    One thing we should normalize is our natural face with no makeup. You do not look crazy. You look normal. You look fine!! And it’s ok to be comfortable in your skin and posting without makeup on. Other peoples opinion about it don’t matter. Hugs

    I love it! ❤ I have been wearing my micro locs/ Sisterlocks for over 23 years. I have also been a micro loc stylist for 23 years. You did a great job and I applaud you. 👏🏾. Continue to educate yourself on the process and know that your locs will evolve and change over time. I have taken a couple of your classes and made a wig or two for myself…yes you can wear a wig over them even when they’re mature locs. 😊 You did a wonderful job!

      Thank you so much!! I’m learning so much but there’s also lots of conflicting information.
      Thank you for the support!! A huge reason why I chose to do them so small is so I can still wear wigs when I want. With them smaller I can make them flatter. At least for now. I don’t know what they will look like when they loc.

    Welcome to the family!! They look great and you did an amazing DIY job!! Small locs are something else to maintain😂 but as long as you’re consistent you should be good. Definitely recommend having somebody else do the re-ties unless you know you have the time and patience for it.
    I started my locs myself on 4/20/20. Before I started combining I had 311 locs and was just dying to have more😂!! I’ve since combined some of them and I have no clue how many I have now lol. I have to do an updated count, but I think I’m in the neighborhood of maybe 290-ish

    I'm currently starting my microlocs with interlocks. I've done them with two strand twists and the one thing I will say is that rope twists take longer to "loc" then just regularly two strand twisting your hair. Watching En Toi's videos on here has been helpful for me.
    I don't think the grid is all that important, except for styling. You did an amazing job on your day install.

    • @marquettabreslin
      @marquettabreslin  Рік тому

      That’s the one thing I’m wondering if I should have done instead of the two strand twist method! My biggest reason for not starting them with interlock is because of the time. I had a short window to do it and couldn’t wait months to get in with a loctician.
      I’m sure yours will be beautiful!!

    Hi Marquette, you’ve done a good job with your starter locks, I was considering locking my hair, because am always in mini twist, you should’ve tried mini twist and treat it like locks to see if you would like it, but you probably will, am the same as you, I cannot wear braids, I had some put in, they were out the next day, I just kept having headaches, the smallest tension in my hair, makes me miserable 😂 so I stick to wearing my own hair, I choose comfort over hairstyle

  • @emeth1455
    @emeth1455 Рік тому

    You did a great job on your hair. I love to wear wigs, but I am like you. If it becomes tight on my scalp, I will take a wig off while driving. I don't get headaches, but it will feel like a vice grip on my head. I can't stand to wear braids. The braids are too heavy for my head. I wanted to do micro locs, but my density was too low for them, so I thought. Your locs look good, and our density looks about the same. I will do them.

  • @arielbrown
    @arielbrown Рік тому +2

    Your love look amazing. I did my sister super tiny and when it was time to retwist I did have to combine some together, only because they were to tiny. I noticed that when I started interlocking you must do the full rotation and make sure thetest rotation is going down to lay the loc flat. If you don't finish like that you run the risk of having the loc get knots and baby it becomes a mess getting the knot out .

    I too have been CON-TEMPLATING! O did my own locs in 2001 after I created all the prosthetic locs for Bad Boys 2. O figured how to cheat and not have to do picky-starter-locs. I wore then for 3 years and totally enjoyed them. I eventully picked them out, to prove that it was possible. That took 6 months and many hands. My Salon Assistant, my mother, my SUN, my boyfriend. All at different times for as long as my hyper self could sit or sleep.
    I did Micro-Loc Extensions on my sister's hair last year. She has so much darn hair. I shaved off about 2/3 of it from the temples to the nape. The Family Hook-Up has consequences😅. I started one day and worked on it for 7 hours. She never came back to finish it for about 6 weeks. That took another 9 hours. Lawd. I know I was not going to do any retying. She goes some place else and complains about how much they charge.
    I like the cornrow template and would definitely consider doing that on myself. I'll be adding extensions though. Will keep you posted when I do.

    They are beautiful. I just started my journey, although I haven't locked it yet, I wanted to make sure that they were the right size first. Wow you said that you have over 500, and I was thinking that my 216 was very small, and I have thick hair, so I believe that I can break them down some more. Thanks for your video.

      I did my daughter's hair and she came out with 215 twists...just curious did you break them down more or is 215 a good number? She has thick curly hair

      @@tericatharpe6240 Hi yes I did break it down more, because I notice that, they were to thick in some of them. I went to around 390. The smaller they were, I had more movement, body.

    I started my own locs August 22, I wish I waited because I love how your friend braided your hair in sections. I started mine with tiny braids but it's not that neat and definitely bigger in the back, I was tired and it took me about a week. I didn't count mine. Plus I lost 2 locs 😢
