No we aren't the sum of our mistakes but when we put people in ministry who are demonstrating abusive qualities they need to be removed and counseled . The black church has enabled and protected abusive church culture , we have fallen in love with our traditions that make the Word of no effect instead of falling in love with Christ. The bitter , scary, sassy black preacher is not a true reflection of the fathers heart . I strongly feel the fatherless and orphan spirit that is rampant in the black community and simultaneously our churches is the root cause of this loveless behavior.
Someone recorded her preaching at her church about homosexuals. But she obviously is friends with so many in the world, so she got called out by those celebs and many others- for preaching the word. Maybe she was supposed to say things differently but that’s the danger in wanting to be friends with the world, more than a friend of God. Also, the way she spoke in her sermon, is not the way you hear her speak on the shows etc.
I would have been on board with Mrs. Adams had I not seen a video from ages ago - before Kim lost a lil weight - and she was being that same nasty person we’ve seen in recent years. As black people, we’re already held to a higher societal standard then others we cohabitate with. As “Christian’s,” specifically those that voluntarily testify that they were chosen by God to lead a flock and minister to people all over the world, that standard is boundless. Yes, we are humans nonetheless and as such we are subject to sin regardless of a title, but at what point do we stop overlooking a repeated offensive behavior and hold these individuals accountable? I don’t believe in alienating anyone, because we all experience our own struggles and fight many silent battles and although I may continuously push you away, I’m listening and absorbing what’s being fed to me and once I change my mindset, I can begin to change my life! I think most of us will agree that we love Kim and we adore her talent as there isn’t a soul on earth at this moment that I’m aware of that could come close to her vocal abilities, but just as she feels “moved” to “tell it like it is” or my favorite church folk phrase precursor “what thus saith the Lord,” the flock that she shepherds doesn’t have to bow down and follow her off the side of a hill! I'm glad God is not like man 90% of the time you do good in your life 10% you may do bad and people's will forget about that 90% of good, and judge you on that 10% of bad... You can be forgiven for any sin if you repent except for the portable sin and only God's elect can commit that unforgivable sin but I don't believe none of them will commit that sin....
