- I recently came across some good backing tracks recorded by the mighty @SimonPeterKing . The swing was so hard that I couldn't resist taking a solo over Moment's notice, one of my favorite tunes by Coltrane! Hope you enjoy :D

If Rick Beato posted a link to one of Mateo’s videos, I wonder how long it would take to receive over a million likes? Hope Rick asks Mateo for an interview to discuss his two different right-hand picking techniques.
Didnt he use to pick like a bass player?
@@Bocman1 pizzicato
@@Bocman1 I'm p sure he used nails when he had that position too. Could be wrong tho
@@Bocman1 I heard an interview where he stated he played for quite a while before he even heard of a pick! It seems he never needed one.
@@GravityFarm hes from mars
Sounds like the best guitarist in the world.
He is actually🤫
AGREE. No doubts, my friend. For 1000 reasons : innovative technique, phrasing, musicality, young age, and more
Definitely
And sicily deserves it so much
Matteo is just in a whole different level
I hit the like button first, than I listen. And then I keep hitting and hitting in total disbelief! You're beyond human, a gift to the world
Mateo’s guitar playing sounds more like a saxophone to me. I’m sure Charlie parker would be amazed too. Just incredible!!!Please put out a new album
If anyone's interested, I should have this transcribed in about 15 years.
Lol
And I still wouldn't know how to play cuz I suck. 🤣🤣
The transcription has already been posted to Soundslice!
@@adrianholovaty please send me the link
Hahahahahahahahahahaha!
This, ladies and gentlemen, is what a true virtuoso sounds (and looks) like. Insolent and effortless fluidity
He is a humble guy
*"Insolent"?*
Perhaps you chose the wrong word. Insolent means 'showing a rude and arrogant lack of respect'.
Absolutely the opposite of Matteo!
@@Gattobuono I guess most people here understood that I did not use the word in a negative fashion, but rather as a way to highlight the "mindblowing" aspect of Matteo's playing. Also, I do believe that his talent is a bitchslap in the face of those who believe that only the amount of work can explain one's skills. Can Satriani or Vai, who have been playing and practising for decades play like him ?
@@philby8 yeah I see what you're saying, there needs to be a level of attitude to playing so as to maintain some respect, otherwise people(a$$holes) will walk all over you. A good example is Jaco pastorius when he approached Joe zawinal he said; I'm the best bass player in the world, you need to hire me! Lol although the word insolent can be a little harsh
@@philby8 I think people who aren't english don't understand the meaning of some expressions. 😅
I listen to this with great attention. Speechless. I was thinking to all my life playing guitar since my 14 (now I’m 67). Then I went on Facebook and I asked Salieri as friend.
That’s taking jazz guitar as close to the possibilities of piano or saxophone as you can get - while staying musically and in full control of what you are doing. Bend my knee to the master ;-)
Exactly. Absolutely agree
Single line virtuosity par excellance indeed but not pianistic. Martin Taylor for that.
this has nothing to do with getting as close to piano or sax. it is simply an artist who plays music with his chosen instrument
@@vanguard4065 yes, but he enlarge and explore his instrument possibilities, with an original approach, new technique of righ hand, incredible phrasing and musicality
@@vanguard4065 you‘re missing my point. I was about tonal qualities of soloing instruments in Jazz - and jazz guitar always had limitations in tone an dynamic that were adding to the limitations of the players - matteo is overcoming them with his flow in a way that’s unique in the history of jazz guitar - I was not about trying to be copy or being something you are not.
It’s not only the skill required. But also the memory and brain capacity to assimilate all this sequences of notes. Astonishing.
Many people, me included, couldn't play through changes at that speed and complexity like jazz guys do even if they tried for years. My brain can't cope with that information! I can flail around in a given key, play technically fun stuff, but these guys have a different brain altogether to mine!
Superb jazz feel, -swing rythm, -timing and superb choice of notes. Making me smile. I have similar lines in my head, but my fingers cant play it. Great to hear someone who can.
I know this guy is still young, and humble, but I don't know if he realizes he is one of the best guitarists on the planet...
Yes, he knows that many people are saying it, but he surely don't believe it and don't care, so he remains humble, 'cause is in its nature.
Music is not an Olympic game. Don't care if you are the first or the second. His goal is another. To play everywhere , growing in playing and composing, and make good music.
I thnk he knows it since everyone keeps saying it.
No doubt he a monster player but I would need to hear more original music to make that grand declaration. Guys like Allan Holdsworth are in that category, this kid hasn’t created a “sound” that I know of yet but he’ll knock my socks off playing others music flawlessly.
@@biorythmicshifter I think he is so powerfull that dont need to create his "own style & sound", at the end, he already have own "fingerstyle", he can play eny style, and anything what he want, because he can...
He is 24. He reached this level at 24. Please give him time and trust. He will develope his own style (as he now developed a unique right hand technique) and he will write great music. I am sure of this. He have all the skills to become one day not only the best guitar player in the world, but also a great composer and a complete artist
That may be the finest solo I've ever heard, and a prime example of a musician who isn't just playing, but speaking. Bravo!
I'm convinced he's going to drive us even crazier than he made us already !
