I know no one cares but as a Peruvian I adore this dog so much.
Aww, I care.
I love them too
I care buddy...
I absolutely love them 😍
I care too!
This dog has that ancient look
Because he is.
Xolo dogs are Ancient
because it is
@@tonytyt5794 ?
@@tonytyt5794 it's not a Xolo is a Viringo raised in South America, Perú by Andean cultures.
awwww, the look on his face while getting his skin oiled..
Yes they love to be massaged with orchid essential oils.
Beautiful in their own weird way. At least ticks can't hide. ;D
That's true 🤔😁
Kasonas or fleas and just think no hair all over the place lol but I would worry wouldn’t they get cold!!
ticks get inside the ears
@@helenbrown1417 After someone stole my wolf I'd still find an occasional hair somewhere in the house.
@@returntonature8773 I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope somehow, some way you get him back.
This dog isn't strange or cute!
It's absolutely, incredibly amazing!!
The official name is Perro sin pelo dél peru and the sizes everywhere else is pequeno, medio and grande. They are very rare as a breed and they say that there are only like 2000 in the world.
And the reason that they are the same as they were in the Inca period is that because they are Peru's national treasure, there are special rules for breeding them. One is that they should be preserved as they were. So you are not allowed to focus breeding on any special trait (like hunting)/colour. You should breed based on health and mentality.
They and the Xolo's are originated from the same ancestor so that is why there is so many similarity's.
You are correct in saying that they are very sensitive dogs, so you need to train them with positivity. They are extremely intelligent and great jumpers. They are a bit more challenging than some other breeds because of it being a primitive dog breed. Due to the breed not being specialized in anything but guarding, you can train agillity, freestyle, tracking, rally obedience ect. It all depends on the dog and what they like. Here in Sweden we have Peruvians who have become champions in agillity, wild tracking and rally obedience.
Seamus is an excellent example of his breed and are very beautiful!
I live in Sweden and are owner to two of these amazing dogs myself! One pequeno who is 6 years old and one grande who is 1 year old.
Loved your reportage about the breed! :)
Lol I have 8 peruvian
Even though they are called peruvian inca orchid, they are actually Moche, not inca
Name = viringo
As a proud owner of medio (48,5 cm) named Aziel from Russia, Saint-Petersburg, agree with almost everything you wrote. But! I think people need to know why there only about 2-3 thousands dogs. About how this breed became almost extinct in 1980. Belived to be strange ill mongrel. And saved thanks to Jack Walklin and Fred Drew.
Actually here in Peru is pretty common to see them in the streets or in adoption because not many people wants them due to their “not so attractive looks” but i find them really cute
Los perritos calatos.....🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪super lindos
Seamus just loves being pampered doesn't he. Handsome fella.
That pupper looks like he is on cloud 9 with them petting him, lol, so cool!
He is luxurious and regal.
One of my top favorite dogs, with the Xolo and Chihuahua.
With you on that
That bit about them wandering in caves with orchids made me tear up 🥺 Such beautiful, precious, gentle souls 🥺🥺🥺
Strange and cute, loyal and obedient that's what I would describe this dog..He looks similar to the Xolo dog but there's a difference in the texture of their skin as Anneka rightly said . It's great to see ancient dogs on Animal watch . Thanks Anneka for this episode
Xoloitzcuintle yes
They probably have the same ancestors as xolos, as they look almost identical. I love xolos so I'm going to love this dog breed. I think that their look, genes, and culture is just so amazing. I love that their breed is basically untouched from humans and evolved independently. Seriously, I love these guys.
Actually the Peruvian dog went extinct centuries ago, they were related to xolos. This so called "orchid dogs" (that sound not very Incan) is nothing but a Xolo. They were reintroduced to Peru by bringing xolos from Mexico.
@@ernesttorres4059 peruvian breed haven't gone extincted.
@@ernesttorres4059 It doesn't matter if one race is better than the other, we are talking about antiquity and history since 300 b.c and they're cultural heritage from peru , and their race did not become extinct... only today they are the history of their ancestors.
@@ernesttorres4059 wtf who brought xolos from mexico lol?
@@ernesttorres4059 They are not "incan" dogs, they are thousands of years old and the Inca only started to exist in the 1350s
They look so majestic, like the dog version of a Sphynx cat :)
Anubis
@@johnongolla6042 Oh, I knew there was something familiar...!
Hello I am Peruvian living in London and have a Peruvian Hairless Dog brought from Lima on January 2023.
This handsome specimen is called Anubis.
I have three of these dogs...they are the most amazing breed...they used to be kept by kings as heaters in their beds...royalty. Fiercely loyal, highly highly intelligent, agile and extremely quick. They were almost wiped out because the Spanish though they were demons.
Where do you live?
There very unique but still look cute
EL PERRO PERUANO SIN PELO or Peruvian hairless dog. These dogs´ temperature is higher than the average in dogs. That´s the reason why they don´t need hair to live well even in cold weather places or regions. Because these dogs don´t have hair they don´t carry fleas or ticks being extremely clean animals, clean enough to be aloud to get into some hospitals where they even lay on some patient´s side on the bed. There are not few doctors who prescribe the tenance of Peruvian hairless dogs to cure or relief some rheumatological illnesess, asma and other respiratory problems and depression or similar psicological problems. Among Peruvians and indian communities, the only presence of one near you or at home helps to armonize you with good vibrations and brings peace, health and prosperity. Thanks so much Anneka for your outstanding work with dogs and specially for this video about our beloved Peruvian hairless dog. In one of our native languages (in fact the aboriginal language most spoken in this whole continent we call America) let me say you: ANIAYCHALLAYKIM = Thank you very much. Warm greetings from Lima, Perú.
I love the one with the lil orange mohawk & tail poof!
Proud to be Peruvian Inca 🇵🇪
Y vivir en perukistan
Huh, I had a pharaoh hound as a kid and I’ve seen these before but I never really thought how similar they looked, and I’ll admit that before I watched I thought it was a xoloitzcuintli 🤷🏻♀️
I’d love to meet a Peruvian Inca orchid dog, like any dog they seem very loving and lovable ❤️
I would have named him Anubus. 😍🐶
Tabatha Feucht Don't they kind of look like a Pharoah hound ?

