I was completely shocked at how nicely these hooks worked. The glide of the hook and the grip on the handle was incredible. I loved them so much I bought a set for my mom who has been crocheting for years with standard steel hooks. She already stole one of mine, so I had to gift her with a whole set of her own (and get my F hook back!!).
I was fortunate to get my hook set via Amazon for just over $44. I already had some ergonomic hooks (I think about 3 different sets) but I still have an issue with carpal tunnel syndrome. Now I have already had corrective surgery on both wrists, with my left wrist done twice. After the first round of surgery, and of course lengthy recovery time, I had to teach myself a different way to holding my hooks to prevent the pain returning. Even with that, after an hour or so of crocheting, I would be in terrible pain. I had heard of the clover hooks but I thought, ok another ergonomic set. Then I started to research and watch more and more of the product reviews on them. The price was a lot more than I really thought I could afford, but if they were really as good as they were for other people, then I could look at it as an investment so I could continue with my crocheting, which is actually a form of emotional therapy for me. Let me tell you, it was the best money I ever spent! The handles are so comfortable to hold and work with, the hook part holds the yarn and allows it to glide along. And I can now crochet for hours without pain. I love them and will highly recommend them to anyone who has been dealing with carpal tunnel syndrome pain. They are the way to go. Next, I'll be getting the set of larger hooks for the chunky yarns.
Best hooks ever! I love how they feel, and the color coding is perfect for vision impaired folks. I’ve had mine fir a couple if years, now, and they still look brand new.
I’ve been using these hooks for a couple of years, now ..,and love them. I have very small hands, and they are perfect for me... I also have vision issues, so each size having its own color is a big plus. I keep them in a Vera Bradley pencil case,, whuch was a gift,
I too, am a devoted Clover Amour hooks liver. I used to be a die-hard Susan Bates inline hook person, but ever since I bought this set from Clover, I will never use anything else. I love my set so much that I also bought the Japanese version with the Japanese sizings on the hooks. This 8-piece set is called, Clover Amure. I love the handles on both sets and even more, I love the finish on the metal part. Thanks for making this video. :). You are so right! :)
Wow, that's cool, I haven't seen the Japanese version! That's very interesting that these hooks converted you from being an inline advocate. That says so much about how nice these are to use. Thank you for sharing!
+Lee Ann CrochetGottaLoveIt Hi Lee Ann, they ahve the Japanese import Amure here in Spain too. I'm going to try out one of these hooks before making the investment. They now have the K hook I see on amazon.com www.amazon.com/Clover-1053-Amour-Crochet-6-5mm/dp/B00NZF0TPI Hope this helps someone searching for this sized hook. I have the Susan Bates hooks now and love them, but my wrists are starting to hurt. AllHi
Finally someone reviewing these books who have actually used them! And I've seen by reading the comments you also use the tulip ones and you prefer those over these. You have no idea how many videos I've seen where he person reviewing says "now I've never used these clover ones…but let me tell you why I don't like them" insert face palm The only Joanne's that has them around me is an hour away but if another craft store doesn't have them I'm getting them tonight on Amazon. They where around $38
I am new to crocheting...but boy oh boy...When I started crocheting my hands got tired and I found myself holding the hook too tight... I bought one of the clover hooks and fell in love with crocheting because of how wonderful these hooks worked for me. I can't afford the whole pack...but I now have 3 sizes and LOVE them!
I have always loved my Susan Bates hooks... I can use acBiye hook, but I don’t really like them... I resisted buying a hook with any kind of handle for a very long time.. But I kept hearing nothing but good things about these beautiful Clover Amour hooks.. SO.L I finally bought one, in my fav size... I fell in love with it! I have very small hands, and my new H8 Clover hook felt wonderful in my hands.,, I love how comfortable the handle feels. Went back to Joann’, and bought another Clover hook... I intend to buy all if my fav sizes.., ,, I’m so glad finally gave in, at gave these great hooks a chance.l. Great review.
Oh.. Bought mine one at a time.. Added... Just want to say thst I have had my Clovers for several years now, and they have held up beautifully. The handles have stayed clean and bright... and they are so easy to tuck into any space. ‘ I do own three Furls Odyssey hooks, and I do like them... even though my hands are very small.. So.. I sometimes switch off... but I still love my Clovers.. They are my go to hooks..
