Because my hair is fine low to medium density, I tend to seek out videos with people who have my same texture and loc count so in that regard, it’s important. Your hair is gorgeous.
Welcome! My locs were installed on the 19th and I'm doing absolutely nothing until my loctitian does my retie in 3 weeks. My goal is to minimize slippage during the first year. I'm leaving it up to my loctitian to shampoo my locs until it's okay for me to do so. I'm completely new as well and researched at least a couple of years before making the decision.
Yay!!! I finally found someone who is newly loc’d like me. Mine was established on 1/17/24 so I’m right there with you. My hair is soft and fine too, so I know your scalp battle all too well. Here’s to healthy scalps and flourishing locs! 🌱🌱 Oh, I think the loc count thing is preference at this point. At least for me anyway. I have no idea how many locs I have. If I get bored one day, maybe I’ll count them.🤷🏾♀️
Hello, may I ask how you’re doing with your salt and pepper low density locs? I’m gradually becoming more salt than pepper and wondering how they will look with new growth.
I just got my micro locs done 3 days ago. March 14th, 2024. My hair is very fine and low density as well. I contemplated for 2 years. I am on this journey with . My hair is very scalpy and I had no curl pattern on my sides so I added perm rods on the ends for curls. My loctician is going to maintain mine. But your hair is beautiful. We are in this together!!!!
Awwwww they're so cute!! I got my install on the 23rd, I also have fine hair and it is definitely giving scalp lol. Im excited though! My loctician will maintain for the next year because,,,,I'm lazy when it comes to my hair. It's about a good 24 inches and was done like yours (braided then twisted). I will follow your journey. Good luck doll!!
Your hair looks great! My hair has always been thick up until a few years ago. I'm seriously thinking about getting microlocs installed. After seeing your hair, I feel encouraged to go ahead and get mine done.
We are hair twins! I have fine hair as well. When washing my hair I braid and band then wait until it is completely dry before I take it down. I was constantly losing loc’s because my hair is fine and soft. Today is my 5 month loc-anniversary. Your hair will get fluffy and fill in. Now you can only see my grid when I get a retie. I will be following your journey.
Your hair really nice your hair will thicken. I felt the same way now I’m four years in thicker a the length haters are saying I have extensions . No I went through what I called the ugly stage I love my locs.
Thank you so much for this video.♥ It was exactly what I was looking for an needed. After installing my own micro locs diy. My hair is the same with the itching and I will take a chance because my scalp will itch if not washed after 5 days. Great idea. I have nothing to lose as I don't trust anyone else to do "my" hair.
Good that you knew to braid and band! Next time try leaving your braids in until it completely dries. You can use a low heat blow dryer or good dryer if you don’t want to air dry. But you will find that your waves will be more defined and less frizz and unraveling than when it’s taken down. Your loctician may also advise against any oils for now because you’ll lubricate your strands which slows your locking process as well. You’re gonna love your hair!!!
Your locs look great, im 3months in and Im so happy, only advise I would give is the leave your hair braided and banded until its fully dry. Slippage happens when not dry and especially because your hair is so fine. The itching is real, I itch a lot less but i have tried at least 3 shampoos and finally I got what works for me. Enjoy your journey
The look gorgeous. I’m 5 weeks in and the parts are less visible in the back but the top is very short and scalpy. I’m wearing head wraps until it gets a little fuller. I’m retired and I’m home most of the time.
Congratulations!! Literally finished my set last night. Took about 2 weeks, between work and life. This is my 3rd set. First 2 set I did comb coils. I wanted big locs but my hair said denied! lol. Ended up looking like a had big parts with little locs because of density. My hair is mixed textures, with fine, thin, low density ear to ear in the front and kinkier, tighter, thicker density in the back, behind the ear, from crown to nape. Weird. I also use sea salt mixed with distilled water in a spray bottle to loc faster. Mimics ocean water. Dries my hair out. Soft hair can unravel from the slightest bit of moisture from shower or sweat. Love my locs. Just make sure to color your hair before install.
@@keeksdiary and DID! LMBO!!! And you really won't know your outcome until you grow them out, which sucks. They were soooo pretty and fluffy the first 6 to 7 months, then, BAM, the denial letter with ya lil deposit of time and effort sent back, attached to big parting spaces and skinny, condensed locs.. Took my time on this set. Nobody has a whole year of time to waste only to have to pick them out and start over. Again.. Yours look absolutely FAB 💕💕
Pretty! I counted my locs because I wanted to add loc extensions. I installed my own locs on Feb. 19 to my fine hair and they are not micro, but are still thinner looking locs. But I absolutely love them! It's been a little over a month now.🎉🎉
Thanks for sharing your journey. I am getting my locs installed in February. I know I have fine hair but I am not certain of the density. I will continue to follow and am excited to see our locs grow!