I love it!! No sweeping for hair, external parasites can’t hide!! Perfect for our hot climate!! I can’t think of any other amazing dog!! 🤩
Another Amazing and Interesting Breed of Dog I've never heard with such a Magnificent History, ...and the fact YOU Always seem to find that one person in the UK who has one is a testament to the Excellence of this channel Anneka!!! , you and your crew are always the BEST at Educating on what breed you present on each video :)
Thank you so much for those kind words 😊😁🐶🐕🐩🐺🦊
Such beautiful breeds so many we haven't heard of. Loved the episode ❤
Oh man I remember meeting one when I went to a museum when I was a kid and lived in Peru. The dog had a little bit of blonde hair on his head and was so friendly to us kids. Amazing little dog! I honestly have not seen them around the city of Lima when I've lived there and years later visiting again. But if I find one next time I go there, you bet I'll one or two, probably male and female to give each other company; along with some Huskies I'm dying to get! Amazing report!!
Beautiful animal, thank you and thanks to the owners for allowing us all to learn more about Séamus!
Instead of spending hours a week brushing and searching for ticks from my double-coated dog I would instead spend it on online shopping for dog clothes... Hmm, doesn't sound too bad! Oh, and of course oiling him up!
And Seamus is really beautiful too. I love his sharp ears and his beautiful eyes! He looks very mystical.
Thank you very much for spreading this video.
Congratulations and thanks for taking care of this unique breed of dogs in the world.
Many best regards from Lima Peru to all of you.

He's a strangely beautiful boy!
His eyes are like my GSD Amber's eyes.

Beautiful dog! Amazing!
What a beautiful doggo. I love this channel so much!

The one I met at Machu Picchu had a blonde mohawk, weird species!