I started teaching myself to knit about five years ago and found it to be quite stressful because my metal needles were always slipping in my hands. So I decided to start crocheting instead and same issue with my crochet hook because it too is metal. I love the idea of rubber handled hooks because that would make life so much easier. I have seen some really awesome ideas that I want to try so these hooks would come in very handy for me. Thank you so much for this video.
I just got me a set of these hooks. I love them. At first I was on the fence for so long because I am use to Boye Ergonomic Crochet Hooks, which are 6 inches and I love this length. The Amour hooks are a little bit shorter than I am use to Finally, after reading the reviews and watching product reviews on You-tube, I took the plunge and I am so glad I did. I absolutely love these hooks.
I was so pleasantly surprised when I finally tried the Clover hooks.... I have always preferred my Susan Bates hooks, and Declared I would never use a handled hook.mmThat was because my hands are very small. Well! Everyone kept raving about the Clover Amours..,so I finally bought my fav size.. an H-8. I instantly fell in love. I am saving fir a full set now...I have two, but want at least 2-3 more. They are great.
I had a set of Boye Ergo hooks, and liked them a lot. But, Amazon had the Clover Amour set on sale for $28, and I HAD to get them! So far, they’re fabulous! That’s all I’m using! Thanks for your review!
The hooks came yesterday and as you promised in the video, I do love them! I got the set on Amazon with the case for $53 and free Prime shipping. The case is the perfect size and so cute! The hooks are so light and go so smoothly through the yarn. Thanks again for the review
Oh that's so great!! That's about what I paid for mine too... Worth every penny! Thank you for coming back and sharing with me. I'm so glad you found my review helpful!
I am just beginning to learn to crochet, and was so confused about all the different types on the market. I have problems with my hands and wrist, and knew I would like a more ergonomic type. Thanks so much for your review.
Speaking of pouches... I was recently gifted with a beautiful blue pencil case style Vera Bradley pouch specifically fir my favorite hooks. I love it... I keep my fav hooks, plus a few notions in this pouch..,and it goes into whatever project I am currently working in,
I have been hooking :} for quite a while now and have had the pleasure of trying a lot of different hooks! From the beginning I have preferred to work with cotton so it is very important to me that my hook glides nicely through my stitches (note I crochet on the snug side). I first started with wood hooks, and those are not my favorite, then I moved on to the Susan bates variety....I wasn't very impressed by those either. For a while I stuck with the aluminum Hiya Hiya hooks, they are pretty awesome. Finally I tried the clover amore hooks and fell in love. For an early Mothers Day present my husband bought me a really nice set of hooks from Knitters Pride, 9 sizes in a cute green case...but they hardly hold a flame to my trusty Amore hooks!!! they are definitely the best out there!!!
So glad to see this review. My Clover Amour hooks are being delivered today by Amazon! I had a hard time deciding between the Clover Amour set and the Tulip Etimo set. I chose these because the Etimo's look like they have sticky labels on them with the size instead of them being embossed like the Amour's. Also on the labels, the Etimo's don't have the hook Letter, just the mm size. I've never tried either of them and hope that I made the right choice. Your video makes me think I did!
So glad to help! I've never actually used the tulip hooks but how to buy a set in the future and do a review on them as well. Let me know what you think!
Just some insight from someone who has tried a few different hooks. Some say that they can only use one certain kind and that's it. I used to think that too. But as I progressed I learned that each style hook has a good purpose. For example , when working with stringy yarn such as cotton or Caron, I will use my Bates hooks. I do find when using them I have to use my wrist more and I get a sore arm because they do require more defined movement. Still, I thought at first that the Clover may not work at all because the throat was so shallow. However, I have found , with about 2 minutes of practice, that the Clover actually requires about half the hand and arm motion and I don't loose any stitches. I don't have to pull the hook back as far when finishing my stitch and I can go right into the next one in half the time. It's a constant , fluid flow. Beautiful and fun. I also don't need to switch for different types of yarn. I love these hooks.
I totally get the hook texture thing, I started with a set of slippery buggers from my great aunt. They got the job done but dropped yarn constantly, so I decided to make my own out of a plum tree branch. :P It works great and has that slight drag on it, wood for me all the way, I just need to make several more sizes.
New to crochet, a little over 3 years, started with the Boye brand aluminum hooks after a while the hand cramps were unbearable. Had no idea about an ergonomic hook until I watched UA-cam and found a few reviews on the Clover Amour's, well, I bought a set for a little over $35 on Amazon. These hooks are everything you said they would be. I crochet faster and my products look better the hook glides through the yarn like butter. I highly recommend these hooks as well.
