decoy ship, you can't suddenly move a fleet when they are mid-air.
    Also, I'm thinking about toying with pirate allys / cloakships to see what happens.

  • @thenoseplays2488
    @thenoseplays2488 6 років тому +1

    4 developed systems with a 5th colony just dropped on turn 30 is amazing. I am not as familiar with the expansion rates of other empires, but that seems incredibly quick for a faction seemingly being pushed for a tall build.
    How do other factions generally fair by turn 30 in comparison from your experience and do you think it warrants toning down the Vaulters in future patches?
    I know the Vaulters expansion rate slows significantly as the costs get larger and larger and the golden ages tend to get shorter if you rush to colonize due to recharging rate on the GA slowing significantly from 2.4 down to 0.8 gained per turn.

  • @Macitar1
    @Macitar1 6 років тому

    Two questions about the strategy you used here: Why are you not pushing out farther and farther with scouts looking for near perfect expansion locations? The portals mean it doesn't matter where you live so im surprised to see you settling for neighbouring systems that you admit wont be that good? second: You don't seem to like portals at all, whys that? The mobility and science bonus you get on a vanilla portal is pretty had to pass up in my opinion, not to mention the other benefits portals get eventually. Sorry if you mentioned it in the video, i wasn't 100% focused all the way through

    • @thenoseplays2488
      @thenoseplays2488 6 років тому +2

      I too find privateer mode seems to make your ships "invisible" to the AI as they seem to over value positive relations with the pirates and especially on higher difficulties have tons of "cheat" resources to throw at them for non aggression pacts and pirate marks, which they nearly always do. This also means the AI wont clear pirate systems often or engage their fleets...and that means as Vaulters you have a massive network of free portals and the ability to scout unmolested by the entirety of your AI opponents.

  • @thenoseplays2488
    @thenoseplays2488 6 років тому

    I would like your thoughts on a detail about the opening quest I am considering. I always pick the one with the resource that I am likely to be short on. Because the rewards change but are predictable here is what I look at.
    #1 which T1 strategic is my bottleneck. In your case it is Hyperium and if the reward were Hyperium its a no brainer. You have plenty of Titanium sources so the reward for military is less impactful. Anything that requires it will be possible in time...not true of needing Hyperium atm.
    Second the science based quest always offers a cache of a luxury. I always look at my stating populations luxury boosters and if it pairs up with one I consider that quest assuming my strategic needs are met. Also consider if it may be a good T1 system development...but typically Valuters should always try and use Strategics for theirs.
    Finally I am curious how you feel the Vaulters population bonus at 50 pop changes the value of some military buildings. For example Budaki bunkers in T1 grant 300 manpower to your cap. But once you hit 50 Vaulter pop that same building assuming max manpower is also putting out essentially 30 science now too. The bonus gives you a science buff equal to 10% of your empires manpower. Seeding your systems with a few early defensive building may feel bad im the short term when you are not using them a ton...but mid game they can accelerate your science, and due to how fast Valuters can seemingly grow to 50 pop...it may be sooner than you think.

    man this was a frustrating endeavour. you've completely misunderstood the 2 core principles of the Vaulters mate. With the Vaulters and their portals, you don't want to just settle any nearby system, you want to send both Petrov in a three engine ship and the already very fast, crazy sensor range Argosy out to explore as much as possible to look for optimal systems, either for strategics, large 5 planet systems or uniques and only settle those and use your portals to keep your empire safe. If you find one of the unique planets with influence boosts, you can easily gobble up every minor faction you meet for general growth, and use the argosy to settle the best possible systems. you also want to be friendly with the pirates as your buccaneers trait grant you the option to force cease fire with them, AND if you are cordial+ you can use any pirate system as a portal.

    "Oh...manpower... what a whoopie -do statistic." He says until he realizes that at 50 vaulter pop he gets 10% science for FREE PER 1 Manpower. As the vaulters, unfallen and cravers you get the highest base extra capacity of manpower in the game without getting minors involved...of which you have tikanan. Your late game science is going to put sophons to shame and yet you gloss over it.

  • @Finwaell
    @Finwaell 4 роки тому

    I am so sorry to be that guy, I like your vids, but this was.. well mediocre at best. And not because of the rng... vaulters are definitely a wide civ, not tall. The no outpost thing is good precisely because they are really bad with food, unless you use strategics for development which you didn't. You didn't even make an effort to go after the strategics a you should have.. by turn 30, you should have like 10 colonies at least around 200 of both titanium and hyperium stockpiled and already getting in antimatter. You should have prioritised hyperium exploration modules *speed/better probes) and send out scouts to explore as much as possible, not sit in your little corner there. You can't invade planets with scouts as you found out by the end of the vid :D just wasted resources, you should just build your attack ships asap. Also military buildings for vaulters are crazy good, because their pop collection bonus gives you science per manpower.. which brings me to your science being really low. It may have seen like a good start but with your choices you would just stagnate and be left behind. On huge and larger galaxies you want to get your scouts to the middle where all the minor civs are, pump influence into them and assimilate them all. Use the ships you get from them to attack those that already have a different sovereign. build portals! portals are the strongest thing about vaulters. I don't know how you did it, but your dust output was really sad... overall.. you took them and played them more or less as twisted ue, which is well.. doable, but you didn't play into their strengths at all. :/
