This video shows how to quickly update Kodi on Firestick to the most stable release and today it's version 21 Omega.
It's simple to update Kodi on a Firestick and it's the same process as we follow for side-loading apps (APKs).
This process for updating Kodi on Firestick also works for Fire TV, Fire TV Cube, and Fire TV Televisions.
Install the free Downloader app on Firestick or Fire TV through Amazon App Store and then open the free TROYPOINT Toolbox.

Troy I'm still running Kodi 18.8 because I had an old firestick that would not run 19. Now I have 2 new 4K sticks. One has Kodi 18.8 the other nothing yet. If I update to the latest Kodi will I lose my addons? Will I lose my favorites?

Hello Troypoint. Can you tell me why my movies etc. have a studder during playback no matter what build I am using? I run on a nvidia shield and it doesn't seem to matter what build i use it studders during playback. I do use debrid builds as I have a debrid account
You have more release since the 20.2 should I go to the most recent release stable instead of back to 20.2 just asking it still works for me

Yes, it should work but keep in mind that there are some Kodi 19 addons not compatible with 20.

I can’t get The Crew app or The Oath app to work after updating to 20.1 or 20.2. It says; One or more items failed to play. Check the log for more information about this message. I need a video on how to fix this because nobody else has addressed this with anything working.

Can you update Troypoint 20.1 to 20.2 the same way as Kodi without losing favorites?
The Fork will do a clean install of 20.2 and won't update the past fork.
Hello my friend? I bought me a new ( MXQ TV BOX that came with kodi. I did update it to 20.2. on ly old MXQ TV Bod It was no trouble to download movies BUT on my new MXQ TV Bos and on Kodi 20.2 will not download to my flash drive. Do you know what could be the problem???

I started with kodi 14.0 Helix . I used Kodi until 18.0 . Just for laughs i downloaded 20.2 just a few days ago . What works on there ?? . I was able to get a few streams to play like maybe 5 out of 100 try's . So am i missing something? .

Hello, I just use Kodi with the default Estuary skin. I also only use one plugin as well though.

Not stupid, it's a good question. No, updating like I show in the video will retain all settings. Sometime we run into problems updating to a complete new Kodi version such as going from 20 to 21 but these small incremental updates within the same Kodi version usually keep everything in place.

Just found an old jailbroken firestick I bought back in 2018 updated like this video said and launched kodi and it gave me a fat list of incompatible add-ons I’m I good or just throw away the firestick the fire stick was running on 17.6 before I updated it

This usually means that you already have the latest version of Kodi installed.

Sounds like you already have a version of Kodi on the device that is conflicting. Uninstall that and try this again.

Yes it does. I use it all the time. If it’s failing go into applications on the firestick, select downloader, clear cache and data. Try access the code again

3:16 pm Sunday…. Back again. Download went excellent! Then Kodi closed itself & won’t reopen just now. I’m a rookie guys. Should I delete Kodi & do a complete reinstall? Won’t open for me to fix.

It is not opening Kodi after first run! Why and what needs to be done?
Try rebooting your device and if using a different skin like I show in the video and you don't switch to Estuary, that could be problem as well.

If it's not saying it's updating you are using a Kodi Fork and not the actual Kodi app.
How could be able tell

Updating from 17.2 lol. Can’t even get Kodi to open lol.
17.2 is a looooong time ago. I wouldn't suggest trying to update from that version as most addons probably aren't compatible with the new build anyway.
Nope, didn't work. I keep getting "app not installed" every time I try.
This means that you already have the current version of Kodi installed or you are using a Kodi Fork that is blocking the update.

This version, and the ones before to 19 boots out of kodi, or black screen, and freezes.
This usually happens when updating without changing skin back to default Estuary skin which I go through in video.
