This case is tragic, these rides should have weight limits!!! The child was way to big for that ride! Watching the video it's clear that poor kid did NOT fit into the seat appropriately. He shouldn't have been allowed to ride. People don't understand that body fat can shift!! The safety harness or bar might appear to be tightly fitted to the rider at the start of the ride but as soon as the ride makes fast or hard jerking motions, a person's body fat can move allowing room for them to slip out of the seat. I've watched several videos of overweight people almost falling from Rollercoasters because of this issue. It's very sad, these rides should have weight limits!! The boys protruding belly prevented the safety harness from being tightly fitted to the boys chest and shoulders. This ride had a built in safety precautions, the ride can not start unless all harnesses are in the locked position.. the problem here was the safety harness was locked in place but it was locked up against his belly not his body, leaving his upper body completely unsecured. The rides jerking motion allowed his belly fat to shift, and because his upper body was unsecured he fell...
These rides are nor designed to fit every possible body type! Some overweight people have big protruding bellies and smaller arms, legs, and waistlines.. while other overweight people are more proportionate. The park is at fault for allowing the child to ride when it was obvious he didn't fit appropriately.

Your post is presumptuous and needs remediation. How does Tyre Sampson's weight and him "knowing" the consequences exempt the operators from negligence?
This is similar to me providing you a service, but I expect for you to know the outcome of my operation as a waiver to exempt my culpable actions.
      Make it make sense!!!

@@doctorwilliams787they would have made it a "size thing" if they would have denied him service. He shopped around the park for a ride that could support his massive size. He was denied entry to multiple rides at the park due to his "size". Children aren't supposed to weigh 350 lbs, do you not understand that's not healthy irregardless of anything? There's a difference between a ride failing and someone being over the weight limit. Jeez use some common sense wake up.

You sound delusional and desperate to make a statement. How does the "size thing" of a rider relinquish the policy and practice of an operator?
In fact, does the refusal of Tyre Sampson to ride other attractions justify the "adjustments" made to the "Freefall" by the operators?
Why were the inspired "weight" requirements not posted to inform riders and reinforce professional standards by the operators?
Explain why those same "operators" questioned their own accountability prior to the ride ascending?
Personally, your logic is feeble-minded and needs revision. Overall, if I allowed you to drive a car knowing that the brakes are not secured, does it mean that I'm exempt from any damages, even though you thought the car was safe?

You have to understand a few things about amusement park/county fair rides (speaking from experience on county fair rides)
    1. They don't vet their workers. My dad volunteered at a county fair ride for my sister's band fundraising and he was barely given any training on how to operate the ride, how long the ride should last, and who qualifies for the ride.
    2. I went to my local county fair last August in 2021. I was 24 at the time (25 now) and I did not feel safe on any of those rides. Half of the ride operators seemed under the influence of Marijuana, cigarettes, etc. They did not look even remotely interested about everyone's safety. It's kind of one of those jobs where everyone's eyes glaze over.
    3. When each ride only has 1 ride operator they don't have time to discern who does or does not qualify to participate based on height and weight requirements. Oftentimes it was a moshpit of kids getting in the seats and overtaking judgment if the ride operator.
At the time I was with my friends having a good time but this story really made me evaluate the risk to reward of going on those rides. Now I wouldn't go on those rides ever again. I'm single with no kids but I caution parents out there to exercise sound judgement when taking your kids to one of these parks. Prayers for this young man and his family so sad.

Some are wanting to put the blame on the person operating the ride at that time concluding he should have never let the young man participate in the ride.
Stop and think a minute if he had how long do you think it would take for black people to gather and scream prejudice against the man operating the ride. They scream he was not allowed to ride because he was a big black Boy. That's how they would view PREJUDICE IF HE WAS NOT Permitted to ride the ride. There probably would have alot of blacks gathering rioting and screaming black Lives Matter!!! If he was told he couldnt ride the ride. The operator would probably had threats to his and his family's lives if the mob hadn't already beaten him within a inch of his life being called a prejudice CRACKER AMONG OTHER NAMES. IN TWO YEARS HE WILL BE TURN LOOSE TO DRIVE A CAR DOES HE GET TO SUE THE CAR FACTORY IF HE MAKES A BAD CHOICE AND HAS A AUTOMOBILE. ACCIDENT.!!!!

I do not trust the safety of amusement parks since I experienced two occasions of negligence, once with myself as a teenager on a roller coaster and a second time with my young daughter who was on a Ferris wheel. The roller coaster was not equipped with belts, but rather with a bar, to hold the occupant inside the cabin and the Ferris wheel bar was not properly closed by the attendant and opened while many feet up. Both situations could have surely resulted in the death of the occupant.

Soooo sad this keeps me up at night. I REFUSED to watch the video. That poor baby was 14. He was a child. So the comments about it was his fault too is a bunch of BS. THE t6ide operators failed him. That baby knew his life was ending. He kept asking if the harness should be that loose, it was rigged to fit him, but it still was not enough, by the time the ride started descending that damn thing was more than 11 inches from his body . He passed out and had no idea what was happening. My lord. This upsets my stomach.

Please stop the monetization of this child. The young man was simply too big. He was a 370lb, 6'4" 14yr old. There is a precedent across the country of morbidly obese people falling off rides. He was unsafe because he was too big. The harness was adjusted because he was too big. It's galling that they would try to change this narrative. No one else's children are falling from rides because they are not 6'4" and 370lbs. This should spark a national conversation about morbid, childhood obesity. Will this lawmakers bring a bill in this child's honor that will go after parents, that abuse their children by letting them get this big. They are bringing all this negative press on this company, while taking no responsibility for their negligence as parents. This father even admitted after it happened, that his son shouldn't have been on this ride. I hope the company counter sues. It's a tragic situation yes, but these people's actions are motivated by pure greed. The love of money is the root of all evil. These people are disgusting! Why should other children across the country suffer? The attorney said: "we want to end the golden age of amusement parks for children." Wow.

This was horrific and I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but let's remember this kid should not have gotten on this ride! Thousands of people who were not over the weight limit have ridden this ride with no issues. Yes, the operator who manipulated his shoulder harness to make him fit should be held accountable, but to take it down over this one incident is going too far. Seatbelts do need to be installed also.
