    Thank you for making this!! Most videos only go over the different sizes, so I was excited to find you comparing different hook materials. Thinking about getting a wooden / bamboo set next. This was very helpful 😊

    I have always used Susan Bates inline hooks, but have recently switched to Tulip hooks, which I love. Your plastic hooks are so pretty, it’s a shame they don’t work as well. 💕🌻💕

    Thanks, Tuula for your helpful description and opinion on the varies crochet hook. I brought a package of crochet/knit (love to crochet but hate to knit) gadgets. In the package is a aluminum crochet hook in one end with a needle with eye on the other end. It's about 3" long. What is it for and what do I use it. Thank you!

    I just bought one of those ergonomic hooks like the purple one you showed but haven't used it enough to give a full opinion on it. Also I am a brand new crocheter. I did try a plastic one like at the end but found it hard to use as it didn't glide smoothly.

    I bought a lighted hook. I can’t stand it. It was so bright it started to give me a headache. Awesome idea though! But I bought it off Wish, so they are more than likely made different from a craft store here in the US.

    Hello, does the size of the hook matter when making a certain crochet pattern? I am an absolute beginner and have no idea

    • @TuulaMaaria
      @TuulaMaaria  3 роки тому +3

      Yes, it matters a lot. The hook should be in proportion to the yarn you are using. Most yarns give a suggestion of what size to use.

      The light grey ones are the most common type in Finland, every grocery store sells them. They are metal with a thin plastic coating.

    hi! do bamboo/wooden hooks glide smoothly and are they comfortable to use? i noticed that wooden ones tend to be inline, which i appreciate because i can’t work with tapered hooks. i want to try susan bates hooks but unfortunately they can be quite pricy in my country, so any input would be appreciated!

    • @TuulaMaaria
      @TuulaMaaria  2 роки тому

      Bamboo and wooden hooks vary quite a bit. Some don't slide well if they have no coating but others are drat, easy to use. I have heard of Susan Bates hooks but I haven't seen those.

    Could you please tell me the brand name of the Grey crochet hook? The hook you said are plastic coated metal and available in most supermarkets where you live? I live in the USA, and it seems our craft stores are limited to Boye, Susan Bates, and Clover. I purchase most of my knitting and crochet supplies from Amazon, but I can’t seem to find the crochet hook you show in this video. I like the colorful wooden hook you have in this video too. Is that made by Knit Pro?

      Here a whole lot of different brands sell those, I checked the around 20 hooks of that type I have. One that sells online worldwide is Novita in Finland, www.novitaknits.com/en/en/tools/novita-crochet-hook . But right now we are having a postal strike that doesn't seem to get sorted out so if they use post instead of UPS or some similar service, it wouldn't be quick.
