I think the yellow in the title was awesome. It was a 70s aesthetic... things used to had colors like that. Idk, I am not a designer, but I guess design it is not only about those rules. I see tons of videos teaching hierarchy, typography etc but I see almost no one talking about culture, styles, decades.. Nice vid tho. 🌿
I do agree, I loved the colour. However it was kind too much in the same brightness to be easily readable. I would've liked it if he kept the yellow and changed it to a different shade though.
True! I love that yellow title. And the size of the title is fine if the cactus flower go above the title (It doesn’t matter if the main image is a little over the title, this is often seen on magazine covers.)
Yeah I really liked it too. Unfortunately it simply didn't work because there wasn't enough contrast. Perhaps it would've worked if the background was a darker color.
I've been a designer for about 20 years. I'm always fascinated seeing other designers choices. I agree with some, would do some things differently but it's always eye opening. Thanks for the great content.
@@SatoriGraphics And increase the challenge for at least one of the designs like the last one in this segment. It was well made, to say the least. If you put up an advanced course someday, I will sign right up!
To add to the cacti, I would remove the rule lines, as the first one on the left is separated by the crest. The bottom text could be either center to match the title or align left. Over all it was nice to watch the improvements of all the projects. Merci!
This was also my idea, to move flower over text and it would partially deal with space issues. I also agree that asymmetric layout on page was more interesting
This whole video is just bonkers. The "Cactus" poster has so many issues - like the font of "descriptions" is too small for any size of the poster, the badge should probably overlap the "cactus picture", the biggest contrast is on the least interesting part of the poster - flowerpot which takes up 50% of the format (WTF), the webpage doesn't make any sense, because of the stupid hierarchy. Is the picture a picture of a current dish? Or a new Arrival? Why is "new arrivel" higher in hierrarchy than a personal choice of a customer? The minor "basic" issues like aligning business card to "mathematical" middle instead of an optical are a classic beginner issues. Not to mention the lack of understanding how divs work. These videos might help to probably absolute greenhorns but can be harmful to people who are actually serious about studying graphic design.

Great pointers - always good to keep vigilant when designing! A few points that popped into my head;
Design #1
- The email line was out of alignment in the original design
- Hierarchy as you mentioned (or at least differentiation)
Design #2
- Weak contrast for white text (white header looks great though)
- consider keeping original image size and masking it to overlay title text instead of shrinking
Design #3
- I would probably make button colours consistent (unless green buttons consistently direct to the cart whilst white buttons navigate elsewhere across the site)
- updated design looks great from a static viewpoint, but it's important that it responds effectively to smaller screen sizes (in which case the text sections would almost certainly need to stack)
Design #4
- agreed!
