Kym, you will appreciate this, Oscar reminds me so much of Alan Jones, totally committed, hard as nails, completely focused, ans as my great mate Sal Sansonetti (a name you may have heardform the 70's with his twin brother Remo) said, he's got the c,,t in him! I can even see a vague small facial resemblance! To me Oscar has the speed, the focus, the ability to be extremely consistent, and of course his total demeanour, to be a multiple WDC. Plus the fact he is a Melbourne boy! Even if he is a bloody Tiges fan!
I'm waiting for a universal mount that supports wireless charging, then I'll gladly use their products.
I like the guy, shows up, kicks ass, refuses too elaborate and leaves.
a potential kimi replacement
@@ciw8688 Talentwise perhaps, but not personality
Like Kimmy, huh?
Absolutely!
@@pao_2031 ..like he's a Michael Schumacher clone... a bloke that also had a quiet personality.
Piastri is ruthless, I love his driving and his attitude. There's plenty of room in his helmet unlike some who's heads can barely fit in the car!!
That's such a well put comment to be honest.
😂 that was saucy but very true
I guess the second fiddle had a better tune .
He can afford ruthless attitude. Zero dnf's, never demolished the car. Unlike Lando and Charles. Edit Max, Perez and Carlos also have dnf's. Even easier for Oscar to overtake aggressively in the rest of the races this year. That is his advantage.
Maybe, but he won’t do it without the best car just like most of the previous champions and if McLaren aren’t on top for next year he won’t simples.
kinda like Raikkonen
Was a fantastic move from Oscar into turn one, and a fantastic steal by Mclaren too from Alpine. As for Lando, def not arrogant, I think he's just struggling a bit mentally at the moment.
Without a doubt Piastri will be a WC. He has an amazing attitude and all the skills needed to grow into one of the best ever.
Oscar is essentially a reincarnated Raikoneen, can't wait to see him as a multi world champ 100%!
He is nothing like Kimi. Lmao.
He is far from Kimi, just watch his interviews.
He isn’t kimi he’s Oscar, he’s his own person
Hes not, grow up.
Bwoah
Oscar
I am a massive Lando Norris fan, obviously I would rather land over at one but you cannot argue under any circumstances did Oscar did not deserve that win. Absolutely impeccable drive. Awesome sportsmanship pushing the limits without being dangerous. A fantastic drive. And 100% deserved
Future future world champion?
Yes, I think he will be 💪🏻
The best race I seen in a time, Oscar and Charles drove like true future champions , no yellows flags or pace car till the last couple of laps ' which is amazing for a street race.
No safety cars because Sargeant wasn't there!!!!
@@dynomiterecords4348 HAHAHAHA, I will not argue with that, he's replacement Colapinto scored points and kept up Albon all weekend👍
Lando seemed generous in his praise for Oscar's win. It sounded genuine to me.
Lando is a bitter little boy who took 8 years to achieve what Oscar has achieved in a few months
@@Justanaccountforthings and you have achieved nothing even comparable to what these guys did, so why the hate? The only bitter person is you here
@@kas16769 I’m not an f1 driver but if I was I’d probably be better than you
@@Justanaccountforthings 6 years not 8 but damn, why the salt? Oscar is pretty good but he caught McLaren on the way up, Lando had to drive very subpar McLarens.
@@Justanaccountforthingsthe thing is, would you be better than Lando?
Oscar will be the world drivers champion in 2025.
The Bearman family does a great job supporting their children in their sporting activities. Their dad owns a major insurance company in Britain so it is within their financial means. But the personal involvement the parents take is wonderful to see.
But,will the car be competitive to win the championship? At the start of the season we all expected Red bull dominance and look what happened.
@@hipotenuza5663 good question. Give him a lack of rule changes for 2025. I would think it will be quite competitive.
Well, technically he is still in range for this season as well. Suuure, 91 points deficit is a lot but there are still 206 points theoretically to take for perfect score. And with Norris/Leclerc in mix as well, anything can happen until finale of season =))
@@elmurcis1 Your arithmetic is correct, but assumes that Max won't score any more points. Max must be enjoying the fact that while he's not winning, all of his challengers are in a rotating roster to grab the big points.
@@elmurcis1 It's an almost insurmountable difference. Max chasers are reliant on a DNF from him... then yes, it would be crazy.
0:19 love that shot

Lando has been my favorite driver since his rookie debut. As of this weekend, Oscar is now my favorite F1 driver! 🙌 Great time to be a Papaya fan
They are both likeable young men
That’s like supporting Man City until Chelsea start winning….
How easily you've changed the driver you supported.
I highly recommend watching the podcast with Oscars mum. Tons of insights into his character! When you hear about how he was as a child, his cool, smart demeanor now makes perfect sense
What’s the podcast called?
Red Flags podcast @@kayelle8005
@@kayelle8005 the red flags podcast (with Nicole Piastri)
@@kilendoskingdom thank you
Love red flags podcast, they're more of a real podcast approach, not a rehearsed feeling and they have Gunther on a lot ❤
How Ocar and leclrec raced hard and close for an hour with no contact. Really shows the difference in pure talent among the drivers .
