Since I purchased my 21' manual bagger I have wanted to slightly raise the shift lever but never looked into it till I watched this video. Raised it about an inch and it makes a big difference.....thank you Max from a new subscriber!
Another great tip! Didn’t realize this simple fix allows me to wear my boots! As delivered, didn’t have enough room to let the shifter detent operate with my riding boots on.
Max, the treason I follow you is, I learn a lot about the GW even tho I ride a Harley (I may get a GW) you explain the short comings of the Honda and I don't feel stupid. I started riding with a Honda in 1969 and I love all motorcycles , I just love Harleys right now. Again, you are Da Man...
I raised mine up after installing Goldstrike mini boards. Lots of people don't know the height can be adjusted. Good tutorial. Looking forward to the heel toe shifter!
Thanks Max! appreciate the tip. I adjusted my 2018 up about 3/8" after my Sidi riding boot wasn't getting under it as easily as some other boots I've been using for the last 2 years perfectly fine in the stock configuration. Perfect timing for me. Happened yesterday, first time wearing them on the Wing after digging them out of winter storage. LOL. Test ride and problem solved. You are the man!
Thank you Max for this instructive lesson. I have SIDI Adventures 2 Gore-Tex and they are quite high in the front. Bless you from Sweden where we have a nice spring and start of the motorcycle season.
Thank you so much. I bought riding boots but they are too thick to get under the shifter (I don’t have floorboards). I bet NOW I can adjust the shifter to make it work. ~Thankful Las Vegas GW rider. 👏👏
i'm confused. At 3:17 to 3:30 in the video you explain that to LOOSEN the nuts on each end of the shifter rod you pull the wrench UP. Yet at 6:05 in the video, after making the proper height adjustment, you TIGHTENED the nut on the front end by turning the nut UP. Please explain. Great video but I want to get the thread patterns right.
The rear fitting on the shifter is normal right hand. The joint on the shift shaft is left hand (Reverse). Sorry if I did something confusing in the video.
@@Traxxion Max, I am still confused. I understand what you are saying but if you looked at the front nut on the shift rod from the rear of the motorcycle and you loosened the nut by turning it clockwise (moving the wrench upwards as indicated in 3:17 to 3:30 in the video), then to tighten the same nut you would have to turn it counterclockwise (moving the wrench DOWN). At 6:05 in the video you tightened the nut by moving the wrench UP (clockwise), in the same direction you moved it to loosen it earlier. ??? Maybe I will have to take a good look at the threads on the shift rod at the front. Love your videos!
When will the heel tow shifter be out? I will be the first one to buy it!!! Everything I have purchased from you and or watched and applied has worked perfectly.
Is there any reason not to simply remove the bolt on the shift shaft, slide the piece off, rotate slightly (to raise the shift lever) put back on and attach the bolt? I did that today in less time than it took to watch your vid. It seemed like a simple fix, but now you've got me thinking your way might be better?
I wish your videographer would have shown how much movement you accomplished with the pedal as you were spinning the shaft. Nonetheless, thanks for the help. I just put footboards on that I have to tilt a good deal to get the toe under the pedal.
Those #%## Japanese put a yellow locktite on both threads of the rod. It took me 5 minutes and a mini pipe on the 10 mm wrench to break the rear lock nut loose. Because of the tight space on the front locknut, I failed to break it loose. I'm out of luck. I have a really hard time getting my boot under the shifter since it is below the footrest. At my next service, I'll have a tech do the impossibe.
Just remove the shift lever assembly and work on it on a workbench if it's stuck. There's no loctite, yours may be corroded from weather or something. Take the arm off of the shift shaft, and pull the big pivot bolt and slide the whole assembly out towards the back of the bike.

Very useful. I am salivating at the thought of your new shift lever. Won’t be soon enough
I promise it's progressing!

You will be mad when you see how easy it is to make it fit your boot! HAHA!

I’ll be a “happy” mad. Ha Ha. Thank you again!!
Knew about the rear brake pedal adjustment not the shift lever. Thanks for the information. 🚗.mini
Glad to help!
Just bought a 2023 and my only complaint is that I can't get my foot under the shifter. I will adjust this today. Thank you for the video.
We make a REALLY nice heel-toe shifter that is a complete redesign and relocation of the stock shifter. People LOVE it.
I really need that new heel toe shifter.
It's time to get that thing on the machines!

@@michaellynch2559 Must just be an optical illusion. The rear joint is right hand threads, and the front one is left hand. No doubt about it.

I have it "Done", but we don't have space on machines to make it yet. Soon, though...
@@Traxxion please let me know when it’s ready!!!
Excellent thats what I needed thanks
hi i noticed the you loosen the front lock nut going upward but at the end of the video you tightened the same lock nut going upward again?!!

That can work, but the change is big per one tooth. You can adjust the height precisely with the rod.
Thanks for the video. Does anyone make a longer shifter?
I am very close to having an adjustable heel-toe shifter. A few months away.

It's quite a bit, I'm sure you'll be able to find a setting you like!
Any fix to find neutral. . 2018 manual wing
I have not heard of this problem before.
Today I asked Honda dealer to adjust The shifter lever tell me it’s not adjustable !!
Now you know the truth!