Hi Brittany, I just wanted to let you know I bought the clover amour set. I love these hooks and will never go back to my Susan Bates. I'm really looking forward to all your tunisian crochet posts in September. I just got in to tunisian crochet. I'm waiting for the Denise Interchangeable hooks I ordered to arrive. Love your blog and videos!! Allie
as of dec 2014 i just purchased 50 mm clover amour crochet ook just one to start to see how well his works for me so far so I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE SO I THINK I WILL BE CHANGING ALL MY HOOKS O CLOVER
I was gifted the Steel hook set for Christmas and while I have so far only used them to add beads to a knitting project (not sure I will every crochet thread lol) I LOVE the grips and slide of the metal which is so much better than the cheap thin metal one I had been using. Most of my other hooks are Boye aluminum and while they are ok I can't wait to get these ones, especially smaller ones like F which is not very comfortable and I have to take breaks from. My only question to the brand is why K and higher are resin instead of metal. I would love to eventually have the full set but have never been a fan of resin hooks (though I have not yet tried theirs).
I have Bates hooks and they are my favorite because of the deep cut in the head. I used Boye at first but the smaller sizes kept splitting the yarn and the yarn over kept falling off. I have heard good things about Clover but if it doesn't have the deep head I really don't want to waste the money.
Just bought, but not so cheap as expected :X Last time used such tools maybe .... 20y ago :F And i remember like yesterday.. most annoying thing was yarn.. when it was moving too much.. I hope this handle can solve problem.. So.. It's time to shine.. :B
I have also had trouble with the slipping of the Boye dude hook. But I love how they feel and the thickness of the handle would love to see a video of a comparison of the two
Loved your review. Very Informative. I noticed you using this hook on the basketweave video on DIYEVERYWHERE. You hold your hook similar to how I hold and load my yarn. I purchased Furls, I like them, but something is still weird about theirs. I will take your advice and try these. I have carpal tunnel and my hands get sore with the regular boye hooks. Thanks Again.
I have a similar experience with Furls hooks. Their hooks are "inline" rather than these which are "tapered". That makes all the difference for those of us knife grippers :)
Honestly, I wish I bought the whole set with a case instead of a few at a time. Amour hooks have become my very favorite. I guess I am going to have to crochet my own case. ;)
Hi Brittany, thank you for this great video!! I want to purchase 1 hook to try before I buy. They now have the K on amazon.com now. They hve the Japanese import on amazon here in Spain. I hold my hook like you now thanks for the great tip!! Allie
One other tip I would like to share. I know it is more expensive , but I like to buy my hooks from a retail store so I can look at them. Over time I have purchased hooks without inspection and gotten them home to find that the heads were off center from the thumb rest. I suppose you could still use them, but just knowing it drove me nuts. I had to throw them out. I always look at the alignment before buying.
I bought a set because everyone raved how smooth they were. I was so disappointed when I got them as I experienced a lot of drag when I used them. They weren’t “like butte” like other crocheted claimed. The 4.5mm also had a defect under the neck. It is a little piece of metal that runs from front to back.
Greetings from CANADA! Some time ago I purchased Boye's 'The Crochet Dude' ergonomic crochet hooks from 5 mm up to 9 mm. 6 mm and larger I had no problem with, but the 5 mm and 5.5 mm I found that when the rubber/plastic warmed in your hand the hook would swivel around, causing nothing but problems. Have you found this problem with the Clover 'Amour' hooks? Thank you and loved your video!! Yours in yarn, Laurie Fancy
Wow I can't believe that happened with the crochet dude hooks! Major bummer! I have not had this problem with the amour hooks. They have worked through many hours of crocheting with ease. Definitely no slipping as the handle warms up in my hand.
Love these hooks! The first thing I noticed was my hands didn't get tired like they did when I use my other hooks. I'm going to stick to these unless I happen to stumble up onto something better.
I finally broke down and bought Clover Amour crochet hooks. I’m disappointed in the aluminum shaft of the hook as the yarn drags a lot against it. How can I tell if they are counterfeit? The hooks have all the right markings and handle colors. I thought they were supposed to glide against the yarn. What do you think?
