    A tutorial on "what" type of grid to use when making logo, and how to make custom grids. Everybody has a tutorial on grids and logo but they never tell us How they actually came up with that perticular grid for that perticular logo

    • @andreipopoviciu7523
      @andreipopoviciu7523 3 роки тому +5

      Usually in logo design what i do first is to make a 1000x1000 artboard (in illustrator).
      - Then I either use the default grid from AI, or create small squares (100x100px).
      - Select all of them -> right click -> "Make guides". From "View" menu make sure you have selected the "Snap to point" option checked.
      - Right click on an empty space in the artboard and click on "Lock guides" in order to not move them by mistake.
      Then you try to sick to that grid as much as you can.

    • @andreipopoviciu7523
      @andreipopoviciu7523 3 роки тому +6

      After more than 5 years of designing logos, I pretty much end up doing it "by eye", and not sticking forcing everything on a grid. It's less time consuming and most of the clients doesn't care. On big projects I still use the grid and make everything pixel perfect, but it's only 5% of the time I'm doing it.

    • @faiqcreates
      @faiqcreates 3 роки тому +1

      @@andreipopoviciu7523 thank you for the valuable comment. I screenshot it to help in future. Yeah you are right many logos are made by balancing it visually. I tried that once. Well twice
      And when i reflected the logo it looked nothing like a logo lol. But it works well as it is :p

    Till now whenever I observe a design, I used to know that something is not just in place but never found what exactly is wrong with the design.
    After watching these videos of before and after, I can clearly see the mistakes I've made in my designs. I can clearly see any design in terms of principles it's following. It makes me more confident when I say breathing space is less rather than saying something is wrong.

    Well, most people try to speculate and just get a glimpse of Graphic design and be like, I want to know how to make a Professional logo or Web UI/UX, but the Subject of Graphic Design is broad.
    For topics I would suggest;
    1. Principles of graphic design on specific categories (logo design, web design etc) for each lesson/video.
    2. Videos like these showing and explaining side by side the good design (follow the principles) and the bad one (doesn't follow the principles).
    3. And last one big thing I found to be hard especially to self-taught new designers is how to get the great idea for what they are about to design, see that can't be taught easily is mostly come by a long experience but I think there is a way around it also.
    By making videos on how to breakdown the client request into a simpler form. What I'm trying to say is, When a designer got a new project to work on it he/she needs to know exactly where to start like, "A logo design project. For a designer to make the project easy for him/her, should break it down by highlight what logotype is relevant to this project, what colors suit best (put into consideration the feel also), what font to use, and pair with what? also, how do you want the end-user to feel when they look at your design and many more (without forgetting Design Principals)."
    I hope you got the point. I see this many UA-camrs scattered all over the place on this 'Graphic Design' thing, not bad but sometimes I think is not the best to hit the target without telling people how to be able to hit that target every time. Sound more like free training but hey is just my opinion.
    Coz I was trying to learn a new skill on computer programing and find most of missing pages on the internet the worse you have no idea what page is it, is it the first pages you need to read and learn or is the last pages that need you to have good understanding? Until I found one guy called "the new Boston" who shows you straight how to reach and hit the target.
    So far what you have done and continue doing is very worthy and lots of education to all new and senior designers, I Congrats you on that keep it up.

    Firstly, well done on your content. It looks good. I am going to be a grumpy old designer now and show my age! When I first started in design, I was literally drawing type, taking the photos and building everything from scratch. It's nice to see that so much content has become available such as images, fonts and other content. Using templates defies the objective of being a designer. What bugs me, is the fact that when people (not designers) change a few things around and clam it for 'their own' they have the cheek to call themself a designer. Such individuals may know how to use the software, but that still doesn't make you a graphic designer. In my mind - as mentioned - if you don't actually create the concept from scratch after following the design process, you're not designing anything. All you are doing is moving your Ikea furniture around your flat (page layout).
    I'm from the era when web design was a new job description and the traditional graphic designer had to adapt and learn to code HTML, CSS and Javascript - just to surive, but even then, those technical coding skills are not what a traditional designer should do either!
    The whole world of graphic design has been misunderstood and bundled together with the likes of operators, coders and developers. We are all part of a process. People need to underastand that, as does business.
    If you take your car to the garage, how much per hour would you pay? £60-100p/h? Design is no different, but with people claiming to be a designer, who use templates think £50 is a good deal for a logo, or a poster; they need to reassess what they are charging/doing. You are literally devaluing the profession of design in the process - an industry which is difficult enough to convince clients they need to hire someone to create bespoke artwork.
    Rant over!

    In the 1st Design I believe that
    the woman in red was the only thing which was off-set. Colour palette 🎨 can be changed but otherwise the freepik design is just right and it's just matter of choice.
    Transformation of 2nd Design was just amazing 🤩 Each and every change made, took it to the next level. Changing one shape and SATORI to orange was the Best 🔥.
    In 3rd Design
    Everything is just perfect. But i think one can try completing that semi circle in the bottom left which kind of grabbing a lot of attention just because it's incomplete.
    In 4th Design
    In addition to all the changes made, one of the most unusual thing was the use of gradient. Now initially I thought it represents the gradient in data but it isn't ! It looked overcoloured and confusing. Gradient were misleading. It must be changed as per the data.

    Love watching your fixes. I do have one differing opinion.
    First example: I don't think the red box around "home" is needed. Too much visual weight. The text could be red instead. (Side note: web pages no longer need a " home" navigation. Users know to click the logo to get to the home page)

    Well, something that's been bugging me lately is how to design a "matching" sign and a large window sticker for a shop, without being too similar but being in the same style. Keep up with those videos, they are priceless!

    I would love to see a handful of instances where the same principle fixes a design. Like 5 or 6 where proximity makes the difference, then another vid where contrast is the fix. Emphasize the same principle repeatedly to drive it home.

    Leaving a few spots empty in design two makes that design more interesting too.

    On the poster, I would try to make the end of the name SATORI line up with the square above it. This might make you lucky enough (if you used tracking) that the O lines up (centered) to the circle above it.
