    Nothing will beat a tajima

    I’m glad I no longer have use for chalk lines. Normally can get by with using a laser. But good honest review

      I don’t use one near as often as I used to… usually only when cutting big sheets of drywall (if I can’t just use my measuring tape and knife)

      I dislike wasting too much material and often on a job with expensive plywood or paneling that's painted(aka alot of labor into it) I use chalk lines to set up cut lines for my workers so if it's off I'm to blame especially if it's an skew angled cut for uneven floors.

    I think of chalk boxes like metal workers use a seprate angle grinder with unique blades on each. At what point does messing with a cheap item with expensive labor warrant having multiple of the same thing. There's time multi tools aren't the answer. One thing with tajimas as well they sell all the replacement parts for all the models your never left with something that can't be fixed as opposed to trash.

    Looks like Klein may have put out a flop . Seems really bulky I'll wait for your update review. I got a Milwaukee and tajima the work well . But I recently bought a crescent chalk line it's really small 50 ft line. And it fits really well in my tool belt . More compact than my others. I find my self reaching fo itr more often now. Thanks Morgan

      This one was much bigger than I expected. I don’t believe it’s something I will reach for purposely. I bought a small Dewalt one at Home Depot a few months ago… I really like it for its size to fit in a pouch.

    Changable color trays are great idea, now i have 3 different chalk lines-each with different color. But this one is not convincing me enough 😅

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  6 місяців тому +1

      If you only changed them when they were empty… still not mess free IMO.. but it wouldn’t be as messy. But that doesn’t help for changing colors when they aren’t empty..
      I’m not sure how long the Auto Reel will last either.. I don’t have high hopes.

    On roof lines when I'm solo I use tajima CR101S-0 and its $30 as well. I tend to stick with brands I know make quality stuff. It's not perfect but saves me walking roofs to collect a snagged chalk line. If I feel I don't need the auto rewind I tend to favor a tajima box like your very reliable. On the color front I have 3 tajimas red one has red dye blue has blue and black has black permanent dye. This makes it clear to anyone using them what it is and the black one has a warning sticker on it saying "Better mean it! Permanent dye!". Hope this helps if i was you I'd return that and but the tajima always buy the gold standard 👍.

      I believe I am going to send it back… yeah the Tajima has been the better of the ones I’ve used.
      This was more of a curious buy, and I thought some of you all might want to know if it was any good.

      I haven't had a auto retractable onecthay is perfect Irwin and komelon in the past all share some of rhe same issues. The tajima seems to be the best om gonna get with the retractable feature. The size and non 💯 reliability is only worth it if you NEED it 90% of rhe time I'll stay hand crank.

      Yeah the sticking is no good. I can see it being “mess free” if your chalk box was empty I guess… but still won’t be “mess free”. Definitely not during color change.
      I feel like squirting chalk in a hole is less messy than changing those… but maybe it’s just me 🤷‍♂️

    I think the innovation is cool but I liked it better when companies stayed in their lane. I would rather buy the best tools that I can get or that I like rather than my tools all being red, yellow, or whatever.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  5 місяців тому

      True… some companies are better at making certain tools. Often times they try their hand at what the competition makes, but the companies that have made those tools for years usually have worked out some kinks 👍

    That is quite a bulky unit in comparison to others. Probably easier to have two separate chalk lines if you need both colours on a regular basis. Can't win them all I guess.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  6 місяців тому

      That is my thought. Even if the chalk was empty, there will still be residual to where I don’t think it would be less mess than squirting chalk in the hole.
      The auto retract would be nice, but I have my doubts with first impression that it will continue to work long term.

    I honestly thought it would smack in you the face at least once. Wasn't rooting for it, I'm glad it didn't happen but I expected it to 😂

    • @MORGANSMaintenance

      The retraction is a bit weird… it goes fast/slow…not real consistent.
      A smack in the face may help with views 😂

    Disposable plastic container for chalk should be banned. Refillable one is ok.
    That fiber/gasket will wear out after a week and all the chalk will jam the retracting mechanism.
    I find some analogy to corded vacuum cleaners and retractable power cords. Home use units have retractable power cords, while pro vacuum cleaners don't have one. Such a feature would fail after a day on a worksite, jammed with dust.
    I don't understand that urge to complicate simple yet ingenious tools. Battery operated tape measure, retractable chalk-line, laser-assisted laser guided hand saw...

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  6 місяців тому +1

      At times they do often over complicate something that isn’t a problem.
      This was a curious purchase for me.. and me taking one for the team to be the Guinea Pig. I don’t see this being a Day In/Day Out chalk line.

      @@MORGANSMaintenanceLooks more like some DIY tool for someone using it twice a year.
      Your Tajima is a pro tool. I still use some all-plastic Stanley chalk line that I bought 20 years ago :)

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  6 місяців тому +1

      @@Stefan_Kawalec I use the Tajima the most, but I also have an older Stanley and a small Dewalt one (likely made by Stanley) that I bought just for drywall. Fits in my pouch easier.