What is the difference between the aluminum hook and the steel hook. Also is there any difference when buying a set of 🍀 Clover Amour hooks that say they have a bright colored handle vs a pastel colored handle?
Good question! The steel set have the pastel handles and are the small sizes used for thread crochet. The Aluminum hook set has the bright colored handle and range in the larger sizes for worsted weight crochet.
I got this and was very excited to start working with them but as I was working on a project with a thicker yarn I found the hook just came out from the colorful grip. It really dissaponted me . Any solution to it ?
Hi, I would like to ask you why does a set of clover amour cost 45 and a a set of tulip atimo costs 100. is It because there is a huge difference in texture???. Which one would u recommend me to buy???
Hey, sorry for the delay! You're right, there is a huge difference in price. Aside from the subtle differences in the handle and hook texture, you also get the case and accessories with the tulip. Is it worth $55 more? Meh, not really. Honestly, the Amour hooks are amazing for the price and I would recommend them based on price. I loved my amour hooks, and still do, even though I use the tulip after making the big investment in them.
I love my set….but there is a problem….if I crochet for to long the wording ‘clover’ that is raised at the very bottom of the handle below the size (which is indented) really irritates the side of the palm of my hand, so much so that I have to swop back to my Prym hooks. Love the handle and length of the Prym but adore the hook of the clover!!! I know it probably because I have small hands and turn the hook to catch the yarn but I really don’t know why it has to have its name raised like that.
hi, I'm new with crochet… I just got a familytown crochet hooks from amazon, is it same nice as Clover amour crochet hooks or so much different? thank you… ^^
To be completely honest, I really love both. But if I had to choose, I'd say the Tulip hooks have a more comfortable grip because of the thumb groove. They are so similar as far as ease of use that it's really personal preference. That being said, I would definitely recommend trying an Amour hook. You could always just purchase a single hook in your favorite size before making the decision to switch.
Hi, In comparing hooks,,, since ''clover soft touch & clover armour'' are made from same co.,,my question if anybody knows,, is the head of either deeper then the other, I like the clover soft touch , but the yarn slips of alot,??
Hi Luanne! The hook heads are the same for both the soft touch and amour. I had the same problem with my amour hooks at first but quickly adjusted to them. I had previously used Boye hooks which have a deeper groove. Now that I'm used to the Clover hooks, I've realized how much quicker and neater I can crochet with them.
Hi, been trying to look at reviews . All my crochet hooks are old school from the 80's and 90's. lol I want to start up again , been a long while. I want to replace mines with some new ones. I see that the latest fad is the comfy grip. Which I think would stop the hurting of hours of crocheting. lol So my question is, I am not sure what make or brand to buy that is the best for your buck. I am a little fussy on how smooth the stitch is pulled through, how comfortable it is and if it snags. If I am going to buy a set I want them to be it for a long time without regret. But I don't want to spend a fortune. Would you be able to suggest any brands that may be what I am looking for since you do reviews. thank you so much. this has been driving me nuts and has prolonged me longer than I wanted. lol I would really like some help. ginger :)
hold on to at least one set of the "old" hooks....I was making a stuffed duck incorping the "loop" stitch....the newer hooks I have did not leave enough room to do the stitch. Parts of the stitch kept slipping off the hook until I went back to my "old" set of hooks which did not stop me from needing more room on the shaft...so things worked out for me.... Just offering a suggestion.
ohh. so just because the new stuff looks all fancy and good in some ways you like the old school one as well. May be I won't get the new kind and just stick with them. I thought maybe the new ones would be better some how. ty so much for relying. Have a good day :) Ginger
You appear to be using knife-style grasp of the hook. I was wondering if this hook would be just as suitable for the good ol' pencil-type way of holding the hook. Tk. you.
Hi there! You're correct, I do use the knife-style grasp when I crochet. I can say from personal experience that my mom uses the pencil grasp and she loves these hooks! I'd say they are quite suitable for both grips. The thumb rest is very nice and is in the perfect position for either.
I can relate! I talked my mom into buying these hooks too and she loves them. Thank you for sharing :)

I love mine. I have some of them, and yes I crochet faster with these too. Some day I will have the whole set.
I LOVE these hooks !!! I will never buy another type of hook.
Me neither! Thank you for sharing!
Thank You for this video. I accidentally ordered Clover Armour hooks. Now I am feeling better about my boo boo lol
Susan Bates hooks are wonderful.. And..They are so affordable..You can eadily have several in your fav sizes..
