    I just wanted to thank you for these videos. I have learned a great deal from each one. They have changed my life dramatically. I was injured in Iraq and lost more than I would like to say, but these videos have giving me a hobby and passion I would have. Never know without your videos. I'm very proud to have the skill set I have now thanks to your videos . I'm in Brooklyn New York so you could imagine the lack of fly Tyers here . Thanks for more than you could ever know

      Robert, first off Big thanks for your service brother! 2nd I’m trying to get into fly fishing with my oldest daughter. So if your still tying, do you have a website where I could buy some flies from you? If so post it for us, would be an honor to buy from you!

      First off, thank you for your service! If you are still in NY, have a look for Project Healing Waters. They are an amazing group made up of Veterans that get ex-military out on the water to help the mind, no matter what shape the body is in. They do great work. Be well and enjoy your fish~!

      @@FlyFishMike_I’m the regional coordinator for New York now. Project healing waters has indeed made an impact . Life has changed so much because of tim and healing waters . This comments was many years ago . Thank you so much for spreading the words about healing waters . I even was blessed enough to spend time with Tim . His voice till this day helped my son who has autism . Very funny story 😂

    Thanks a ton, Tim, these videos are constantly on next to my tying bench. I'm with you, preferring size18 and up, but sometimes it has to be tiny. Great tip with the 'forward-back' thread technique.
    I was going to call you Mr. Flagler but I know how much that disrupts your concentration...lol.
    Thanks again, keep up the great videos! Cannot wait for the annual winter podcast!
    -Mike.

    That is a great tie, most especially for such a small size. Great suggestion on how to break off the pt fibers off close. Since watching this video I use that method and works real well.

    I been tying this one since you posted it, I been using TMC 200 R for the hook, all month I been fishing it as a trailer to an # 16 hare's ear 6 x florocarbon tippet 18" long, more times than not when I hook up, the trout take the 22 PT- my biggest to date was an Brown a little over 23 inches out of some really hard fished waters! I like it because its a quick simple fly and its from common inexpensive materials! Soon its going to be low water, warm temps and hopper time, I will be trailing one off of a hopper just because!

      They are the only trout I've caught recently! But the deep freeze seems to be over for the moment and I'm hoping to get out soon. Glad you liked the video.

    For people that don't have plunger-style hackle pliers, grabbing the hooks with hemostats also works well.

    I really appreciate the time put in these sir. As a beginner fly tier, they help a lot. Could you please do a sculpin that fits trout? The trout in my river feed heavily on them. Thank you so much n advance sir!

    What size tippet do I use for size 22 hook. I'm considering tying and fishing smaller than size 16, which is a first for me. I usually tie smaller nymphs as a trailer behind a larger one on 5x leader with 5x fluro

  • @keiranrooker7981

    I use 4x tippet and can’t use any hooks size 20 and under

  • @markbenn1907

    Size 22 is absolutely cracked. I tied some on 18’s and that might be good enough for me….

  • @davidcooper5177
    @davidcooper5177 7 років тому

    First of all, your videos are top notch. Second, I've never understood the R hook. Doesn't it make a 22 look BIGGER, than say a regular or scud 22? I fish a lot of Colorado tailwaters and would think a PT on this hook would look huge..... Or am I over thinking this?

    • @tightlinevideo
      @tightlinevideo  7 років тому +1

      I know what you're saying. But, l'm looking for a long, lean profile on this pattern like a Baetis natural. Tied on a shorter shanked 22 the fly tends to look short and squat which is not really what I'm after here.
