That was super informative! I never knew about there being different MM sizes with the same letter. O_O Thank you so much for sharing everything. I never heard of that locker hooking needle either. I love that!
That was a really interesting video, Donna. There are so many types of hooks to choose from these days, I think it's great that we have such a wide range at our disposal. In other unrelated news - your nails are looking absolutely stunning!
Oh this was great. One I love your nails in this Two i have a few different type of hooks my husband got me when i first started but I have to say the Metal( the first one she showed) are the ones I like to use the most.
This video is so informative! My hooks are marked with mm sizes and letters but often those letters don't correspond with what I see in the crochet videos around the YT. Those aluminium hooks are so so pretty and I'd love to buy a set of them but I couldn't use them as my fingers can't work with hooks without ergonomic handles. They are healthy and as far as I can feel there's nothing wrong about them but a few minutes with regular metal hooks and my fingers start to get numb and sometimes even hurt.
Amazing video there! I love how you're very fair and never once discriminate any of the different types of hooks nor even telling your audience what you prefer, many crocheters on UA-cam do that and ended up trashing a certain type of material or even brand, which I don't really like, because it almost always favours the expensive brands, which as budget yarn crafters can feel very discouraged and almost like being "looked down", and being a non-American, things can get very expensive in some other currencies even if they are affordable in USD. I really love and appreciate your positive and calming introduction to all these tools. Keep those amazing videos up, looking forward to more of your videos.
What an awesome video, very informative!! I've been crocheting since I was 8 and I've always wondered what all those different hooks were used for. Thank you for making this for us!
Hi ms. Donna, I have been crocheting for years and you where my go to channel when I first started crocheting. And here I am after years still watching your videos!♥️ you’re amazing ! Thank you for your effort
Thanks for this!!! I absolutely LOVE the glass hook! How does it crochet? The last hook, the one with the eye at the end... I always wondered what those were used for. We learn something new everyday. Thanks Naztazia
The glass one is really cool! It's kind of smooth and very slick, so if you are working with already-slippery yarn (like nylon or bamboo) it can be a challenge. Other than that it does quite well with all other types of yarn.
Very interesting information. After watching this, I have decided to order this collection of hooks. Please Donna need your advice on how and where is the best place to get my hook collection?
These days I generally order on Amzn since stores seem to carry nothing anymore. I have links on my website for many of the items in the video (the first pinned comment of this video has the website link).
Hi Naztazia, here I am again. This is very informative presentation, I even did not know that extended tunisian crochet hook exists. I"ll certainly buy some and can hardly wait to start one baby bkanket. Thanks for your help and all the very best. 🌺
Very informative! I have been crocheting and knitting for umpteen years and I didn’t know about locker hooking! It looks like latch hook except with a combination of fabric and yarn…I’ll have to check it out!
Hi,I was struggling to make a circle coaster crochet I have a crochet request Can you make a circle coaster crochet for vases and for mugs? I can't find any slow versions Thank You ❤️
Hello Naztazia my Tammy and I have the gold enamel crochet hooks that has a hook on each end and they have SKC in the middle of them but I can't tell what size they are can you help me please 😀
You mentioned the locker hook There is also one called a knook it in 4 sizes you chain whatever sts say 15 then pick up sts as in tunisian There is an eyelet at end of hook you thread a cord in eyelet Then pull sts through on to cord and knit as can see this can be used for crochet rug hooking and knitting all in this 1 hook
Hello Donna. I follow you quite a bit on utube & I thoroughly enjoy your tutorials. I've been crocheting for 8 yrs & only by tutorials. My question is why is there no crochet hook 4.75 or why is it not included in kits? I have found 1 online but I'm not paying 4x the price for shipping of the hook. I definitely would be interested in purchasing one. Thanks so much from this Canadian gal
Here in the USA and Canada, crochet hooks have been "standardized" by the handful of larger companies that make them. Three that come to mind are Boye (Wrights), Susan Bates (Yarnspirations/Spinrite), and Lion Brand. They don't include a 4.75 mm in their current standards for whatever reason. Other countries might have their own standards that include a 4.75 mm hook, which is why they do exist, and designers who have one in their own collection might use that one in their patterns.
Very informative. Could easily be broken into sections that are 20 minutes or so each to cover more on each type though. So much to be said about the tools we use in any craft
Which one do you mean, the locker hooking one (hook/sewing needle combo)? If so, locker hooking was/is done to make rugs, handbags, wall hangings, etc. You would use a canvas (the kind in latch hooking), yarn/twine, and fabric strips. Guess I need to do a video on it?
That one was from quite a few years ago from the Knitting Glass Guy. The Tunisian ones were the "Nicole" brand from AC Moore (which has since gone out of business).
Hi Naztazia, do you know the Smirne crocket? If so, can you please show us how to use it and if possible provide us with some projects? Thank you, ciao!
I believe you are referring to what we call the "bullion" stitch. If so, here's a video for a flower with that stitch: ua-cam.com/video/VIQdoqCiatE/v-deo.html
It depends upon what fiber the chenille is made from, since the term "chenille" refers to the type of yarn that has little fuzzy piles. Acrylic hooks are good when the yarn is not-slippery. When the yarn is slippery, bamboo is probably the best since it offers some resistance. So if the chenille is made of cotton, acrylic hooks would be good, as it is not a slippery fiber. However, if the chenille is made of rayon, that's usually a slippery yarn, and might be better with bamboo.
I have the link to where I got them on my website (from Amzn). I do believe they are out of stock right now though. First pinned comment in this video's comment section has the link to my website for this video.
Sorry, I have no idea what you are referring to. Can you tell me what the timestamp is in the video. For example, if the tool that you are looking for appears at 1 minute, 30 seconds in the video, please let me know that.

@@naztazia yes, please! 🙏
Hi Donna, where can we purchase a folded hook set like the green one you showed in the video? Thanks 😊 xx
I believe mine came from one of my local craft store (Joanns, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc.) here in the US.
I have crochet the length that I wanted so how do end the last stitch?
Awesome ! I'm jealous, hahaha!
I thought the last hook was used for a different type of crochet called kooking. You just introduced me another use.
Happy to help!
So many cute Hooks ! Never knew there were so many different kinds. So informative! #NewSubscriber
Where did you get that glass @3:50 crochet hook at and those fancy wooden colored Tunisian @4:00 hooks at?
😋
That one was from quite a few years ago from the Knitting Glass Guy. The Tunisian ones were the "Nicole" brand from AC Moore (which has since gone out of business).
Hi Naztazia, do you know the Smirne crocket? If so, can you please show us how to use it and if possible provide us with some projects? Thank you, ciao!