Just bought, but not so cheap as expected :X
Last time used such tools maybe .... 20y ago :F
And i remember like yesterday.. most annoying thing was yarn.. when it was moving too much..
Thanks for your review. I totally agree with you!!!
I bought a set because everyone raved how smooth they were. I was so disappointed when I got them as I experienced a lot of drag when I used them. They weren’t “like butte” like other crocheted claimed. The 4.5mm also had a defect under the neck. It is a little piece of metal that runs from front to back.
I have them and love them!
Hi there I picked up one hook and loved it, I have now purchased the set, do you still like using them. Thanks really like your channel,
Awesome video!! thank you just wondering does that grippy part ever become loose?
I love them too!
Love these hooks💕
B.hooked Crochet Both the steel and aluminum sets that I found are 9pcs and sizes range from 2mm-6mm. Which would you recommend?
i like thank u
I got this and was very excited to start working with them but as I was working on a project with a thicker yarn I found the hook just came out from the colorful grip. It really dissaponted me . Any solution to it ?
Now..if they would just make them like this in the steel sizes! lol :)
Lol yes, and a 6.5mm would be really nice too!
AgainEven they do make them in Steel sizes now
AgainEven they do make the smaller steel hooks too
I have the steel hook set. They are gorgeous and fun to use. 💕
I was just looking on line how do you know what set is the the real ones.
I know it probably because I have small hands and turn the hook to catch the yarn but I really don’t know why it has to have its name raised like that.
hi, I'm new with crochet… I just got a familytown crochet hooks from amazon, is it same nice as Clover amour crochet hooks or so much different? thank you… ^^
I was looking for this set on Amazon . What set are these called? some of them look the same to me. i see soft touch ect. which ones are these? :)
I really enjoy these hooks, too. My only regret is that they don't have a size K.
Mine too. I ended up purchasing a Tulip Etimo K and I love it!
They make size k or 6.5mm now. Got it at Wal-Mart weirdly enough.
The BEST crochet hooks are Susan Bates! :)
Hello, I have hooks from Tulip Etimo. I was thinking to try the CLover Amour. Did you try the Tulip? Are they better?
Would you suggest these hook's.
Hi, been trying to look at reviews . All my crochet hooks are old school
from the 80's and 90's. lol I want to start up again , been a long
while. I want to replace mines with some new ones. I see that the latest
fad is the comfy grip. Which I think would stop the hurting of hours of
crocheting. lol So my question is, I am not sure what make or brand to
buy that is the best for your buck. I am a little fussy on how smooth
the stitch is pulled through, how comfortable it is and if it snags. If I
am going to buy a set I want them to be it for a long time without
regret. But I don't want to spend a fortune. Would you be able to
suggest any brands that may be what I am looking for since you do
reviews. thank you so much. this has been driving me nuts and has
prolonged me longer than I wanted. lol I would really like some help.
ginger :)
hold on to at least one set of the "old" hooks....I was making a stuffed duck incorping the "loop" stitch....the newer hooks I have did not leave enough room to do the stitch.
Hi just started to crochet ...do larger hooks make larger stitcher ?
That's great! Yes, they sure do. This is part of a concept called gauge. It's a great thing for a beginner to learn!
I need these hooks so badly....
Me too
You appear to be using knife-style grasp of the hook.
The thumb rest is very nice and is in the perfect position for either.
that's funny because I just bought one set of those and they accidentally gave me two and in my package they were coming apart
Does the rubber slide out?
No
How much is a whole set? Do they deliver to hong kong?
You can get a set on amazon.com for around $45. I believe you should be able to have them delivered to Hong Kong.
I ordered a set couple days ago. Cant wait to get them!
Can you buy it any elsewhere
I have seen them available at Joann Fabrics and Crafts and a few local yarn stores. You can purchase them from Clover-usa.com and amazon.com.
@@bhookedcrochet you can buy them at Walmart as well too
They are great if yoiu hold your hook like a pencil. If you hold it held up the other way it ain't so cool!!!
I have the set and I made a case for them.
These hooks were designed specifically for my clumsy overly large man hands. No one can tell me otherwise.
woman or man makes no difference
Sorry but I didn't like this video. I loved it. It have me enough reasons why I should get this.

Gave* :D
That's great! I'm so glad you loved this review. They are amazing hooks and I just know you'll be thrilled with them!
