  • A brief summary of every time Christians were hunted by the Roman state and for what reasons. Entirely too quick to be complete, with vast swathes of relevant information covered in mere seconds and sometimes not mentioned at all. ENJOY!

“Religious belief is the opium of the people”. And forms the basis not of their salvation in some superstitious next life in some non-existent spiritual world, but really of their deception and exploitation by a cynical, hypocritical, dishonest and disbelieving ruling class.
Someone clever I read frequently made these points. Someone who wanted to help people to rid themselves of those cynical greedy exploitative aristocratic ruling class type people and to help the hardworking people of the world to take care of themselves in THIS life and on this world we all share together said all this … way back in 1843. And slowly the truth of this is spreading throughout the hardworking people and families of this world who find comfort and virtue enough in the embrace of their community of hardworking neighbors who like them are slowly trying to free themselves from the deceptive ideology of the greedy selfish aristocratic ruling class who assess themselves superior to their neighbors and their rightful betters and rulers, ruthlessly using even cynical lies like superstitious religious beliefs long past an era where any such supernatural superstitions should hold sway over the minds of self-respecting working people.
Religion is but one of the many tools of the rich to oppress the poor hardworking people and keep them poor, and forms an elaborate system of lies none of the rich and powerful ruling class actually believe or live by themselves. Free yourself of this immaterial self imposed superstitious addictions of the mind and prepare for a virtuous life lived in communities of ALL working people in this life and in this material world. For thousands of years the worst among us have used religion to justify the hierarchical society they build for themselves to rule with their vile deeds. It’s time now to put an end to this and these people’s predations that rely on your virtuous character, good nature and unfortunate credulity. Deny them these false religious beliefs and one more tool of their oppression is denied to them as well. The people of good nature will survive without superstition to guide and justify their good acts. False social hierarchies, oppression and and suspicion and rejection of others from our communities for failing to share our fairy tales will not survive, and society and our lives on this earth will be immensely better for it!

@@Symund 'Death cult' - that Reddit atheist rhetoric is so tired at this point. Does it not embarrass you that your edgy 'infallible' arguments have been debunked by illiterate Mercian friars a millennium and a half ago?

at about 9:00 you have a quote from Origen's work "Against Celsus" and make the comment about Platonic philosophers.
I'm sure if you intended this, but that quote is not Origen's view but rather it is his quoting of Celsus in order to criticise it. Origen is a Christian apologist (though one with some eclectic if not heretical views), Celsus is the critic of Christianity.

15:57 'They didn't ask him to renounce Christianity, they simply forced him under pain of death to commit acts expressly forbidden by Christianity'
    Are you serious?

The argument that the persecution of Christianity was less egregious due to its legalistic rather than moral origins (and therefore not a huge deal) is definitely…. interesting

So Christian’s chose to to be enemies of Rome and were horribly underestimated by the state and should have been felt with better?

Romam Empire and Judea engaged in a great struggle, but the battle was as a battle between a great eagle and a rat. The eagle destroyed the rat, but the rat bit the eagle before it took its last breath. That bite (Christianity) stayed open, spread, and festered for a few centuries until it eventually poisoned and killed the great eagle.

You're seriously blaming the execution of Jesus solely on Pilate and the Romans, completely ignoring the leading role the Jews played as recounted in both the Christian and Jewish holy books? This channel has lost all credibility with this video