Your hair looks really cute!! I just started mines Jan 3 2024. I never thought I would get locks because I change my hairstyles ALL of the time. However, like you said, I had some friends with beautiful sisterlocs so I decided to go for.,Although I have low density hair, I am loving it!!! And my hair is growing so fast. Good luck on the rest of your loc journey
I’m glad UA-cam recommended your channel. I have fine hair and want locs. I’m glad to see someone with hair like mine. I will be following your journey
Great video and you are gorgeous. I've been natural for almost 11 years. My microloc appointment is on 02/23/24. Been researching for about 3 years before committing. I can't wait! Wishing you well on your journey. 🙏🏾💜
Your hair looks great look up ( Dr Ash and her make up ) she had very low density hair she is about three years in and her hair is beautiful so I can see your hair getting fuller and thicker . Trust the process
Locced 12/3! I so hear you on the fine and low density!!! Nothing but scalp!!!!! Lol. Usually they say not to wash your hair for at least 1-2 weeks but with our hair texture, yeah washing that loc product out is understandable given anything heavy weighs our hair texture down. My hair didn’t fluff until week 3, going onto week 4 with my first install. I was like “um where’s the body ody ody” it’s finally arrived and I’m going onto my 2nd retie. Good luck and thank you for sharing your journey!!!
Thanks for sharing… I had my consultation today. This is encouraging bc I have fine low density hair. I was worrying about the scalpy look. Appreciate the video and your journey. ❤
hello Keeks, so glad I found your channel. I'm considering micro locs and I have fine low density hair too. I'm doing so much research to make sure before I commit.
Hey keeks, thanks for shearing your jorney. I'm willing to make microlocs but my hear is also very low density. I think me more than yours. So i'm still not quite so sure if it will come fine. I had dreadlocks before and removed the last year. And even with dreadlocks it didn't get so density but i liked the way it looked. I was just tired cause it has been really very long time i made. More than 10 years. So...., but now i miss them kkk. That's why i'm thinking of doing again but this time, microlocs cause i think they are much lighter and soft than the dreadlocks. So, i will always check on you to see how are you copping with them. Wish tou the best. Keep well
They are beautiful welcome to the loc world. Talk to your loctician about using OGX Moroccan sea salt spray on your locs. I have a client whose hair is very fine and low density. This has really help her hair to bud way sooner than I expected.
I believe counting locs is a shenanigan started with sisterlocks. I heard a microcosm say, over 400 is considered sisterlocks size or something like that. I currently have 359 microtwists waiting to loc but gonna change to interlocs.
Congrats! I am doing DYI locs but I am interlocking the whole way. I am hoping that the twist did not come out since you washed so soon. If you feel your scalp itching prior to the time to shampoo, try apple cider vinegar and water (50/50) and spray on scalp. you can also add tea tree oil to a carrier oil and use your finger tips to apply to that area. (by the way, I am not a loctician but I have done hair for over 30 years and have my license. So have done everything from braids, locs and weaves/perm styles) All the best on your journey!
Hello! :) (Replying to your number of locs question) I too just started my journey yesterday! (March 17, 2024). I did quite a bit of research but that was because the people I would see on my IG timeline or TikTok fyp were people with beautiful developed locs, but had completely different textures to me, which could mean if I got similar sized locs, I might not have the same results as them. So, because of my hair density and texture, I figured that if I could find someone with developed locs that I liked and that had a closer hair texture and density to mine, I could ask my loctician to aim for a similar number of starter locs on my head so that my developed locs would look similar (hopefully). That was my reasoning though; not sure if others feel this way or if there is a bigger reason to ask the amount of locs one has.
According to my loctician any amount under 400 is not sister locs and the information is based on the founder(s) of sisterlocs. This is second hand information, please don’t quote me 😊
Basically our fine hair gurlz want to know your count because we really want to figure out how thick or thin our hair is during our journey. We also want to know how it will thicken up over time and what size our DIY Locs should look like. Anyways I DIY Installed my braid locs almost 3 months ago and my head I have about 190 to 200 braid locs. My locs are a little thicker than yours. 😅
Because my hair is fine low to medium density, I tend to seek out videos with people who have my same texture and loc count so in that regard, it’s important. Your hair is gorgeous.