Very much in with a chance. He definitely has the potential. I hope he supports Lando for the rest of the season to help his chances, then next season it's going to be game on. 🇬🇧🤝🇦🇺
Love your input , no one else explains the vibe of the paddock like you ! Please continue your good work
I predict Oscar in the championship role before Lando. He's got the cojones to do it.
As an aside, obvious live testimonials to the Halo in both F1 and F2 this weekend
Piastri's win was sealed with or without the crash. Leclercs tyres were toast, Oscar had broken the DRS and was going away. The crash actually saved Leclerc who was looking vulnerable to the pair behind.
Piastri just gets it done
Kym, you appeared briefly on Teds Baku notebook walking with Andrea Stella at the back of the paddock after the race
Good to know
Another awesome video Kym. Thank you
You are so welcome!
I always thought Piastri had bigger ideas when he won in Hungary, but he clearly didn't consider that his win. He wanted to win proper. Very cool head about him.
He is a bit of an iceman. Very light on emotion and in F1 this can be a winner... the drive to perfection married with a calm head in tense competitive situations, usually results in a positive outcome for the driver. Thinking back to the greats; Senna & Shoemaker, and of course the iceman himself Räikkönen. They rarely showed any emotion other than quiet confidence.
Its a shame Franco gets the boot after Carlos arrives, the lad is quick
I heard a rumor stake’s considering Franco and I’m really hoping it’s true
Only Kym can give us the true reason why that cooling fan was still attached to Alex's car in quali !!! Thanx mate!
If the car remains dominant, he will win next year 😎
People forget that factor ....
Colapinto is a class act.
Yeah I see a very future for both he and Bearman
Lando taking his shoes off before getting champagned is the most fashionista/brilliant thing ever
I wonder if he found his shoes after the celebration? Because the mechanics used to throw them.
F2 definitely is live on Kayo in Australia I watched piastris whole f2 season
Good guy. Unlucky for Norris. He is gonna kick his ass
The new guard has arrived, these are the future stars of F1.
Great overtake by piastri and great job by lando protecting him from the undercut by perez. Also the pace and tyre management from lando went under the radar a little but he was faster than the top 3 when they were on the new hards. It’s too bad the yellow flag put lando in 15th.
Yeah could easily have been a McLaren 1 2
Good to see you in good spirits after Oscars gangbuster win ! Cheers Kum Illman!
Way to go Oscar-nit an easy task!! Love from Canada 🇨🇦
He’s definitely a very intelligent racer. Aggressive and very fast. Really enjoy watching him race. 👍👍🇬🇧
Shades of Alonso v Schumacher at Imola in 2005
Your reports are the best, Kym. And your travel-related content is equally good.
Well, I just missed a flight today so the next video will be a good one
I agree!
100%! No doubt that Oscar with his calm and collective driving style will become World Champion.
short answer: YES!
Piastri is still improving but so is Lando.
Hard to say who is the better driver.
Interesting times ahead, for sure!
quite impressive for the other 2 Colapinto and Bearman
Yeah I see a bright future for both rookies - And both scored their first points
@kimillman Kim, I'm a Pom, in Pomland, I'd like to say I now turn to your channel by default for your unbiassed, proffesional, inciteful & detailed reports. I love the calm and measured delivery, the opposite to many (especially your excitable shouty American contemporaries 😄).
Great channel. Antony.
Happy to read these sort of messages all day long. Many thanks.
I really admire Piastri's temperament. He is very level headed & just gets on with the job, unlike many of the drivers on the grid, who have become whiners, Le Clerc & Norris in particular. In my 57 years of following F1, that was one of the most spirited drives I've ever seen. He is definitely my current favourite.
Piastri definitely is a future F1 World Champion, I've already said that when he was still driving in F2.
Kimi was Iceman. Oscar is Iceboy? Icecube?
as a Lewis supporterid honestly say that this young man is great, yes a future possible champion,it was a very exciting race, but good luck Lando
So easy to be an Aussie following this sport with two great ambassadors for F1 and our country in Oscar and Danny. 💕🇦🇺
Danny is the opposite of everything Aussie
People love to hate unfortunately and Norris seems to cop it alot.
I don't see his arrogance, I see him as massively self critical and that's why he tends to look dejected after something happens.
Oscar is next level, his defence was amazing and just flexed his incredible race craft! Such a good race 🍻
@KymIllman 6:17 That's Paolo, his engineer from MP Motorsports
Thanks
Piastri's win is historic..... it wasn't influenced by anything. 100% Piastri involved win.
I don't think Norris is arrogant. I agree I don't see that i do see he's insecure & a little unsure of himself but that's it. It's also the reason that could hold him back from winning a World title.
He did come from 15th to 4th so he's absolutely no slouch & I think he's a great kid.
