I wouldn't be surprised if producers tried to get them to mock contestants. It's what practically made American Idol so big when it first started so a lot of shows, even local programs, were emulating the formula. I just don't think it's fitting for anything Christian.

The fact that Kim has repeatedly been cited for this over the years says a lot. And she actually doubled-down on the rudeness when he called her on it. The footage shows Yolanda telling him to come back next year, so he did just that. Burrell just isn't a nice person.
I have witnessed Kim be rude several times. He wasn’t wrong. I was at a taping of Sunday Best and Donnie ate this lil 15 year old girl up she was in tears. They can be rude, inconsiderate & arrogant. Be mindful people have feelings and souls. Be kind too

This was a beautiful spirit and I’m glad he spoke up for himself. How would you feel if you’re in a professional audition and people start laughing. He was getting his feedback one judge talking to him while another’s laughing. Kim Burrell rudely said she was talking about something else? Should you do that when you’re supposed to be judging his talent ? They were rude,uncouth, disrespectful and unprofessional. No class at all but he set them straight!!!!

I thought I was the only one for years that saw this happen, Kim is extremely talented vocally, but that attitude made me not buy any of her music or want to ever see her again. Hard to believe she pastors a church. That wasn’t the only incident of her laughing at the contestants either, she is a stain on the black churches and to see Donnie whom I thought a lot of go alone with her really made me sad 😢 these contestants are pouring their hearts 💕 out to supposedly people of GOD and being mocked. Shame on all of them. Glad the show is off the air.

I've said this before when it first aired & I will say this until God calls me home to my mansion on high... No, Dennis was not wrong for standing up for himself!!!! And for Kim "Big Back" Burrell & Dionne (not Donnie) McClurkin to sit there and show their true Christian character like that was totally unacceptable. If for whatever reason their inside joke was, it should have WAITED until after the contestant left the stage. And to show you that their behavior was unacceptable, it took Kierra Sheard to call it out! She said "Don't worry about them, ok...don't worry about them for right now. Listen to what I'm saying"... And Yolanda Adams said "please" as in agreeance to what Kierra was saying...And then watch how Kierra covers her face up when Dennis begins to read Big Back Kim like oh, lawd, he's about to go off on them. Now the only fault I've found with Dennis is that he should have read Dionne a new asshole as well! Because he was just as guilty as big back Kim. And Yolanda knew that they were wrong for laughing for whatever reason during that man's audition. That's why she kept nodding her head like yes, check em. There's no excuse whatsoever. What is Dennis suppose to think if they started laughin during his audition? Nothing more than they are laughing at him. So No no no no, Dennis Christopher Brigham was not wrong for checking Kim Big Back Burrell!!!

GOOD FOR HIM!! As a flutist I've been on many many auditions and the judges NEVER EVER had side conversations and laughter. They would take notes, ask for me to step out of the room to have discussions and then have me come back in. They were rude AF.
I remember this, and he was absolutely right then and now. Blessings to him.

This is exactly why I quit watching Sunday's Best. Kim Burell is rude, and a very poor representative for the body of Christ. If they weren't laughing at him they were still disrespecting him because they weren't giving him the full attention and respect any contestant deserves.

He checked them both and it was warranted, the guy said that he used his rent money to get there in order to be able to audition. Sometimes when we "make it" we forget what it's like to make sacrifices but he quickly brought Kim and Donnie back to reality. One thing about Yolanda Adams, she has been through a lot in her life and those experiences have taught her to be careful in how you treat others. She's very thoughtful and she's very careful what comes out of her mouth in addition to musical notes.

Whether they were laughing at him, or a situation totally unrelated, Pastor Donnue and Pastor Kim were rude, and unprofessional. The Bible says there is a time and place for all things. They are human, and messed up, but they should have humbled themselves and apologized the moment they realized their behavior offended him. We aren't above any one else.
I wish more young(and old) people would start standing up in righteousness and calling these prideful, arrogant, cold hearted pharisee spirited "leaders" out like this young man did!

He had guts I would have never done what he did, but I thought the laughter wasn’t a great idea even though they may have been laughing at something else it’s really a vulnerable time for artists who are trying to break into the industry and a little more consideration for the contestants feelings would have shown a greater level of compassion and professionalism. If they apologized to him that was admirable and hopefully this is a lesson that they can grow and glean from in future events.

Came back over to watch since kim is trending again today. This young man tried to tell us a long time ago that woman had a mean spirit.
He was 1000 percent right! That even made me mad! And I think if they haven't it would be kind to at least give the contestants some type of compensation for auditioning to get back home...because he may not have been the only one making that type of sacrifice to be there and even if not picked the appreciation would be felt for coming .

I totally agree with this young man. Both Bonnie and Kim were very disrespectful. Whatever they both claimed to have been discussing and laughing about should not have came during and after the young man had finished singing, and simple. They're suppose to be the so-called professional and their behavior did everything but show their professionalism.
Auditions can make one beyond scared, nervous and off key. They don't make the situation any easier for those who audition. That's his time and he at least should.have their attention, it's only a few minutes anyway. They were wrong in my opinion, and I too say that they were laughing at how this person sang, and they can deny that they weren't laughing until the cows come home.
He was telling the truth just because they are Gospel singers and God!!! Blessed them to sing . This is a show it was rude of them and disrespectful to not give them their undivided attention, Keira already said to the young man , ignore them come on that's just was rude to laugh . I am proud of him to speak his truth… it was unprofessional for 2 of my favorite vocalists to laugh… even if the “laughter wasn’t towards him” the optics depicted otherwise… Dennis you ARE SOMEBODY… not you are “gonna” be somebody… nobody deserves that kind of behavior… especially on a “Christian” based talent showcase show. We are all human, and this display definitely proved just that… this type of “judging” was the reason I didn’t feel comfortable watching the show…

I loved seeing this when it happened. EVERYONE that saw this was glad he said something. Kiera herself said “Don’t pay them any mind” or something to that effect because she also felt that they were being rude. Kim snapped back at him very defensively saying that she made up her mind as soon as he started singing or something like that.