I can't believe his channel only have 100k+ subs... Real underrated.. 😔😔
I'm honestly in love with your guitar also, looks like if a revstar and a les paul had a a baby and that baby was awesome
My mind doesn’t even move fast enough to take in this solo ,,,let alone try to play it ,,marvellous
slow this down to half speed and the amazement of what exactly he is playing is complete - absolutely incredible, ans sooo beautiful too. wow
Wow. Simply wow. I second a previous comment : a Rick beato interview would be amazing - do dive into Matteo’s incredible depth !
All he does is make me want to throw my guitar in the fireplace and forget I even took up the guitar. He undoubtably is the master of the guitar world bar none! Salute Matteo!
I find him inspiring. Strumma strumma acoustic guitar players make me want to throw guitars in the fireplace. Every time I hear a singer songwriter start up the old 1-4 with a push on the 4 I want to scream at the obviousness of it all.
I’m breathless after watching this. I don’t see how it’s possible to improve on it.
It is freaking perfect in every way.
Man...You're another step beyond for jazz- fusion guitar. Thanks for it.
IMO the best modern guitar player actually
Don Mock and his synth would tear this solo up too with great feel ... I miss him... and am appreciative Matteo for sharing your talent with us!
pure talent , if not a genius, but not to forget he studied music deep ( not on youtube) and he is inteligent too and very humble!
he belongs in the future generation of guitarists! he s like from 2050 , back in time in 2021 to " show" us how the instument will sounds in the 2050...
I like the tone and the chops and the phrasing-it's what all the jam band/prog people try to go for, and here it is in Jazz, and it sounds freaking great!
Matteo sempre strepitoso.
My MOST favorite guitar player/musician!!! Thank you!!
BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Manteo! You are musically mature beyond your years, and all your hard work has paid off for all of us. You are a master musician!
Greattttt...Magistral ... Espectacular 👏👏👏
I'm always excited when ther's a new Matteo video.
Me too
Matteo, you are reaching the genius level
Excellent
Incredible
Since the very first time i heard Matteo Mancuso i knew that he was an absolute badass and a great musician. Matteo you are getting better and better , congratulations !
This is taking it to another level. Sounds like what Larry Carlton would have liked to have done.
Hahahahhah,,,,,,thats true
Larry Carleton on steroids
And playing with fingers - no pick involved.
Bullseye!
Incredible talent Matteo!!!!! I played guitar many years ago (not very well) but have much appreciation for how you play! Thanks for sharing your musical world with us!
Breath taking!
Simply astonishing!!
Awesome. Amazing. Beautiful.
.. Cheers ..... ☺😊😀/🎼🎶💙🎸🎵/👍✌👌👏👋
So smooth…
What can’t he do? Mind blowing Talent!
I can't wait to see the Rolling Stone list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of all Time. I'm going to scream to the heavens in rage (more than usual). You are the best I've ever heard!!!!
Just so musical and inspiring. Awesome playing!!!
F-ing outrageously awesome!!!
Damn that's some tasty lines man! Killin!
I always felt like a couldn't play properly as I'm hopeless with a pick. Fingers seem so much more natural and this genius shows you what's possible. Wes didn't use one and Jeff Beck plays with fingers so I'm more than happy using digits
And Knopfler -
Bravo!
AMAZING!!!! Holy moly yer gooood!!
As usual, superb.
This is unquestionably the best guitarist on the planet!!
I think so
I think the top 10,000 classical guitarists would disagree.
@@davidlewis5737 he began as a classical guitarist. He play with nails with his righ hand, he said he brings some classical technique in modern jazz Electric guitar
@@consulentecomunicazionestr3072 Well it shows because he actually sounds decent.
@@davidlewis5737 I kind of understand what you mean and where you are going with this. Now, the question is : Out of your 10K classical guitarists, how many would be able to do what he does ?
You're absolutely incredible! I've heard so many great guitarists but this is on another level.
THE BEST AND ONLY!
Another solo from heaven, flawless
Grande Matteo, sentirti suonare e' sempre una boccata d'aria fresca!!!
Magnifico. Excellente. Splendido.
Matteo's the chosen one.
Wohoo!! 😃
I can't stop to listen more and more and more
Incredible.
My God have mercy that's so nice.
When it’s this effortless sounding you can be sure there’s countless hours of dedication and repetition behind it. Even the. To play with this level of musicality as well... astounding, unique and creative young musician here!
Terrific
I just love this guys playing...
Assolo magistrale e gustosissimo. Linee melodiche splendide. Bravo 👏
best guitarist on planet. . . . big time.

Hats off gentlemen...a genius
Hoooollllyyyyy Shiyayaaaattt....blew my mind
Meraviglioso!
Always impressive!
Amazing Matteo!!!
Sempre e comunque. La tua mente vola alto
unbelievably good!
Spettacolo !!!
World’s absolutely best!!!!!
Excellent!
Love to see Matteo come to the UK
pure musical happiness
Fantastic Matteo! Wow! Way to go!
Awesome!
MOSTRUOSO come sempre.
Great!
Bravo, excellent.
GRANDE Matteo!!!!!
Love it ! 👍