Franco & Beirman did great & Oscar is so fun to watch ! True champ 🤘🏻🏁
Get ready to hear the Australian national anthem at least 5 times next year
Only future will tell, but he does have the attitude.
His overtake was Stellar!
I happened to be visiting Melbourne one year during the Grand Prix many years ago before I was a fan. I was staying at The Langham along with multiple F1 teams, including Ferrari and got to see them at breakfast. Also saw Mark Weber sitting on his own one evening. As an Aussie he was the only driver I recognised. I didn’t see anyone approach him for an autograph. Seemed like everyone was giving him space to not be hassled.
I love his commitment in his moves
he has potential, esp with the car performing well too. Time will tell though. You need consistancy over a LOT of races even when car and conditions are not the best !
Piastri is a quiet achiever
Lando used to be arrogant. But not anymore. He came back down to earth lasr year after realising his team mates ability. Back up a couple of years, I remember all the cocky comments he made. smh. Im glad he's more mature now.
Lando is in 24/7 sui mode
Franco's eyes on close up reminds me of Ayrton
Oscar is the "Iceman" 2.0!!
What excitement we have a ahead of us!
Oscar World Champ next year!?
In the epic book " The Right Stuff" by Tom Wolfe, there is a recurring phrase he used referring to the pitfalls top Test Pilots and Astronauts faced in their careers. "It could blow at any seam". It is no less true for F1 Drivers.
Thank you so much for the best and so unique f1 insider content, your personality is so wholesome 🙏🏻 🎉❤
You are so welcome!
Yes, the best Aussie F1 driver since Jack Brabham.
Could be better than Jack
Oscar is a fabulous talent. Franco really impressed too, would be a shame for him to be on the sidelines next year, don’t know what the Sauber situation is but perhaps someone will give him a go in 2026?
Excellent as always.
Absolutely... I think even more so than Norris... some will probably not like it that I say this, but I think it's so. Piastri does well under pressure, keeps his head cool... Norris tends to heat up a bit more under pressure and make (small) mistakes. Norris is not arrogant, but he's feeling the pressure and is kinda surfing the emotions.
Have you seen, on Total Motorsport, the flexi DRS-flap on Oscars car?
All cars wings flex under load. What's your point?
So let’s hope that McLaren appreciates Oscar’s driving abilities and pay him the appropriate salary or compensate him accordingly, tx Kym another top episode, mate you also appeared on Skysports and F1 tv you bloody legend 👍🤩
So proud of him! ❤❤❤❤
Thanks Kym, always quality content 🍻
The new generation are looking good!
'The Dark Knight' humble enough to offer a few words of encouragement to a bright young 'rookie', Colopinto; remembering the time in 2007, when he had none other than Fernando 'Don Quixote' Alonso to 'welcome' his rookie self. . .
From the land of the 'immortal' 5×F1 GP WDC TITLES Juan Manuel Fangio and the dashing Carlos Reutemann, newbie Franco Colopinto; and, compatriot of the legendary Sir 'LionHeart' Lewis, oh so British, second time in F1, Oliver Bearman; both 'Young Guns' making their career breakout statements, in Williams and Haas race cars respectively; and those cars are recognisably (and neither in recent history), so not among the top notch drives. . .
Yes, he definitely is
There is a long way to go. It depends on the car and team. Potential, yes, but a long way to go
Hey kym I love your videos can't wait to see your next one
There's a cracking travel video coming soon!
@@KymIllman Can't wait
Oscar was mega through the esses before the main strait every single lap....the reason he was able to fend off Charles for so long.
It’s not that Lando is arrogant, he’s just super immature. He hasn’t learned much in 5 years, whereas Oscar is constantly perfecting.
He got the skill and mentality to be a WDC
Lando is immature, not arrogant. Piastri is a professional.
10:16 👏
I've always thought PS3 would be the one to de-throne Max
Good stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it
Are we forgetting the team orders win ?
Absolutely
I've been saying he'll be champion before Norris. Piastri is a quiet assassin. Edit: I called him a quiet assassin before I watched the full video, only to realize Kym said it first😅
Nothing about Kick Sauber having the fastest pit stop 2.32 s in Baku.
maybe!
How 'bout that second national anthem experience? What a spectacular drive by this young man.
I sung that at primary school in Australia
Yes. And he is likely to get there before Lando, unless Lando gets there this year
Yes, right car , he can be Aussies next world champion
Hey Kim, Nice job on some niche vids.
WHY are there so few fans at Baku ? Over-priced for locals , political situation ???
It's a question of when, not if.
10 HUGE points for Williams this weekend!
Hoping Albon and Colapinto can have a strong end to the season
Williams is that team that does pretty well in one race then disappears in the next one
F2 and F3 champion - F1 champion (multi) is a given IMHO
bearman siblings sounding like the norris siblings
Yes….and possibly before Lando 😮
Short answer: Yes! Definitely!
You missed Colapinto's post-race interview with F1TV where I forgot his water bottle.
100% yes
Looks like it McLarens turn to win races !
