I have hung a Magmat Mini on most of my bags to catch screws like this. The Tech MCT Blackout also has a magnet built into the rear flap. If I wanted to attach other magnets, I have an unfair advantage. My wife is skilled in a variety of what I respectfully refer to as the feminine arts, sewing being one of them. I would get a package of rare earth magnets of the size and strength I wanted, measure out a sleeve or other way to hold them, then ask my wife to make it for me. She'd probably make two: one for her bag as well, since she is also a tool-user.
Ordered the folding double sided version that I sent you the link for I had to try it out for myself. And it's made in usa too which I like 👍. The platinum vinal wrap ones even though there's 2 of the folding mats in that package 50 dollars is getting up there for a experiment. Thanks for running with the idea!
use bulldog clips to attach the magnet mat to the rear flap of the first bag. it will hold, won't block the velcro, and bulldog clips are one of those things that are useful to have handy.
I use the 81mm magnets from harbor freight, put them in the inner compartment and they hold. I also put them on the inside of metal tool boxes and you can stick things to the outside of the box.
I saw the same thing on the video you were pointing out and liked the idea myself. I feel like everything I see you see and comment on too! Jinx! I had a idea from that video and it may help on the back of the sbld you can use some strong plastic edging frp channel or the stuff on hardboard? Take your mat and mount it on the outside using that channel to hold it onto the outside. The obvious thing would be to velcro on the sbld and back of the mat but unless it was a desolvable glue it would damage the fabric. Idea 3 us to take thin metal thicker than roofing flashing thinner than angle iron fold it over and cut out the velcro part. That would give a full metal sheet to put that mat on. That's 3 or 4 ideas with my other comment for you to ponder.
Yeah, I saw that too. HVAC Knights on Thursday nights is rather entertaining, and Curtis on HVAC Guy does very good explanations of what he is doing to diagnose and fix a system as he works. Curtis uses an open top Veto bag now himself, after using a Tech MCT for a while.
@onusbones I saw your comments on thoes videos you defently share a common interest. I've seen many a klein wrist strap magnets around backpack straps and it's not necessary a new idea but a noteworthy one to thoes who haven't seen it yet.
@MM I was just attempting the same thing on my Veto Tech Pac with a Railer MagMat Strap. Try some rare earth/neodymium magnets on the underside of the flap, and put the Railer MagMat Strap on the top side of the flap. The rare earth magnets should hold the strap in place on the outside of the flap. Railer also has their MagMat Tray, which collapses flat, and may fit in the front pocket of your bag.
@MORGANSMaintenance If you try using the MagMat Strap, I noticed the north/south poles on the strap alternate, so 0.75-1.25” x ~0.125” disc magnets worked best, instead of long rectangular magnets. These would probably work: 0.79” - Strong Neodymium Magnets, Rare Earth Magnets for Crafts, Heavy Duty Magnets, Round Magnets, Small Magnets, 0.79 x 0.12 Inch, 16 PCS 1.25” - Neosmuk Rare Earth Magnets, Super Strong Magnet Heavy Duty for Craft, Neodymium Magnets with Adhesive Backing for Board, Thin Powerful Large and Industrial Magnets Stick for Cabinet, Refrigerator LOVIMAG Super Strong Neodymium Disc Magnets, Powerful Rare Earth Magnets with Double-Sided Adhesive for Fridge, DIY, Building, Scientific, Craft, and Office Magnets - 1.26 inch x 1/8 inch, Pack of 12
I use to put silly strong picket magnets that are ussaly used to sweep the ground of metal in my veto xl and tech mct small pockets in the front. Though it's not full coverage it actually stuck through the fabric. The metal round ones with the center hole are the ones I'm talking about. It does add some serous weight especially if you do 2 side by side in that parts bag. But it does work no mods even veto did that on a few bags themselves.
There's a sunex sxmagmat that's roughly 32 dollars after coupon tha5 says 40lb rating. They show it holding a brake rotor it may be strong enough on az.
Through fabric not likely. And every magnet rating I assume it's half of that after real world conditions. I did get the comical nature of your comment 👍 😆
@@MORGANSMaintenance yeah the Klein wrist strap is amazing but I don’t think it’s long enough for what you need. Check out that Sunex magnetic pad not the cheapest but super strong magnet
I wouldn't say the klein has amazing magnets probably better than that one you bought. Since Newman has the sunex mat maybe you wouldn't mind testing it in the back part of sbld if it would be strong enough to hold screws through the fabric.
Kleins magnetic wristband might be stronger. But the one you have seems to be alright. I like to slap a magmaster on the tape holders. Great video, as always
Good idea even if it's not the area coverage he's looking for. Love adding 70+ dollars of magmasters to the outside flap of a bag that cost a little more. The things we will do for customisation and that little edge. Off topic what do you drive to get 40mpg? A hybrid?
@MattHmm-rq6dn a chevy cruze. It gets me like 37, daily and I can get up to 42-44 highway. It's a nice little car. Great trunk space. Spacious w all the bells and whistles. I'm gonna upgrade soon, I think.
Can you hold the mat on the outside of the SB-LD pouch using another magnetic mat on the inside? You can get strong rare earth magnets and mount them to a board to slide in as another option, probably going to get expensive though and not as convenient as buying off the shelf.
I just realised why I'm not using any bags. In our jobsite conditions they would get dirty and dusty extremely fast. I'm always a bit worried when there's too many strong magnets around - too many electronics everywhere.
If I worked on Jobsite conditions all the time I probably wouldn’t carry one of these type in often. It is way too hard to thoroughly clean them. I’d have to have a “beater” bag or box. I don’t take my bag in a lot of times on big jobs, mostly service calls or specific work within a project and I’m the only one there
Hey thanks man 👊🏽 now how didn't I realize that's a perfect place for a patch 😂 I'm adding one right now