They have a very majestic ancient look.. similar to the Egyptian Anubis..
Beautiful and noble looking.
Your Peruvian Hairless Dog. Is a gorgeous dog. I love the copper color he is. Congratulations on owning him.
They have eyes of gold ✨️
Great to see the training being done : ) Well done. Thanks Anneka : )
Absolutely stunning dog
Rarer than the dog xolo but equally beautiful! 😯💟
They are the same. The original Peruvian dog went extinct when Europeans came to America, so they brought xolos from Mexico and mixed them with other breeds to create this kind of dog. They don't even have an ancient name like the xolos do.
@@jasonrazojazo Thanks! I didn't know.👍🐕
What a beautiful dog.
Es un perro muy hermoso. Parece una esfinge egipcia, además.
I live in Norfolk, UK and there’s a man with 3 PIO’s here. Two copper coloured and one black.
I would love to see the *segugio* *italiano* next! All i can find on youtube is just hunting videos and poorly treated animals... since i have one myself it would be great to learn more about them!

Absolutely gorgeous dog! 🥰🥰🥰
They're so cute!
What a beautiful boy!
Excelente video, muy didáctico , muchas gracias por difundir nuestro "PERRO PERUANO SIN PELO",un saludo fraternal desde el Perú, el país del Imperio del Sol.
I love the old breeds. So beautiful and for lack of a better term, canid. Pariah dogs in particular are a passion of mine. Like the often forgotten Carolina Dog. Also, he kind of looks like a hairless Doberman.
Que hermoso perrito peruano bello! Y muy interesante para las personas alergicas!

What a sweetheart
Beautiful dog and a beautiful lady too🤗 we love doggies!🤗🐾🐕

Beautiful dog 🤩
This was so informative. I am about to get a pequeno. I'm so excited. I'm meeting chiquito in 2 weeks and bringing home mid March. So fricking xcited! I was looking for a little love bug and apparently this is it !
It's so amazing to see a well breed peruvian, amazing head, good body, fine taile and ears. Tho the eyes are to bright . I'm looking for a similar female here in Sweden so I can start my kennel. I currently have 4 Peruvians
Some more suggestions/requests for doing ancient and primitive dog breeds, could you do the Indian Pariah Dog and the Carolina dog? Love your videos!
Yes they are on my list. Thankyou for the suggestions 👍

Awwww so adorable
Such an ancient breed of dog. His lineage is strong and actually very healthy most likely due to millennia or low cross breeding and healthy genetic diversity among the breed itself.
Such a beautiful dog.
Such a beautiful dog, it would be a dream to have one.
I was so excited to see his little bro was a Chinese crested! I have cresteds and I am looking into a dog that can get along with them. It is nice to see they can.

I have one pio puppy. Perfect cuddle dog like a hot bottle water in the cold weather ❤️❤️❤️
‘He almost jumped off the ground’. He did jump off the ground 😅
A very unique and beautiful breed Peruvian hairless dog
Strange AND cute. That’s what I’d call them.
He's lovely! Personality wise, he reminds me of my Vizsla, Lucky. This breed is now on my shortlist of breeds for my next dog.
Super ❤
They’re gorgeous
What a baby
Why would the Spanish try to wipe out this dog. Pure evil
They just removed their protective status
Probably the same reason the Spanish tried to wipe out the native people, and destroyed the Aztec city and building Mexico City over top of it.
TheStar Damien Jajjaja ignorant
It’s a lie, the Spaniard did not try to wipe out this dog.
Make absolutely no sense, why waste time and ammunition killing hairless dogs?
Carlo Ayala they did, they thought they were diseased because they were hairless
Such elegance with an unusual regalness . So, unique, like the Egyptian Hairless Cat. 🙏🌈💖👍
Reminds me of anibus..... Your always great ...
Anibus???you mean Anubis???
The Peruvian Hairless is a little strange and not very attractive but I was fascinated. It would seem that a tooth-challenged dog would be unlikely to survive in the wild. People and dogs find a way to make it work. Now that's sustainable living. Thanks to the lovely, talented and charming Anneka.
They have fewer teeth, but the quality is the same as any other dogs. So they can chew bones and eat hard food just fine! (: The hairlessness worked very well in hot peru and they love to be out in the sun.
@@Sairjya Makes sense I suppose. At this stage of life I too have fewer teeth but eat hard food just fine:) Thank you.
