Absolutely Gorgeous! 😎😎 I so loved painting those VW Beetles way back when. I had some to run and some to leave on the shelf for display, and some that I left in the body kit boxes that I would have a picture taped to the end of. It felt like I was buying another body kit almost every payday for a year. My Mom kicked to the garage she was so tired of the paint smell in the basement. My Dad, god rest his soul, would just shake his head and grin as I toiled away and painting them. He would grin and laugh as they ripped up and down the street at night with all the lights I had on them..🥲 Thanks for reminding me of those memories..🥴
Absolute quality & perfection mate 👍🏻 I never get tired of seeing Sand Scorcher custom paint jobs, love it. Thanks for sharing the tip of sealing the masking tape with the first colour before moving on the second….genius 😁
@@JustforFun-xh6ld Thanks mate, appreciate the awesome comment. Mate, I’m no expert, learning all the time and happy to share the mistakes with the small wins if it can help!
It turned out super cool! All that time spent taping everything off perfectly really shows in the end result! Just flawless! I know Keith has to be in love with that body!!!
Sorry mate lol! You could still do one, he will have to build an even bigger studio! I’ll go back and check out Glenn’s channel to have a look. Cheers!
@@douggilreath1984 thanks Doug, I wasn’t either tbh, so many options. Was going to go with a Pearl yellow at one point and also looked at flat oranges and yellows. The metallics look great!
Wow...this came out great. Wonderful job masking it off and getting a nice finish.... I saw this on Keith's channel but It was really something else seeing it being all painted up on yours.. Great job!
Hey Jason, absolutely awesome Sand Scorcher body for Keith! He’s such a great guy, he’s helped me out with a Kyosho Optima, which has blown me away! So it’s super nice that you’ve been able to help him out with an awesome Sand Scorcher body. Best wishes to you and the family 🖐️😎😉
Another stunner Jason, really nice colour combo. Had a setback with my Red Yellow and ended up sanding back but all good now, just a couple more days before I hit it with the red.
@@jason.bochniak A yellow can I've had lying around for years turned out to be PS-16 (polycarbonate) not TS-16, thought I was going mad with the terrible finish :) all good now though, cheers.
@@philthompson5968 damn, that’s annoying! I think I got through 6-8 cans of yellow on mine. I’ve started warming my paints before painting in a bucket of warm water, seems to help. Good luck with the red!
Definitely a beautiful Paint Job sir. Thanks for sharing your work. Keith is definitely a chap deserving of such a masterpiece. Subscribed was a must.😊
Thanks mate. It’s just down to spending the time and working clean. I use a big magnifying light too. The tamiya masking tapes work so well, especially the white tape for curves. I just let the paint fully harden before applying it and always spray a final light coat of the colour being masked before spraying the colour that the masking is for. This helps seal the edges and prevents any bleeding as long as you’ve got the tape down nicely.
Wow thats really great paint job. I just recieved a Vintage Sand scorcher from 1980 or so. Looks amazing for it must have been a shelf Queen cause its just dirty from dust. So i am going to clean disasemble and go through cleaning and repairing any old parts. I love the push button clip up forward that you did for your friends and I would like to know how you attched this to scorcher mount tower up front. Thanks for all your time and advice.
@@alexwenzel6932 thanks Alex, no mate, no clear coat. I did think about it but there was no need, the gloss finish came out just right and I didn’t want to bugger it up. I guess clear coat would give it some durability but I know Keith will probably just display.
That paint job looks amazing. Is there any reason you didn't blend in the sunroof and headlight / nose cone? It's the first thing I did on my beatle shell.
Thanks Danny. Do you mean fill & remove the lines? I’ve seen it done but I like to see the sunroof. I left it loose, it’s taped in from the inside so it can be opened for display. I know Keith glued his open on his Ford Ranger, the front join doesn’t really bother me really. Cheers.
I didn't know if it was preference or there was another reason. I did glue my sunroof and then had the bright idea to use superglue as the filler...... yeah, that wasn't the best idea, especially when I have some milliput sat here. I did the same as you with the mould lines on the arches though. The gunmetal and burnt orange really does work though. I'm torn between 2 ford colours of Ruby red or juice green metallic
@@dannyseville2543 glue and paint cause me the most headaches lol. I’ve had plenty of problems with glue on my current Grand Hauler series, just on the last episode now, the body. Red or Green, I’m the worst person to offer advice as I’m Red/Green colour blind. I’m sure they’d both look great with the gun metal. I’m guessing the green is lighter than the red so would contrast better? Maybe do a couple of tests first. The other thing with the body lines is the panel fit. The sunroof is so bad it looks like it’s off a different kit. If I couldn’t blend it perfectly I wouldn’t be happy with it so prefer to leave it as a feature.
